Todo fue fenomenal, Mark nos explicó con todo detalle lo que íbamos viendo, la visita al parque fue genial, dimos de comer a los canguros y wallabies, acariciamos a los Koalas... Más tarde nos fuimos a ver las Blue Mountains, y aunque el tiempo no acompañó la visita fue muy interesante. Para terminar hicimos un pequeño crucero por el río pasando por el Harbour Bridge y la Opera House, un broche de oro para un gran día

Enjoyed visiting some of the smaller cellar doors and the insight from those vested in the winery. They showed their love for what they are part of.

If you enjoy wine, you will enjoy this all day experience! We were picked up from various hotels around the city and driven in a large, comfortable van up to Hunter Valley. We had 2 tastings in the morning, then ate a lovely lunch at a golf club with wonderful views. After lunch, we had a cheese tasting, then our last wine tasting of the day. We were able to take a short cut going home through the Harbor tunnels and were dropped off back where we stared.
Our tour guide was very personable, knowledgeable, and made sure we were taken care of throughout the day. My understanding is that the tastings rotate through the various wineries based on which ones we were able to be the only ones in the winery at the time we'd arrive, so it made for a more intimate experience. I highly recommend this experience!

Thoroughly enjoyed our day out among the 120 wineries out by Cessnock - we visited 3 wineries and learnt loads about the different wines offered and their differences and processes. Very educational and have to say I especially enjoyed the first winery: Saddler's Creek!!! Also got to go the Hunter Valley Cheese Factory and sampled some delicious cheeses (Hunterzola 😋). Rafael, our guide, was very friendly and helpful and kept us well-informed about our itinerary, throughout the day. Thank you!

We had a great day with Jeff and our group. All the wineries we visited were great and there were dietary accommodations for the lunch and cheese tastings. We also got to see some wild kangaroos along the way! Would recommend for anyone interested in visiting wineries without having to worry about the logistics of getting to hunter valley and in between the various wineries!

Scottie was a highly knowledgeable, organised and entertaining guide. The boutique wineries were all great, and the cheese tasting was a new and exciting way to round off the day, thank you! PS lunch was hosted at the golf course resort with stunning views and generous portions.

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Even though I was a solo traveler, I had a great time chatting with Raphael (the tour guide) and the group.
We departed The Rocks neighborhood north over the Harbour Bridge to head to the Hunter Valley. A little over an hour into the drive there’s a quick pitstop for bio break and for folks to purchase a coffee at one of the shops. Soon enough we depart to head to Hunter Valley and get there in under 2 hours of driving.
Our first stop was Saddler’s Creek Wines. It is a cute establishment with an even cuter pup. We had our tasting in a private room where we were provided excellent descriptions of the wines, got asked questions to help us discern what we were experiencing, what would pair well with the wines, and plenty of comedic commentary. I’m a fan of red wines and the Shiraz wines and Cabernet Sauvignon were fantastic. This was my favorite spot. I purchased a bottle of the Cab Sauv.
We then went 10 minutes-ish to the next spot, McLeish Estate Wines. The property was expansive. They served Semillon (the staple white for the region) and Verdelho as their whites. I purchased a bottle of the Auld Killie (pronounced like “key-lee”) that’d be perfect to pair with charcuterie.
By this time we were hungry and we were quickly at the country club for our individual meals of fish and chips, chicken caesar salad, margherita pizza, or chicken schnitzel. The food was great and the scenery was beautiful with the golf course in the background.
We went up the road for a quick pitstop for cheese tasting. I liked the Hunter Gold and ashed brie cheeses. Unfortunately there wasn’t a wine pairing with the cheeses but I enjoyed the quick snack. Like pronto the group was ready to go to the last winery.
We were in for a surprise at the last stop as the vineyard had gangs of eastern gray kangaroos all over it as well as cockatoos. The winery had more sweet wines than the other two we visited. The descriptions and conversation from our host were great. This is a good stop for folks who prefer white wines and desert wines. I liked the desert wines we sampled because they were smoother and sweet, unlike many desert wines being syrupy.
I know that the wineries, and maybe the restaurant too, rotate so you may not have an identical tour, however I appreciated that we went to boutique vineyards. The group was small and we got undivided attention as a group at the wineries.
We headed back to Sydney and got dropped off at convenient locations near where we were picked up. We made great time on the way back, being back in Sydney by 5 PM. Such a great day that I forgot my book (I had a couple of wine bottles in mind… priorities right?!), which they kindly retrieved and I was able to meet the next day’s tour to get my book. Thank you!!!
I chose this tour because it didn’t include the distillery that many of the other tours do and people regularly reviewed that they wish that had been skipped. This tour was perfect with three vineyards, the quick cheese tasting pit stop, and the country club for lunch.
I’d definitely go again. I recommended this experience with Activity Tours Australia for your Hunter Valley excursion.

Our half-day tour included:

The chocolate was a bonus that Jeff, our driver, coordinated on the fly because we were running a little ahead of schedule. This was nice because we were flying back the next day and couldn't bring any bottles with us (without extra hassle), but we could get chocolate!
Jeff initially provided some helpful and interesting commentary on the 2.5-hour drive up, but let us sleep because it was an early start to get up to the Hunter Valley. He also gave us a quick bathroom pit stop both directions. And of course sleep on the way back. ; ) On the way to the third winery, Jeff slowed the van so we could see the kangaroos at the vineyard!
As for the selected locations, the first and third wineries had great representatives sharing about their wines. They were engaging, knowledgeable, and cheerful! The second one was totally perfunctory; she seemed to want us gone, not engaging at all. The tour might elect to avoid McKleish if your tour group includes a lot of non-native English speakers.
For lunch, Jeff provided the menu on the ride up and then took our lunch order at the end of the first tasting. He also provided some guidance on the options to help us keep in mind how much we were potentially drinking. This aspect of the tour was very well planned.

Lovely day out! Jeff was a great guide, and the winery guides were all very knowledgeable and gave us lots of different things to taste. Yummy cheeses, too. We had great weather and comfortable trip there and back.

Great tour guide, he made the trip enjoyable and fun. The first winery was the best they set the bar high. The other 2 could not compete. Sadly one was promoting wine from South Australia. Lunch was huge and delicious. Great day out.
