In town one day to site see and they were closed due to having a yard sale of all things! Really you could not find another place besides a historical site to have a yard sale. There was a whole park right next door!

Our self guided tour booklet was well written and most informative. Our walk through Frontier Village was most enjoyable and the homes/buildings were beautifully staged giving you a true flavor of life during this era. There were many exhibits in the building where you sign up for the tour one of which was a Cotton Mill exhibit. Adding to this very pleasant experience was information provided to us by a very down to earth employee of Frontier Village,Rita, who was well versed in assisting me with my request to learn about Denison's Cotton Mill. Thank you for a delightful afternoon spent here.

Fun walking through the village and seeing the history. I am happy they allowed our dogs. Also very interesting that we had key and could walk through some of the places. Others were viewed through plexiglass door. Good reminder of how folks lived and traveled.

The village holds a lot of history. My sister was very excited because she had been reading all about the history of the area. We did a self guided tour and found the markers fine for explaining about each building and its artifacts. We were lucky to run into a new blacksmith setting up his shop. He told us a lot about his equipment. The office staff was also very friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be that my 90 year old dad had difficulty walking the uneven paths and eventually decided to sit and let us go on. There were not many places to sit. But he too enjoyed the visit.

First, a very kind young man helped us. Thank you. This is interesting and nice to be outside and wander around. Just a heads up, the walking is a little rough for some people. So if you have someone in your party in a wheelchair or with a walker, etc you may wish to look over the area before committing to this activity because for someone struggling with mobility, it could be quite challenging. I took my 96 year old great aunt who is actually quite strong and steady. We didnt make it to the first building because it was too difficult with no good walkways(yet walkways would negatively impact the historical nature).. the polite young man quickly offered to refun our small entrance fee which wasn't expected or needed.

Yes, I would definitely suggest going here, as long as you are not struggling with getting around on bumpy ground.

We have been here several times and see something new each time. A great time to visit is December when the park becomes a "Christmas Wonderland" of beautiful lights and displays. Bring the kids, they will love it. There is a small entry fee to help cover expenses but well worth it. Also, don't miss the small museum. It is very interesting.

Beautiful 17 acre village of 13 Historic cabins, houses and buildings from the 1840's to the early 1900's. There is a jail wagon used up to 1939, wagons, a blacksmith shop and severl replica buildings of a church and school house. Admission is $4 for adults, $2 for children 6 years and older.

While visiting near Denison, Texas we were aware of this park but decided to pass. On our last day there we decided to give it a try. Boy oh boy, were we ever glad we did! This is truly a "hidden gem" and is not to be missed. Many of the historic homes are open to the public. You will be given a key that will open certain houses - not all of them. The museum is well done and the staff is friendly and informative. Note: wear sturdy shoes as the ground is uneven. It is outside, so if you go in the summer - sunscreen and a sun hat would be helpful.

I only wish we had come in a different season. 100 degree June heat made us not stay as long as we would have liked. As expected it was all outdoors, though a small museum inside has antiques and displays. A booklet describe each of the buildings in the village was great as we walked around. Though I missed it, guess I was getting sweat in my eyes, they do have a small cemetery behind the church with 2 graves that were there when they created the village 47 years ago. Don’t miss them in your visit.

Really nice staff. Went on a very quiet day, so no activities but the self-guided tour. Brought back a lot of childhood memories, seeing the simpleness and familiarity of the homes and their furnishings, but very creative and efficient designs. The only disappointment was not being able to enter all of the homes on this visit. I definitely intend to revisit, hopefully on a day when all buildings are accessible. Very small fee for the tour.
