Dear Aislinn
I feel sorry that your stay at the Yoga Retreat was not satisfying. I was very surprised to read about your complains. We, in the Yoga Retreat, are taking your comments very seriously, and taking steps to improve our service on all levels.
However, some of your comments doesn't seem to be fair. Particularly I'm talking about your accusation about the scabies in our beddings. Following your review we've studied the ways by which scabies spread, and we've found that the disease is usually spreading through skin contact and not through beddings. We've also inquired if there were any other cases of scabies in the ashram, and found that there were no other cases outside of your group. This, of course, has nothing to do with Ashram sanitation in this case, and we have no practical way to prevent such cases.
Further, the general experience, as you describe it in your review, seems to be in total contrast with the feedbacks we get from our guests, so I conclude that you observe your experience through very dark glasses. Please refer to other reviews on TripAdvisor which deal with the same topics, it would seem to you that you're talking about a completely different place.
I want to say a word about your comments about the food in the ashram. The food in the Yoga Retreat is simple, but nutritious. We believe in what we call “simple living and high thinking”. We serve only two meals a day because we believe it is healthy for people who lead yogic life. We also sell in our store snacks for those who need to bite something between meals, and we encourage our guests to bring with them some dry fruits and nuts. We're aware that not all are used to yogic diet, specially non-vegetarians, but if you try to follow the ashram's daily routine with its diet and exercise, you'll quickly see a positive change in your life.
Serving vegetarian food in the Bahamas is not a simple task. Sometimes it is difficult to find here even simple ingredients, and we have to import them from the states. We are putting a lot of effort to get the best and freshest foods, and to prepare the most delicious vegetarian dishes. We try hard to get organic foods, such as organic milk, organic oat-meal etc. And looking in the general reviews in TripAdvisor makes me believe that most people find the food satisfying.
Finally, I thank you for bringing up these topics, and hope you'll choose to come back in the future and give a chance for a beautiful experience.
All the best,
