This was a fairly basic chalet type property overlooking the Vésubie Valley and surrounding mountains.
From a practical point of view the amenities were sadly lacking.
Principle amongst these was the condensing boiler which was supposed to heat up the water whenever a hot tap was turned on. However this was extremely temperamental and often failed to ignite, something the owner was perfectly aware of as she demonstrated the technique for persuading it to come on. This was to give at a vigorous slap with the palm of the hand. Hardly an ideal arrangement. Further more it usually failed to stay on for any length of time resulting the shower suddenly running cold and having to have someone stationed by the boiler to give it a slap whenever it went out!
The next major problem was that the kitchen sink failed to empty after washing up. It turned out the drain below the plug hole was completely blocked with accumulation of dirt. We actualy unblocked this ourselves. There was a... más
