I would like to address the issues which you found significant; Our maintenance team work very hard in the winter months to ensure that the hotel is in a good state of repair for our guests at the beginning of the season. I don't have a record of you bringing the smaller faults to our attention and can only apologise if you did and they were not rectified immediately. As you can imagine in a hotel of this size maintenance is an ongoing programme and I thank you for bringing these things to my attention.

Regarding your telephone, it is unfortunate that you were staying over a long bank holiday weekend and that the telephone engineer would not come out to fix the fault on your extension. This situation was rectified on the first working day after we were notified of the fault, unfortunately this would have been the day you departed. The same problem would normally apply to to the hot water issue, though thankfully whilst an engineer was not available on the Thursday evening we did secure a call out to have the problem solved the following morning after the problem was discovered, Good Friday, not quite 24 hours in fact. However, I agree that more should have been done to compensate you for the inconveniene.

I am unsure as to what water the rain pipe was allowing to cascade down the wall, our facebook page shows pictures of Scilly having lovely weather for the majority of the weekend which you stayed, with only a few light showers occuring. I do wonder if the lights you mention seeing out are emergency lights which remain off until required in an emergeny. I will however be looking into all of the areas which you have mentioned.

It is unfortunate that you did not meet me during your stay. I was flown off the island only shortly before your arrival as I went into premature labour. I am not offering this as an excuse as to why you did not meet anyone you would recognise as a manager, but part way to explain how it was that you did not meet The Manager. The Heads of Department who were looking after the hotel are all at the same management level, working together as a team in my absense.

I am glad that whilst your stay did not pass without issue that you enjoyed your time with us at Tregarthen's Hotel. I hope that you will decide to visit us again, and that when you do you contact me personally to arrange your holiday.
