A really good trip up into the Blue mountains with the added bonus of a fabulous chair lift back down (5 lev extra) but worth it. Also included was a four corse meal and a tour of a typical old Bulgarian village. It was a long trip of eleven hours which was the only downside.

Fantastic views of the wonderful quiet picturesque countryside. The only sounds were from what was a mild wind at the time.

Had a great time doing a trip to the blue mountains from Sunny Beach!
Visited a lovely restaurant among other places and learnt a lot about Bulgaria from the tour guide.
Definitely worth the trip and I hope to visit again sometime!

Pernottando a Zheravna e dopo aver visitato la città è necessario fare una tappa ai Sinite Kamani, o Montagne Blu che dominano l'abitato di Sliven. Ci si può andare con l'auto oppure c'è una funicolare che conduce alla cima.

Went on a trip with local travel agent from sunny beach. Visited mountains as part of that trip and went on the chairlift. It looks old but was one of the smoothest quietest rides we have experienced and more than worth 10lev. Would recommend giving it a go.

We were attracted to the description of this tour and since Jet2 our operator did not have it up and running we booked via one of the many street shops OK Tours.The-company running the tour were SENIMAT.We waited at the appointed bus stop from 0800 and were not too surprised when the coach owned by arrived 20 minutes late.The next two hours were spent in collecting further passengers- Brits,Russians and Germans.The guide explained that his commentary would be repeated in all 3 languages.We were then taken to a roadside services ,where the provider clearly had a deal ,to use toilets and purchase drinks etc. and from there to a winery for a perfunctory description and wine tasting and an opportunity to buy.From there we were driven to Zheravna where before we were taken to the preserved house and lunch we were led to a series of street vendors and given a sales spiel.The house was interesting and the lunch pleasant and we were then released for a very limited opportunity to look around the very. attractive village. From there we travelled to the Blue mountain at which time we became aware through observation that the driver had been struggling to get the air conditioning working.The drive was scenic but increasingly uncomfortable.Those who elected not to go to the ski lift were told to take 5 minutes for photographs and return promptly to the coach as it would go to meet the chair lift party at the bottom.It became clear that something was amiss as the coach remained parked and those who had gone to the chair lift with the guide straggled back.No explanation was given by the guide and the driver spoke only Bulgarian. Those who had gone to the chairlift had found that it as well as the coach air conditioning was not operating. No apology was given and tempers rose with the temperature to 30

My partner and I joined the Blue Mountain Tour operated by Balkan Holidays and we loved it!
We were taken by coach to the mountain village of Zheravna which was beautiful, traditional and unique. The views are wonderful and the air is so clean.
The church is interesting and the guide was very informative.
The streets are cobbled and seemed to be a challenge for those in the wrong shoes.
We then got back on the coach and visited Slevin, being given the choice to travel down the chairlift for an extra 10 Leva which is a must do! The views were fantastic, it was peaceful and calm and we felt perfectly safe on it.
We then had lunch at a lovely restaurant overlooking a river. The food and wine was lovely and as a vegan, I and another girl on the trip were catered for.
After that we visited a winery and had a short wine tasting, being given the chance to buy the wines afterwards - at 5 Leva a bottle it was an easy choice!!
The coach stops on the way to the mountains and also on the way back at a cafe for a quick drink and comfort break. (The toilet cost .50 lev each)
We loved this tour and got to see some wonderful views and get a sense of the real Bulgaria.

Балканский хребет, который также называют Стара Планина, где находятся те самые Синие камни, пожалуй, самый знаменитый в Болгарии по своей протяженности, и по сути разбивает Болгарию на Южную и Северную, протянувшись от границы с Сербией до Черного моря.
А своим названием эти скалы обязаны природному феномену, связанному с цветовыми эффектами, которые возникают в зависимости от освещающих горы солнечных лучей. Говорят, скалы кажутся то светло-синими, почти голубыми, то синими, то фиолетовыми, то серо-черными. И сложены они из какой-то особенной породы. Может быть, в рассветных или закатных лучах они таковыми и являются неискушенному зрителю, но когда мы наконец-то туда добрались, дело близилось к полудню, и те самые волшебные лучи, которые обычно придают всему окружающему необыкновенный эффект, благополучно закончились, а камни показались скорее зеленоватыми из-за покрывающего их мха, а в основном банально серыми. Хотя где-то на осыпающемся срезе у дороги обратила внимание, что действительно цвет этих камешков светло-голубоватый.
Тем не менее, поездку туда рекомендую хотя бы из-за подъема на канатке, которая поднимает на высоту 600м через горные перевалы и позволяет насладиться отличными ландшафтами и открывающимся видами на Сливен. Все это удовольствие занимает порядка 25 мин в одну сторону и стоит 15лево туда-обратно (фуникулер работает с 8.30 до 17.30) и пользуется большой популярностью не столько у туристов, как я поняла, сколько средь местного населения. А дальше - куда душе угодно – трекинговых троп, разных маршрутов там полно. Вообще вся эта местность, раскинувшаяся на многие гектары, считается чуть ли не заповедной зоной, потому что здесь произрастают какие-то эндемические сорта растений, занесенные в Красную книгу, водится множество редких птиц, орхидеи необыкновенные цветут… Имеются там и археологические раскопки, и средневековые крепости и монастыри, и термальные источники и минеральные воды, короче, развлечения на любой вкус. Посетили мы и горное озеро Карандила в тех же местах, неожиданно оказавшееся весьма оживленным местом, но впечатления особого оно не произвело, хотя для местных жителей соседних деревень, наверное, подобное развлечение, как озеро в горах, более интересно, чем сами горы. Я же лично получила удовольствие от канатки и горных троп. Все это, в общем, не напряжно, осиливается без особой физической подготовки, а виды просто чумовые!

Took day trip by bus tour to Blue Mountains, seen how local Bulgarians life in the countryside.
Walking tour with guide to some local sites, church, and museums.
Had lunch in local house style restaurant.
Took cable car ride from Sinite Kamani to Sliven. Then had free time in Skiven before returning back to Sunny Beach.
Left Sunny Beach at 8am and arrived back at 6.30, price 55 levs per person, which included lunch. Cable car was extra 10 lev.
Went with Vangel Shimov, a local tour company.
