We've been here before, and we were looking to come back. Parking is easy and free. There are lots of places for a picnic. The lake is absolutely wonderful for a swim. It gets deep very quickly, but the temperature is very pleasant (even in winter).
There were signs saying a crocodile had been seen in the last week, and this made several people too scared to swim. Apparently, there has long been a freshwater crocodile in Lake Eacham, but I doubt it would want to be near humans. We swam anyway, as did the locals.
There were plenty of fish around.
Great place, and we will be back.

It was our 1st time visiting this beautiful lake…. I just couldn’t get over the colour of the water, my gosh! Plenty of car parks and picnic tables & barbecues .. There’s grassed areas to put a rug or mat out on… Lovely spot for a swim or a little dive off the pontoon.. It was holiday time when we visited so there were plenty of people around enjoying themselves.. If you have a canoe or kayak it would be lovely to just go for a paddle around the lake to explore… Well worth a visit if your visiting the Atherton Tablelands or in the Cairns area.. 10/10 from us

We were blown away by how beautiful Lake Eacham was and wish we had planned for more time to spend there and wish we had taken our swimmers.
The lake is perfect for paddle boarding or kayaking.
The walk around part of the lake is definitely worth doing.
1 hour for a quick visit but could easily spend a day. Great spot for a picnic.
Tips: Go early, we went early and the car park was already filling up with people visiting for the day.
If travelling from Cairns or Lake Barrine, when using GPS, do not go down Wrights Creek Rd. The access this way is blocked (Closed at Gadgarra Rd) and you'll need to turn around and head back. There are no signs up to indicate this and google maps is not updated (Sep 22 we went but it looks to have been permanently closed for a while). Go past Wrights Creek Rd and let the GPS re-route to Lake Barrine Rd and then Lakes Drive

We walked around both Lake Eacham and Lake Barrine. Both tracks are through dense rainforest and don't just follow the edge of the lake. The slopes of the craters are too steep, especially Lake Eacham. So in both cases most of the time you are some distance from the lake, admiring water glimpses rather than views. We probably preferred the Barrine walk. While it is nearly twice as long, there were fewer people and we could have a celebratory coffee at the teahouse when we finished. There is more scope for swimming, kayaking and other water sports at Eacham, if that is more your thing. Lake Eacham also excellent picnic facilities.

What a beautiful lake. The day we visited it was cold and miserable but we spent time wandering around and walked around lake along boardwalk. A lovely spot with the most gorgeous lake and a nice spot for a picnic and a swim if you are game. There are crocodile signs there but people were swimming.
Highly recommend visiting this gorgeous lake.

Beautiful place, lovely to take a dip. The minimum height is 1.6 metres so it is do overly suitable for young children. However, it was a great place for a BBQ, a swim and to relax. One of the best places of its kind in the area.

This place is lovely. Beautiful, easy track around the lake, with lots of magnificent trees, and lovely clear lke to swim in. Plenty of spots to picnic and bbq too, so perfect for families.

With a pleasant and extensive day-use area, Lake Eachem NP boasts a lovely setting that includes a 3km walking track that circumnavigated the lake. Well worth a stop if in the area.

Nestled in the lush rainforest of the Atherton Tablelands is the beautiful Lake Eacham.
A short 10 minute drive from Yungaburra, this former volcanic crater is a serene and tranquil place and is a must-visit when in Explore Tropical North Queensland.
Make a day of it with picnic areas and barbecue facilities available. Maybe jump off the pontoon into the crystal clear blue freshwater or paddle around on your SUP or kayak.
