Day Skipper course in Nov. 2024
I had a great time and learned a lot!
Ovi has a relaxed way of teaching, he manages to explain the theoretical parts in an engaging way, always connecting it to the actual part of sailing, so it never feels boring.
Regarding the sailing, we did some excursions around the Las Galletas harbour and the south tip, waypoints, blind navigation, a night sailing session, MOB and sailing excercise, and Ovi explained a lot about the physics of the boat, sails and wind.
Pretty cool was the no-helm tacking just by sail and balance :)
What I especially enjoyed was the atmosphere on the boat and in the group.
We had a great companionship, always working together as a team, also when it came to cooking onboard, with each of the group preparing food for the crew one day (although having an Italian, a French and a German in the same kitchen - but luckily also a Spanish chef - there were discussions about how to properly prepare certain dishes :D)
Also, the booking and administrational part of the course was super easy.
Judith was always available for any questions I had, by email and - which I prefer - personally by phone!
Thanks and I hope to be back soon to continue my education with you guys :)

Great sailing experience

I had a great time at Club Yachting. The sailing course was great. The atmosphere, the team work and everything was perfect. I had great communication before going to the course ,during the course and after it. I have to say that the highlight of the course was Fabio, the instructor. He was super knowledgeable about the water (being a sailing instructor and a Dive instructors Instructor). You could see that he has been doing the instructors job for a good amount of time as he was always patient and able to transmit the vast knowledge he had in an easy way so everyone could understand and be able to digest it. He was always super professional and attentive to each student knowing that our sailing experiences were different. Fabio managed to make every sailing exercise a learning experience for everyone. His communication and interpersonal skills worked like glue making the group of different backgrounds and nationalities a compact team. We enjoyed learning about sailing and enjoyed spending time all together. As soon as I can, I plan on going back to follow another course with Fabio.

Great sailing experience

I had a great time at Club Yachting. The sailing course was great. The atmosphere, the team work and everything was perfect. Roulette charters sailing in tenerife was absolutely amazing. Recommend to everyone. We were picked up from our hotel and taken to the marina . The boat was an Oddosy 40 . Beautiful and clean. The staff was so friendly . Food and free bar on board was a lovely surprise.
The skipper was able to find massive amount of dolphin's. The pictures we took were amazing. It was an incredible trip and well worth the money. They also returned us back to the hotel at no extra cost. I find this truly amazing. We will be returning to the same people .... thank you 😊

I had a last-minute change to my plans for Oct 2022 and ended up booking time in Tenerife off the cuff. Looking around for how to spend my time I saw Club Yachting and joined a 'Competent Crew Course'. Ovi who runs the club is both a lovely person and a good teacher and sailor. I happened to join when two others were doing more advances courses, it was great to watch, learn and muck in. Importantly I felt safe at sea and with the crew. I'd highly recommend doing a course with Club Yachting, they're a good crew.

After buying a sailboat in Tenerife, we needed to learn how to sail (yeah maybe would have been better vice versa). We contacted Ovi and that was the good choice. Theory course was perfectly clear and we cover even more than the requirement for DaySkipper. Then practice with Pablo was a real pleasure, Pablo is serious, passionate and really skilled. Well, you want to learn how to sail, trust them and go with Club Yatching Tenerife !!!

It was a sea survival course. The course itelf was great. Instructor was great. However all the things went wrong. the life raft did not self inflate (they said it was for tutorial purpuse only. so I did not see a life raft inflating itself no matter I travelled few thousand miles to see it :)))) )
To pump it with a (theoratically ) built in hand pump was not possible because it was not inside the life raft. We had to wait until the owner's father brought it to usto the swimming pool (20-30km) In my opinion it had been a great thing if a suitsble pump would have been carried in the car just in case...
Anyway no harm to any of us while we were waiting in the jacuzi....:)
oh and their club house or appartment (since there is no sign of any bussines activty) is not in Las Galletas. They probably forgot to change that.... honest mistake...

I took the RYA DaySkipper course in Las Galletas with Ovi and had a great time doing so. Sailing was great and offered all types of challenges.
Theory took place in Las Chafiras, which is not a touristy area.
Ovi is a very patient instructor when it comes to explaining theory. He and his team welcome their guests as friends :)

Many thanks for all Yachtclub team who made my sailing holiday unforgettable.
As a professional seaman who spent many years at commercial vessels, would say that I got a lot of experience, knowledges and fun to sail on board they sailing yachts.
100% highly recommend for people who dream about !

After the first 5 weeks of my FT Yachtmaster course I could appreciate the experience and support of the staff. The location is great, with wonderful weather and different sailing zones offering comfortable to challenging wind conditions for learning, or for just practising. The course focuses on what really matters, without whistles and bells, that explains its affordable cost. Will plan the second part of the course asap.

I’ve just finished Day Skipper course with Club Yachting. I’ve learned a lot and enjoyed the ocean. Mike and Ovi are both great sailors and do their best for you to enjoy your time.

My husband and I are thinking of purchasing a moody 33 mk 2 yaught but are complete novices. Would you be able to offer advice on how to get the basic licence to be able to sale and more or less the costs. I look forward to hearing from you. Kind regards Nicola Atkins
