We chose the dove for your pearl experience and it was unreal! The snorkeling area was incredible and full of life! We were so proud to find our oysters and get our pearls! It was an experience I'll treasure forever! The staff was exceptional and friendly and the demonstration of harvesting was fascinating and informative. The shop has beautiful tasteful jewelry and I came home with a few extra pearls for my collection! Loved every minute and so very grateful for the unforgettable experience!

Very informative to see the process of seeding and harvesting Tahitian cultured pearls. Well done! The gift shop has many choices. The snorkelling around the coral gardens surrounding the pearl farm was wonderful. Lots of colourful fishes.

We went to this little house on stilts during our catamaran cruise.
The explanations and demonstration of the pearl manufacturing process were very interesting, the graft, the insemination….
Summer is very pleasant.
On the other hand, we found the prices of pearls quite high.

All you could want to know about black pearls. Summer, the proprietor was warm, friendly and full of information. Great experience, especially the snorkeling afterward.

We sort of stumbled on this hidden gem. A group of us were sailing in French Polynesia and we asked our outfitter about things to do. The outfitter suggested checking out this pearl farm. We sort of dismissed the idea but on day 4 of our trip we were in the area. I am so glad we stopped for a visit! There’s really a lot to growing Tahitian pearls! We learned all about it on the tour! The “farm” is, of course, in the water. A “house” over the water is where the tour takes place. You’ll learn all about the process, which is very interesting.
The owner of the farm gave us our tour and she is so wonderful! She gave us tips on where to go and what to do. She also let us stay on the farm’s mooring ball overnight.
As part of the tour, you can snorkel on the reefs surrounding the farm. Some of the best snorkeling anywhere!
In talking to the owner, she mentioned that her husband was just starting a catering business serving authentic Polynesian food. We decided to try it. It was DELICIOUS! He actually delivered the food to our sailboat. It was sensational — the best food we had in French Polynesia. He tailored the menu to what we liked. We even had leftovers for lunch the next day. The catering company did not yet have a name, but they were considering “Tahitian Vibes.” Check it out if you have the chance.

My spouse and I decided to go for the pearl dive tour and we were not disappointed! Summer (manager and American ex-pat) was very helpful and reached out to me shortly after booking the tour online. We were only on Raiatea for 1 day so she made suggestions of other things to do after we finished our morning pearl dive.
The tour took about 3 hours. Reno and Summer boated us out to the overwater hut and reef. Summer explained and Reno demonstrated how pearls are farmed. We snorkeled to find our oysters in the reef and Reno opened them for us because they keep the oyster alive to make more pearls. We got very lucky and had large pearls in our oysters! We finished up the tour by snorkeling the reef and shopping the pearl store in the hut.
If you are debating whether or not you should do this while in French Polynesia, I would say stop thinking and just book it! Not only were we glad that we did the pearl farm but it also gave us a chance to see the island of Raiatea. Raiatea is a very nice, well maintained island that isn't super touristy.

Summer is the ultimate hostess and very knowledgeable about pearl farming.
We booked our tour as part of our Windstar cruise on board the Star Breeze. The whole tour was well organized & informative.
If you are going to take the plunge & buy a pearl necklace why not have a story to tell. Diving for your own pearl laden oyster is a great way to create a memory around your purchase.
Summer is a great sales person & very low/no pressure. The pearls sell themselves.
And the pearls are only part of the adventure. Snorkeling around the pristine waters surrounding the pearl farm is relaxing & stress free.
I highly recommend this tour and we would do it again. Thanks Summer

We had visited the Pearl farm in 2018 and had such a great time we wanted to go back as this is much more than a tour…More like an overall excursion. We booked our visit through the Pearl farm website including a day/night mooring for our catamaran. Lara was prompt in confirming through email. When we arrived we were happy to see 3 new moorings that had recently been installed and worked well for our 5.4 Bali. We parked in one of the further moorings then moved closer once we connected with Summer and Reno (sp) when the transferred us to the farm.
Summer and Reno picked our group of 10 up directly on our Cat. They had nice big boat for going to the farm. They shared info about the area and also the new moorings specifically a detailed path to the closet one as it is close to the oyster fields.
Summer gave us a great presentation on the farm and process to implant and harvest the pearls in the Oysters. Reno provided a demonstration of the process. Total tour time about 45 min.
We then all snorkeled around the farm that had beautiful coral and fish. We got to watch Reno free dive to work on some of the Oysters.
We were very excited to find a Manta Ray in the small lagoon as we snorkeled. So close to us. We watched it from the water, from the deck of Pearl farm and later from our Catamaran.
No pressure from Summer to buy but our group did purchase some of the beautiful pearls.
We did snorkel around the farm later in the afternoon. Such a great experience. One of our favorite highlights of our trip to the Society Islands. A great last stop for our Dream Yacht Charter Catamaran trip. So quiet, fun to swim out to the edge of the reef the watch a beautiful sunset. We left the next morning at 7am for our 8am return to gas/base.

This is a very well run tour of a working pearl farm. You are taken out to the reef in the lagoon by a boat where the staff does a hands on demonstration of how the oysters are implanted so they can make the beautiful Tahitian Black pearls. Then you can go snorkeling around the platform where the tour takes place. The reef is very beautiful and you can dive down to see how the oysters are kept while they are producing the pearls. Well worth the visit.

First, call them, do not try and find them on your own as they are located off shore and you need to make an appointment for a tour. That said, this was one of the best activities we did on any Island. The hostess picked us up at the dock along with Reno and they took us by boat to the building located off shore where the store is. They demonstrated how oysters are seeded, harvested and stored underwater where they "grow" the pearl. They also explained the growth process and included knowledge I did not already have. TAKE YOUR SNORKEL GEAR!!! The waters around the "store" were some of the best we experienced, seriously. The prices at the store seemed reasonable especially when you factor the free tour !! Plan ahead, they are not open every day, but if you can make it happen, do the tour!!

Can you dive for oysters and have them opened and keep the pearl inside? Thank you…. We did that at The Farm in Bora a few years ago and would like to do it again but we were told that the farm closed.

I was in Raiatea a few years back and there was a tour of the Pearl Farm and then you were taken over to Ta'ha to snorkel down a beautiful lagoon. We were able to feed fish bread - it was the best experience. Do they still offer that? What are the contact details of the tour group if this still exists.

Yes, they still do this at the Anapa Pearl farm. They will come and pick you up on shore and take you in their boat out to the farm and there is snorkel time if you choose. Check out the website for tour info and email address
