Fitton Green is a hidden treasure within minutes of downtown Corvallis. It offers one of our favorite walks or hikes in the area, and it is open to one and all. My favorite spot is at the very top as it offers a panoramic view of Corvallis all the way out to nearby Philomath.

Hiking to the top of Fitton Green is one of our favorite activities. You can get there either by driving up a paved road to a parking area near the top or by hiking from the Bald Hill area (parking areas on Oak Creek Rd. or from the Fair Grounds) via the Lolly Pop loop. The latter is a longish hike but worth it for the variety of trail features.
From the top you have, when it's not cloudy, an excellent view of Marys Peak and Philomath.
The roads and trails on the Green are all weather so you can go there every day of the year.
Caution: If you walk with your dog, be sure to check it very well for ticks! Our Golden always picks them up (or vice versa).

One of the most beautiful places in Corvallis. The parking situation is small, but we have never had a problem getting a spot. The hike up to the top of the hill is relatively easy, and once you're at the top, it's always windy. Bring a hoodie.

I belong to a Monday morning hiking group that often goes up to Fitton Green, however usually my old dog poops out and I have to turn back before getting up there. One beautiful fall morning recently, she made it all the way up--a 7 mile round trip from Bald hill trailhead. Recent trail renovations have made it possible to get to Fitton Green directly from there. It's a varied hike through some fields on roads, and then through the woods, although there has been some cutting and clearing. I've found some choice mushrooms up there too, including russula xerampelina, shaggy manes, lycoperdons and some boletes. The trail is a favorite because even in wet weather it doesn't get too muddy.

As a resident of Corvallis, this is one of my favorite local hiking areas. But, do expect a few hills! Fitton Green connects with Cardwell Hill nature area which takes you along Mary's River. You'll also see the efforts to bring back the savanna oaks which are native to the area.

A very easy hike. Absolute gorgeous views. It was my first time to Fitton Green, as I was visiting from Arizona. We were a group 4, 3 adults and a 7 year old. We had such a wonderful time. I would highly recommend you go watch the sunset from this beautiful location. A bonus was that on the way out, we picked blackberries - they were delicious!

Flat, open trails. Easy, moderate hike to the top of the main clearing where the views are panoramic across the valley. Good if you only have 30 or 40 mins.

A fire road leads to a trail that opens into a natural area. Take the Throop trail for approx a 25 min hike. Its a easy to moderate hike with some incline but the views at the top of the hill are worth it. Pack a picnic, bring a blanket and stay for a while. Mountain bikers, hikers and plenty of dogs enjoy this trail. At the top you will view mountain ranges, Philomath and Corvallis. There are a few other trails that we have yet to explore. I've heard one trail connects to Bald Hill area. I have yet to hike that one. There are only parking spots for approx 8-9 cars in lot but I've never had a problem finding a spot. There is a great BIG Oak Tree that is pretty amazing too. So grab your hiking shoes and get out and explore nauture!
