Access to the Fort is gained through Cabrits national park. A weekly pass costing US$12 or EC$32.05 (cash only) is more economical if planning to visit other national parks in the country. Several buildings have been restored and there are also a couple of basic museums on site giving information on the forts history and wider information on the flora and fauna of the area although it has to be said that many of the displays have been better days. There are good views of the surrounding area from the gun battery locations.

Un beau site avec un monument qui surplombe la baie offrant une vue imprenable de Portsmouth.
Le plaisir se trouvent dans les sentiers de randonnées à partir de ce site, au bout desquels se méritent de formidables vues sur les côtes.

The views there are incredible. small restaurant, bar food. lots of trails. bring water and sunscreen. worth the trip if you are on the north of the island

Beautiful place of culture !!!
De belle histoire et cadre magnifique qui plonge sur le bord ouest !!! Du fort on verra bien toute la ville de Portsmouth !!!

We spent 11 days in Dominica and this was probably the least worthwhile thing we did. Perhaps if we had hired a guide, but there were none there. We did a little birding in the big area before entering.
We hiked up the west trail and that was a mistake. It was overgrown and led to a cannon with absolutely no view. Probably the trees have grown up and obscured it. There is far more interesting and beautiful hiking on the island.
There is some signage but definitely needs some attention.
We needed proof of vaccination to enter.

This is an historic fort with some hiking trails. There are some buildings that you can walk around and in, and some mowed walking trails. A beautiful view of the bay down below. It was a nice time.

Great views of the coast below. Well manicured area and well preserved fort. Needs more signage and more detail for the history of the place.

Небольшой, хорошо отреставрированный форт Ширли, находится в национальном парке Кабритс. Внутри осматривать абсолютно нечего, но снаружи он выглядит неплохо.

Under 1700-talet byggde Britterna en väldigt stor anläggning mellan Prince Rupert Bay i söder och Douglas Bay i norr, med utsikt över Karibiska havet. Kanonerna uppe vid fortet har renoverats och satts på de platser där de troligen stått tidigare. Renoveringen har gjort att det numera finns även en pub, inne i en av fortets byggnader. Byggnaderna utanför själva fortet, har däremot förfallit och djungeln har trängt in i den gamla garnisionens byggnader, vilka låg utspridda inom ett större område. Fortet är väl värt ett besök !
