Brilliant-myself and 5 year old boy loved the stream/brook meandering through the dense wood and the waterfalls topped it off. We took our shoes off and tested the really cold water-but soon dryed/warmed up after. Really good memories made there 😁

We drove up to see the waterfalls as the weather was very variable. There is very limited parking for 2/3 cars at a time. The nature reserve is lovely in better weather. The paths to the waterfall are rather treacherous, muddy and slippy even though they have made steps in the steeper areas. The waterfalls are lovely and especially when there has been a good amount of rain feeding them further up. There are no picnic places as far as I can see and no bins, so take litter home and no toilets apart from in Talgarth. We had a lovely time and will be back again. As an aside, across the road from the second passing place, there is a superb view of the old Talgarth Mental Hospital in complete dereliction.

Lovely peaceful place for an evening walk, we were the only ones on trail when we went. There are 3 parking places, each with only 2 spaces. For a walk that totals around 45minuts part at the furthest car park. The walk is along the river leading to two waterfalls and it is really lovely.

We wanted to do a walk with our 6 year old who isn’t the best at long walks but this was perfect. Interesting and muddy enough for him! Managed to see the lower waterfall and the main one which he loved. We went in August and it was very muddy!

The nature reserve is 8.5 hectares of beautiful ancient woodland, which slopes down to the banks of the River Ennig. At the eastern end of the reserve the river plunges over a spectacular waterfall into a dark pool below, known as the "witches pool" from which the reserve gets it name.
The nearest town is Talgarth and the reserve's grid reference is OS map sheet 161. Grid reference S0 165 326
The reserve is an open access reserve, so you are allowed to visit the reserve on foot for the quiet enjoyment of the wildlife present. A surfaced easy access path, with a gradient suitable for people in wheelchairs and pushchairs, leads from the small car park (beware - room for just 3-4 cards!) into the heart of the reserve. From here, a more uneven and sometimes muddy path leads to the main waterfall. A network of other unsurfaced trails run around the reserve.
Photographers - for the best light, visit in the afternoon when the sun reaches the gorge and waterfall.

Brave the narrow roads of Talgarth and enjoy the riverside walk on offer here. Parking for three/four cars only. There is an accessible ramp down to the river, but not to the waterfalls. For these you will need some good waterproof shoes when it's been raining as it will be very muddy in places. The upper path is, for the most part, off the road too. From the car park, take the kissing gate closest to the road for the lower path. The other gate has the info board and middle, accessible path. If you are patient and quiet, you can find a spot and see all sorts of birds: nuthatch, blue tits, grey wagtail and if you are lucky a heron flying up the river under the trees. Photographers should wait until 3pm when the sun will have come around the valley to hit the large waterfall at the east end of the reserve. A few benches dotted about. No other facilities (though none expected).

We stumbled upon this spot by accident, having visited the mill at Talgarth & looking for somewhere to eat our picnic (and fresh bread!) We pulled up at the first available parking spot, which just happened to be above some steps leading down to the waterfall.
The steps were quite steep and muddy following rain the night before, but my 4 and 6 year olds managed it & saw it as an adventure. We ate our picnic at the top of the waterfall before climbing down to the river bed for paddling, exploring & amazing scenery. Following a fairly dry summer so far, the river was quite shallow & dry, but I imagine it to be a completely different view at other times of the year.
It really is a hidden gem and well worth seeking out.

There is a small parking area and an easy access path down to the river. However, if you want to visit the waterfall, you will need to be prepared for rough paths and sometimes steep drops. However it is well worth visiting if you are able to get to it. Even if you can't, this is a nice broadleaf woodland and well worth a visit.

A little gem of a wild and peaceful woodland walk to the waterfall. Narrow road to the start but you can park further away and walk. Great when the waterfall is frozen in winter.

Came here for a quick stop before heading home from a short break in Talgarth. We had our 3 year old daughter with us who managed the walk to the main waterfall viewing area just fine. Enjoyed the spectacular views and took some amazing photos

Hi
From the town square it would take about 45 minutes to walk to the waterfall. It's a pretty steep hill but the scenery is stunning. I haven't been for a few years but the path through the nature park can be quite slippy and muddy but if you're in the area it is well worth the trek.
There are a couple of routes back, either the same way or along the 'back road' through the old hospital grounds. This takes you along gorgeous country track, past the cricket ground (if it's still there) and ends up near the beautiful church and the Castle hotel. Takes around the same length of time.
Enjoy your trip!
