Hi guys, thank you so much for your review, we tried our best with the vegetarian food, I hope it wasn't to disappointing, but you are right we don't have much call for such speciality food and I understand your predicament. In the internet era there really is no need to reserve a hotel/guesthouse unsuitable for your needs as every advertisement is accompanied by a true scale map and lots of information about the surrounding areas. I'm afraid if you make a reservation that reservation has to be honoured, as you know while you were here all our AC rooms were full and we have been turning away business for most of April. For future travellers if you turn right out of The Retreat there are 3 or 4 little shops selling most food snacks and other essentials all within 100m. But turning left (the main route) there is nothing for 350m, and the Tesco Express & 7Eleven are a further kilometre down the main road. Anyway it was a pleasure to meet both of you and I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip around Thailand.

Thanks Derek for your kind words, for future guests and your next visit, if you ask the staff for fresh chips they will do them, we nearly always have enough potatoes, we only use frozen for convenience, but fresh is not a problem, Glyn is the same as you, prefer real potato.

Although this review relates to The Retreat, the man in question never stayed here and therefore has no right to comment on my rooms' value, cleanliness or sleep quality. The man is very bitter because he was asked not to holler in the bar, he continued to holler at the top of his voice until he was eventually (but politely asked to leave) he then got aggressive and abusive so he was told never to return even to use the pool or fitness centre (as he lived next door he had until this time been given access to the facilities) what private parties go on next door to The Retreat is not really something I have control over, however they are far and few between, in fact the party he refers to is the only one I can ever remember as most parties actually take place at The Retreat. His moaning about pool balls banging is his attempt at comparing the noise he was making, the balls cannot be heard in the rooms (he has no experience of this), but balls banging is a necessary noise, hollering at the top of your voice is not necessary, my staff do not speak good English and loud shouting of this nature is always interpreted as aggressive. I was in my apartment at the time and actually thought there was a fight/argument taking place, although when I arrived I could see his intentions were not aggressive I could still not allow him to continue, my apartment is further away than my guest rooms so how might my other guests have thought of the noise, my objective is to protect all my guests not just please one by allowing him to be as boisterous as he likes because he's putting money behind my bar, that may wash in other parts of Thailand but not at The Retreat.. We are resident bar in a small confined space, and people should behave accordingly. As for our location we are a retreat, we have everything you need on site, we're suppose to be hidden away otherwise it wouldn't be much of a retreat, however the best bars and restaurants are all within 2-3kms and there are more and more small bars opening closer all the time. There are a few Ma & Pa shops within 100m and 2 coffee shops at 300m, BB villa is a stones-throw away with a nice bar and restaurant, and of course there are the fishing parks and golf course just 5mins by bike/car.
