We are delighted that you had a wonderful stay and enjoyed Dornoch.

I am sorry that you feel the food is overpriced, we do not feel it is overpriced for the quality provided as all products are fresh and local sourced wherever and whenever possible so that the best possible flavour and tastes are provided, this of course does come at a small price and most people are more than happy to pay for this quality.

With regards to our heating system needing upgraded, there are notes in your room and on your welcome letter given at check in, regarding our recently installed Biomass burner which provides heat and hot water to all of the hotel. This was installed in 2009/2010 therefore we feel that it is the most up to date and well managed heating system possible for a hotel.

Please also note that we have received a Green Award for our eco-friendly heating system.

We would have happily boosted the heating at any point if you had mentioned at the time you were cold, this would not have been an issue.

All the staff are delighted with your positive comments about the rest of the hotel and Dornoch and we hope that you are able to visit us again in the summer time to experience Dornoch in a different season.

We are all delighted that you had a wonderful stay with us at New Year, it is a very special time and there is always so much going on.

I am very sorry that you felt that the attitude of some staff members where snobbish etc, we have never received a complaint like this about any member of staff and can only assume that something has been said which has been taken out of context, unfortunatley as this was not brought up at the time I am unable to offer anything apart from an apology for this.

We do hope that you are able to visit us again in the future and all the staff are delighted that you had a such a great stay and have pleasent memories to keep.

Thank you for your recent review.

We do apologise that you were not able to enjoy a glass of wine at Dornoch Castle Hotel, however the Scottish Licensing Regulations state that we cannot serve alcoholic beverages on New Years Day unless food is being consumed. The only exception is for residents of the hotel.

I appreciate that this information should have been explained in more detail; however it is no refection on the service we offered, only on the outdated licensing laws.

We are glad you had a pleasant stay with us and enjoyed the various different areas of the Castle and building.

I am very sorry however that you feel that our food was hideously overpriced and the wine cheap. With regards to our food, all of our food is sourced locally wherever possible which of course comes at a price but most people are more than happy to choose locally sourced, fresh ingredients which provide real flavour and taste rather than frozen or micro-waved products.

If the beef was cold and dried out and not to your liking this could have been easily rectified by a mention to the restaurant staff who would have happily changed this for you.

All of our wines are sourced from a small, independent family run business dedicated to professional excellence and sourcing to which we have never received any complaints of the quaility of wine provided.

Whilst we find personally, screw caps do take away the drama and romance of a fine wine being opened, now a days the majority of wine merchants and producers feel the sacrifice is well worthwhile to ensure taint free wine that offers consistent aging, maintains flavour and freshness with optimum quality control.

All the staff work incredibly hard to ensure that each guest has a memorable stay and we really appreciate receiving these.

We do hope that you are able to visit us again in the future.
