My wife and I had sort of an odd itinerary (ferry across from Mallaig for a day on Skye, then bus onwards to Inverness) and it seemed like a private tour would be the best option to make the most of our limited time on Skye. I had no idea how much we would enjoy the tour, though! Many of the group tours we've taken ferry your group to a number of places just to tick the boxes, but give you no real time there to experience the awe and beauty of a place, and Skye is far too beautiful of a place to leave that to chance. Because we started early (ferry arrived at 8:00), we had a full day with Callum, who accommodated even our off-the-beaten-path requests. Callum was incredibly knowledgable and seamlessly interwove history with local lore and, all grounded in his deep family roots in the area. To say he went above and beyond is an understatement. Thanks so much to him, and to Gordon for his professionalism in setting everything up!

Such a wonderful experience that we got to customize ourselves. Our tour guide Kenneth was so kind and knowledgeable of Scottish history. He even suggested great spots for us to stop and let us take our time. Would highly recommend this private tour over booking with companies that offer tours for large groups.

Our guide, Carole, pick us up on time and on our way we discussed different ideas we had as to what to do and she gave us some ideas that would utilise our time best.
Dunvegan Castle was stunning, not only the castle itself, the beautiful gardens but also the interior, you could really imagine people through the ages living in this amazing place. The gardens were a delight to walk through even though the weather was a bit hit and miss.
The Fairy Pools lived up to their name. The waterfalls were unbelievable especially if like us you had never seen a real one and the pools were so clear you could see the bottom, with a little imagination even the teenagers could see the fairies whipping along the water. It took us about 30mins to walk, from the car park, to the first pool. There were a few parts that were slightly steep but nothing unmanageable, no moaning from kids, and we all enjoyed the landscape and wildlife along the way.
Carole told us that Portree is the main town on the isle, again the landscape was amazing. We spent some time watching the boats at the harbour and we walked around the quaint town where we also had something to eat. We popped into the Visitor Centre which was interesting as well as educational and of course we got some souvenirs.
Everything from going over the Skye bridge (twice), the activities and the stunning landscape was an absolute delight we could not come to agreement what we enjoyed the most.
Our guide Carole was wonderful, she was chatty and knowledgeable. We told her what we had looked at prior to the tour and she gave us various ideas of what we could do. Her suggestions were spot on for our group. I cannot fault anything about our experience and would recommend this tour company to anyone. Thank you for a great day Carole

Gordon was very knowledgeable about the area and local lore. He was an excellent driver, even in the winter conditions and I felt very safe on the tour as we were traveling about. We went around the north peninsula of Skye and everything was so stunning and beautiful. I would definitely recommend Grand Tours to anyone looking for private tours of Scotland various parks and landmarks.

Jim, our guide, was fantastic. Our trip was tailored to our interests and included stops that would not have been accessible in a big tour bus. The views were amazing. I traveled with elderly parents and Jim did a great job of pacing and accommodating to their interests, energy, and mobility. Highly recommend this tour.

My wife and I were on a cruise that had a 1-day stop in the Isle of Skye. The private tour enabled us to make every second count. We were able to beat the crowds in the most popular places and spend the time we wanted in the places we chose. Our Tour Guide was great--she was friendly, funny, and had insider knowledge that helped make our day truly memorable. What a great day in an amazing place!!!

Our private Isle of Skye tour out of Fort William with Callum was all we hoped for and more than we could have imagined. Like the prior reviewer, we were on a group tour that included a ferry crossing from Mallaig and then a very brief drive in just the southern part of Skye; it didn't include the iconic sights I most wanted to see. My wife encouraged me to search for a private tour and Gordon, the owner of Grand Tours of Scotland, was extraordinarily helpful and responsive in scheduling one for us even though he personally already was booked with someone else on the day that worked with our group tour schedule. I had confidence in his selection of just the right person to take us and it was the best decision we could have made.
Callum immediately noticed I had my Nikon DSLR camera and deduced, correctly, that I was looking for amazing photo opportunities. From that point on, his primary motivation seemed to be making sure we got to enjoy as much as we possibly could of his beloved Isle of Skye. And, boy, did we!
Almost as much as that, though, we felt we made a great friend with whom we had much in common. We truly regretted parting at the end of our wonderful day with him.
We will book tours through Grand Tours of Scotland and ask Gordon to schedule Callum with us on our future trips to Scotland -- and there WILL be future trips to Scotland!!

Gordon is an amazing guide, catering our trip to Isle of Skye to exactly what we wanted. He was so well informed and educated us on everything along the way. This was one (if not THE) highlight of our trip and would recommend him to anyone looking to explore the Highlands!

We booked 2 full day tours with Gordon - the Culloden tour and the Skye tour. Both days were amazing! Gordon adapted the tours to suit our different interests and mobility limitations. We covered a lot of ground and hit the highlights and some hidden gems, from castles to distilleries to natural wonders. The entire area is absolutely beautiful. Gordon is extremely knowledgeable and a very kind guide.

Excellent experience from the start, prompt replies to inquiries, interesting and informative tour. Gordon has a lot of knowledge about the area, and happy to answer all our questions. Comfortable vehicle with sunroof. Private tour was very convenient for our family of 4 adults, and Gordon was flexible to adjust on the go depending on the weather. Highly recommended, would book with Gordon again.
