Pano was an awesome guide. I told him my skill level and interests and he set a great route. It was a fun day. They rented me a good enduro bike and helmet, and picked me up and dropped me off. Highly recommended.

What a cool adventure to never forget. Together with Orlin we went on a mountain bike adventure in the mountains near Sofia. Excellent and comfortable mountain bikes and well-spoken tour guide Orlin. He takes your level of cycling into account, which is very nice. In addition, Orlin can tell you a lot about the area and Sofia. Thank you!

So we ended up in Sofia for a cheap winter city break hoping to find some Christmas markets etc but it turns out they don't really do that in Sofia. After walking around the city for a day it became clear that there wasn't much to do (unless ur into museums and churches etc).
But this is a city surrounded by mountains... I love mountains!! And despite not bringing any MTB gear with me, a quick (actually long) trip to decathlon got me some essentials and I met up with my very friendly guide Lyubo, who is actually the founder of mtb-bg.com !! So he knows what he's doing.
Lyubo spoke perfect English and after chatting for a while it was clear he knew the place like the back of his hand. He took the time to get to know my skill level and set up the full sus 170mm travel pulse rs1 properly for me and boy did it pay off. The day started with a pretty gruelling climb but I was glad of it to warm me up in the -3 temp. And the payoff was worth it!! The trail was epic, with fast flowy stuff, steep techy stuff as well as some big slick rock sections with many line choices and some awesome drops. The bike filled me with confidence on terrain I wouldn't have tackled on my hard tail.
According to Strava we took in part of the Lokorsko enduro?? It was an amazing trail and it was clear we weren't even scratching the surface of what was available in this horseshoe of mountains around the city.
A half hour drive with some snacks provided by Lyubo's mum took us to our next trail. A shorter but crazy steep climb had us hike'a'biking to the top for what Lyubo described as his favourite flow trail. We dropped in and I was loving the tight twisty single-track with trees whistling past my ears when a hidden rock washed out my front wheel and sent me otb into a tree!! When I'd recovered from being winded, but otherwise uninjured, I looked at the bike to discover I'd taco'd the front wheel... GUTTED!!
Lyubo came back up to meet me and after checking I was ok, he insisted I ride his bike down the rest of the trail. In his words, he gets to ride that trail everyday, I might never see it again. I was very grateful but with confidence knocked I tiptoed my way down the mountain cursing my bad luck.
All in all a fantastic day with an excellent host. I would highly recommend bike ventures if you are in this area looking for adventure. I will definitely be back to see what else the mountains have to offer mountain bikers in spring/summer.

We had a great enduro bike vacation in Bulgaria with Bike Venture team.
The vacation was on Mid July for 8 days (6 days of riding)
We were group of 4, of experience riders.
Our experience in bike vacation includes Italy, Romenia, Andora, French, so we have the perspective of a good vacation....
We had two sleeping locations, the first was in Borevetz - we stayed at Rila Hotel .
The first two days of riding were in Vitosha mountain - the trails are maintained by local riders, theyt are relative smooth and very fast.
The next two days we spent in Borevents Bike Park. It has 3 major lines (with 2 branches) and optional of all mountain trail near the park.
From Borevetz we moved to Bansko, we stopped on the way for couple of runs in a town I forgot the name... though the trails there were great as well.
In Bansko we had two days of riding.
The trails there are maintained by local riders and we stayed in a small family hotel which was great (the owners are riders themselves and are very friendly and helpful).
Comments to improve
1) It is better to sleep in Sofia instead of Borevetz as there is nothing to do in Borevetz, or as an option to sleep in Sofia for two days and Borevetz for two days
2) The hotel breakfast starts at 8AM , and it delays the morning start time. I would recommend skip that breakfast and for the team to bring groceries for sandwiches to eat on the way, so U could earn more riding time
Bike venture team are great instructors and riders, they are professionals and they are very friendly and customer oriented.
We could make changes to the overall plan, repeat trails that we likes, choose the launch time and so on.
Overall, we had great experience and I highly recommended this vacation with Bike Venture

We (16 students) had an epic ride through Vitosha and downhill trail back to Sofia.
The bikes were in great (brand new), the guides were cooperative, fun and skilled. The ride itself was challenging yet, doable. Right adjusted to our level. We had an incredible fun day!
Highly recommended.

I was looking for a nice alternative action during my stay in Sofia (early June), and MTB is a passion of mine. I found the company Bike Ventures and checked their proposed rides for the greater area of Sofia/Bulgaria. After some e-mail traffic with Orlin wherein he asked me all the necessary things like what I prefer to ride (Enduro, CC, AM), how many days I will spend and of course my technical skills, he offered me a 2 day Enduro ride in Blagoevgrad & Bansko and a 1 day ride in Vitosha mountain (local mountain range of Sofia, up to 2290m).
In Blagoevgrad & Bansko I was guided by Dobri, a very experienced guide with enviable skills in riding (Enduro Racer). For the overnight stay in Bansko they booked the Hotel “White Lavina” – thanks to the manager Alex and his family.
The Vitosha mountain trip was guided by Panajot. He shows me the incredible area of this old volcano. We had an unbelievable downhill ride of approx. 1700m difference in altitude, down from Black Peak to a suburbia of Sofia. 18.6 km total fun.
During all our tours we have been shuttled by car or van. The number of uphill meters (except the last on the Vihosha trail, there we had to climb approx. 500m difference in altitude) were therefore very low. The weather condition were perfect. In Bansko we had some rain but this was not a big issue, the grip at the selected tails were good.
I rented also a bike (Pulse QRS, Pulse is a Bulgarian bike manufacturer), the helmet and knee protectors. The material was generally in good condition, especially the performance of the bikes was surprising. But for the next tour I will bring my own helmet, is a question of comfort.
Finally, I really enjoyed the trips as offered by Orlin (thanks for the perfect organisation) and guided by Dobri and Panajot (two other owners of the company).
For all people looking for a good guided tour in Bulgaria (a perfect alternative to the Alps for landscape, food and hospitality) I can highly recommend the team of Bike Ventures. I definitely will come back as soon as I can to ride more trails in Bulgaria.
regards
Olaf

I took two day tours with Bike Ventures 1) to the Vitosha mountains above Sofia and 2) to the Rila mountains c. 1 hour from Sofia. I strongly recommend both of them and Bike Ventures. The guides were very knowledgable about the areas, knew exactly where to go to find the best trails and were able to give me some hints to improve my technique. They are able to tailor rides to suit your ability and have access to some very challenging riding. This was some of the best riding I have ever done. Thanks!

Hi, we are visiting in the weekend from 20-23 september. We are with a group of 11. Is that group size possible and what is included in the €90 as we can not bring any gear our selves.
