We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour with Caleb. He is very warm and engaging, and his colorful curation of Ernest Hemingway's life and times in Key West was fascinating and fun. He was able to make something he does frequently feel fresh. We enjoyed getting to know him and seeing Key West through the eyes of a Hemingway aficionado.

Liz, the tour guide is friendly, informative and organized. It’s a well paced tour and we learned a lot about Hemingway and a bunch about the island also. Would recommend the tour to anyone who can handle an approximate 1.5 mile casual walk and can hear normally. It can be a little noisy along the way.

This was a great tour! The attention and thoughtfulness Carol showed us was beyond sweet. When Mark wasn't giving us great insight in Hemingway's life, Carol was giving us tidbits about Hemingway too, she also told us where to see great sunsets and suggested locations to visit. Never a dull moment. Carol and Mark were so down to earth and easy to talk to. We appreciate all the attention they showed us. Thank you Mark and Carol.

First of all, call this a Hemingway Walking Tour with lunch - not a food tour. The only time we ever got out of the sun and the too fast paced walk was a sit down lunch that we had to scarf down in 20 minutes. The guide did not interact with us very well, wanting to only walk and talk with one another person so we really couldn't hear that well (there were only 5 on the tour other than the guide). She also got some things wrong about Hemingway (getting confused on the wives and the number of years he was married). According to our guide, Hemingway must have been married at 10. Reason I know this is because we had visited the Hemingway House and had an amazing guide. Our tour guide here also didn't know Hemingway had a sister boat now located in the Bass Pro shop in Islamorada. So, if you want to know all about Hemingway, visit the house and take a guided tour and then go to Kermit's and get your own lunch, which BTW was very good, although we didn't know what we were getting (including a rum drink) until it was hastily plopped in front of us. We were so disappointed in this tour. But if you enjoy long, fast walks to a few signs that says Hemingway was here, and hopefully you are not a vegetarian or teetotaler, then by all means, you'll enjoy this tour. If not, well, then just pass on by. Of course, judging by all the favorable reviews of this tour, we may have just had a not-so-good tour guide.

We are so sorry you feel that way. The Hemingway Food and Walking Tour is the premier tour in Key West. However, people who are highly critical are unlikely to experience the full beauty of this tour. Under our tour details and "What to Expect " it clearly states that our tour is moderately paced and suitable for most fitness levels. Unfortunately, you were unable to keep pace with the group, who were then forced to constantly wait on you. The tour guide was still very patient and waited for you to catch up at each stop before sharing her historical narrative. Once the tour guide recognized your slow pace, she was forced to slow the tour down, which then caused other guests to miss parts of the tour.
Also, under "What to Expect" is the lunch menu. Once you were seated, it was again verbally explained to you what you would be having for lunch. The tour guide was kind and considerate to you throughout the tour and asked you several times if there was anything she could get for you.
It is clearly evident that you should not have taken this tour, as you placed an undue burden on the tour guide and the other guests. 97 percent of our guests highly recommend our tour with glowing reviews.
What we find particularly disturbing is that you tried to blame the tour guide for your negative experience, when in fact she did everything she could to accommodate you. In addition, you make suggestions that are clearly an attempt to sabotage the tour business itself. Why would you do such a thing?

Mark and Cassie were terrific guides. By the time we were done I felt I had a real understanding of Hemmingway as a person. The various sights were interesting and obviously beautiful. The food was also good. I felt I got more than my money’s worth. I highly recommend this tour.

My daughter and I had a personal tour with Carol and Mark for the Hemingway Food and Walking Tour. We met at the Hemingway house and spent the next two hours touring Key West on foot and learning about Hemmingway's Key West. We enjoyed pink shrimp and chicken tacos and finished near the marina with Key Lime pie. Mark was very knowledgable and we thoroughly enjoyed learning about Hemingway's life at Key West. Carol set up the tour and listened to what I wanted an gave us exactly that. For us the personal tour was the way to go, however I imagine the larger group tour would work well for families. It was a great start to our Key West Vacation and the best tour we did.

This was a fascinating and fabulous walking tour! The tour guide, Caleb, made all the difference in the world. He was extremely knowledgeable about all things Hemingway and kept the conversation lively throughout the entire walking tour also included in our tour that we didn’t even realize it was lunch and a rum punch WITH amazing Keylime pie for dessert. It was a warm sunny day and as I stated, Caleb was a fabulous guide. We’re so happy we took this tour and learned so much—good stuff ‼️

Our tour guide Caleb was an aspiring local author himself, so the stories he told of Hemingway were rich with lore and mystic. Caleb also added a few non-Hemingway Key West facts along the way. The tour was a well worth adventure, the food at Kermits KW pies was fresh and tasty with dessert being their famous key lime pie. Concluding the trip at the original Sloppy Joes/Captain Tony's with a Priate Punch was a perfect ending.

This is a wonderful way to get to know Key West and appreciate the Key West that Hemingway knew. While the tour does not include a tour of Hemingway's residence on Whitehead Street, the tour does visit most of the places that Hemingway frequented. Our tour guide, Caleb, was excellent. A novelist himself, he had an excellent knowledge of Hemingway's life and writings. His stories about Hemingway and his influence on Key West added an extra dimension to our discovery of the history and culture of Key West. The tour included an early lunch at Kermit's Key West Lime Shoppe which included a slice of its famous Key Lime Pie. It was a great way to spend the morning.

Caleb walked us around the neighborhood of Hemingway house and gave us a great history of the man and the area. He was very articulate and provided many insightful observations of lesser known facts about him. He also provided a good intro into the living history of Key West. The meal was very good too.

What is the best way to get to the tour start, from a cruise ship and how long would it take to get there? Also, is the museum seen during the 2 hours or do we see it afterwards? Our ship is in Key West from 8 -5 in December. It's a Saturday. Is it crowded to get into the museum? Thanks for any assistance you can give me. I really like the idea of going on this walking tour while I am there.

I did the Hemingway food and walking tour and it was incredible. You can Uber and get anywhere on the island in 10 minutes. Walking might take about 20 minutes I’m guessing not real sure where your ship is landing. The museum was not included in my tour. But that’s where the tour started and my guide gave me a lot of details and facts about it.
