Thank you for your lovely comments. The views from the sea view bedrooms are certainly not to be missed. Whilst some might consider some areas of the hotel to be old fashioned we try very hard to keep the decor etc in line with the building. I have a fantastic team here at the Royal and I will be sure to pass your comments onto them. I am pleased to see you made full use of the entertainment and enjoyed it.

Many thanks for taking the time to share your views. It is very pleasing to see such favourable comments with regards to the food and the restaurant staff who all work very hard. Joel is a fantastic talent and is always very well received. I am pleased to see you were pleased with your room facilities and found it comfortable.
I agree that the hotel is an old building but with this comes character, something I feel the Royal has plenty of. We try hard to keep all areas in keeping with the style of the building. Whilst indeed the lift is small, it is in keeping with the age and style of the building.
We are in a fantastic location enjoying some of the best views the town has to offer with a regular public transport service to avoid the climb back from town.

I appreciate you taking the time to post your comments. We are indeed a Bay hotel, part of the Shearings group. Throughout the year we specialise in coach tours and self drive packages which does tend to draw people from all over the country. Our all inclusive package does seem to be very popular, keeping us busy at this time of year.
We offer a 1 hour open sitting for dinner allowing guests to choose when they wish to eat. Breakfast does indeed finish at 9.15 which when our coaches all go out between 9.15-9.30am most days through the week, it fits in nicely with their timings. Replacement of the bedroom televisions and redecoration is as ever an on-going project. As you’ve mentioned the building is listed and therefore we are limited with the lift works available to us.
Or menus are designed to offer something for everyone with plenty of choice, it is disappointing to find that in experience that was not the case. I will be sure to look into your comments with my chef regarding the soups, however, it is pleasing to see you enjoyed the other courses.
Our entertainment team work incredibly hard to offer high end entertainment and week after week both Joel and Joey receive rave reviews and I will be sure to add these to the collection.
I am very lucky to have a great team here at the Royal and it is very rewarding to see them so favourably commented on.
Whilst we are lucky to have some of the best views of Whitby from the cliff top I agree it is rather a steep climb back from town.
Overall, I trust you enjoyed your stay and hope you will consider travelling with us again in the not too distant future.
