Breath taking views of snow clad mountain and beautiful lake. Just 2 km from Baralacha la. Must stop. Beware of rolling stones from the mountains. Cars were stopped for sometime.

Absolutely amazing... I would say that it is the most beautiful lake that I have seen... the scenery around is wonderful and the color of the water adds to the beauty... you can also see layer of ice and patches of snow all around... it is however extremely cold and hence be prepared... we went in May and it was sub zero and oxygen level is also low... this is almost 15000 ft+ height

Nice place in the middle of nowhere, with mountains all around.
During season people visit the same and litter it with empty water/ alcohol bottles and chips wrappers.

We passed through baralacha la while returning from ladakh.
And after passing the pass there was Suraj talk, a fabulous lake,situated in picturesque Lahaul valley.
It's origin of bhaga tributary of Chenab or Chandrabhaga river.
We can only see the lake from above , can't descend down there, but view are magnificent.
No facility of stay near the surajtal as compared to Chandrtaal in Spiti. But still worth stopping there!

visited the place with family by road from after staying one night at Manali. All were very sad after seeing the Rohtang Pass clear mountains with blackish pollution without any snow anywhere as expecting snowwhite bed in area, it seems like dry desert of mountains only.
But after visiting the picturesque views of Suraj Tal and breathtaking highly speed winds on the spot encouraged us to go ahead with more kilometers and finally reached at Sarchu. amazing views in and around the valley on the way between Keylong to Sarchu with only single snacks point and rest space for especially for bikers.

Suraj Tal lake is also known as lake of Sun God is situated in the upper Himalayan zone in the Lahul & Spiti valley of Himachal Pradesh. It is the third highest lake in India located at a height of 4950 m above sea level. The lake is surrounded by mesmerized ice clad mountains. After visiting Deepak Tal our car moved towards Bara-la-cha-la Pass. It took more than two hours to travel from Keylong to Bara-la-cha-la Pass and the Surj Tal lake lies just below the Pass. When we reached near the lake it was drizzling and blowing cold wind . All of a sudden the weather became bad so we couldn't spend more time near the lake. Captured the scenic beauty of lake with sterile blue water in our camera from the car. The spellbound beauty of Suraj Tal captivates and refreshes the whole journey of us.
