I've never been in a small plane before, but had no problems with this flight. Before we took off, the pilot said that the weather in Milford Sound would prevent us from taking the cruise, so he would spend a little extra time in the air to give us a fuller experience there. The views of the mountains were great from the air. We flew over Milford Sound, so we could see the waterfalls at the Sound from the air. The pilot was friendly and competent, giving us a great experience in the air.

An absolutely spectacular day! We highly recommend doing this tour if you are visiting Queenstown or are nearby. We did the fly in/cruise/fly out tour and every single moment was fabulous. Staff were all very friendly and helpful, special thanks to our pilot Antony Sproull from Air Milford whose commentary and flying skills were top notch.

Outstanding tour with a great pilot in Tom. Very informative and the scenic flight there and back can not be described in words, just amazing. The cruise is also awesome with amazing scenery and waterfalls everywhere. A must do!

This is hands down the best thing to do when visiting Queenstown! the flight is jaw-droppingly beautiful and the sound itself is stunning. The staff and crew at Air Milford were super friendly and professional. The flight allows you to get a unique perspective as to exactly how remote and relatively inaccessible the area is and of cause showcases the beauty of those mountains and Fjiordland national park.

I had anticipated the cruise being the highlight of this adventure but it was the flights with the stunning scenery and learning from our pilot about the area. Very high level of customer service and care.

Thank you for your lovely review. It is great for our team to know we are meeting expectations around Tiaki (duty of care for our place and people)! The Fly/Cruise combo is our most popular for good reason, and your point is a common perception so it is great you mention that. This is great intel for future travelers if we are faced with bad weather that only permits a brief landing in Milford, to avoid getting stuck. End of the day, the Fly/Cruise is our most popular for good reason as they both compliment each other.

Wonderful experience from beginning to end. Sarah in the front office was super friendly and great for organizing pickups around town and providing details about the trip beforehand. Our pilot, Alex, was excellent and flew us over some of the coolest landscapes imaginable. Milford Sound itself was like something out of a dream; we can hardly believe we got to cruise around there for the afternoon. If this isn't on your bucket list, it should be. Can't recommend this trip highly enough!! We are so thankful we had this opportunity.
FWIW we did this with our 5 month old and despite one meltdown on the cruise we would still recommend this trip for those with young children. The 10 min nature walk from the runway to the docks was not to be missed and short enough that we just carried him - no need for a stroller/pram. Air Milford was very accommodating, giving us the back seats on the plane, which had more legroom/space for baby stuff.

This is a beautiful review to have the pleasure of responding to. It is a real highlight of my role when I get to relay this onto staff, so I will be sure to pass this onto Sara & Alex.
You cover a lot of detail, and as a family business I love nothing more than candid feedback on how the trip goes travelling with little ones. Four hours of perfection can be too much to ask for many toddlers, however the smooth tune of the Cessna engine regularly puts them to sleep during the flight, which is welcome for any parent!
The walk between airport and cruise is also a highlight, to take photos and learn more about the native flora and fauna from your Pilot.
On behalf of the team, thanks for putting the time into this comprehensive response. We hope to have you return with grown up family, who with a bit of luck will shout Mum & Dad! :)

What a way to visit / see the surrounding environment on the way to Milford sound. The flight allowed us to be able to fully appreciate the marvels that mother nature has created around this area that you would otherwise not have know existed from a car / bus ride. All the staff were very friendly and helpful along with the pilots being informative while providing commentary before and during the flight. A locally owned and operated company with a modern fleet. Thanks for the experience.

The flights to and from Milford were definitely the highlight of our trip. Super friendly staff and awesome pilots. Saw fur seals on the boat trip and got wet in the waterfall. All in all a fantastic trip and well worth the money.

Absolutely amazing experience! We did the fly-crusie-fly into milford.
Air Milford collected us from our hotel and took us out to the plane, the staff were very lovely!
The plane was a little 10 seater but very comfy, the views from the plane were absolutely stunning! The pilot was very good at pointing out what we where flying over, the cruise was a once in a lifetime experience and air milford had even reserved us window tables on the boat.
They keep the windows in the plane nice and clean so perfect for photography as well.

Hi Libby,
I’m sorry your question has somehow slipped through the gaps, hopefully you are yet to fly... or more likely have given birth to a healthy child: congratulations. For future travellers we don’t recommend guests flying who are over 30 weeks. Milford is so remote there is little in the way of medical care if something were to happen.
We encourage those with infants to fly as they are free under the age of two.

How long does it last from pick up to drop off? And our company will be with calls this Milford Flightseeing tour so is that w/ a different company or is it yours or is it the Nauture Cruise or the other cruise & how are the 2 different? 3 ?'s in 1, sorry!

Our trip was about 4.5 hours from pick up to drop off. We went with the company Air Milford on their Nature Cruise. There are a number of companies offering the same or similar tours from Queenstown. I've only been on the one tour so can't comment on differences with other tours or companies.
