Apart from the historical importance of this place and a fairly good viewpoint where the last of the Carib Indians leapt to their deaths rather than surrender to the French, there's little to recommend it. You need to park between the school and the church and then walk through the cemetery to find the spot. It has an impressive and fairly new monument to tell you about it but there's nothing else...

Great trip to show our youth the history of Grenada 🇬🇩 during the Slavery trade. They jumped off this hill rather than go into slavery such courage and inner strength, may they rest in peace and may we never forget..🙏🏾

We visited Leapers Hill whilst staying in nearby Grenville during our 3 month stay in Grenada. I had heard about the amazing vistas at the landmark and the ice cream before and was keen to visit.
We met Agnes who was very obliging and promptly offered us ice cream and coffee. The almond, nutmeg and coconut combo was delightful and followed by a tour of the site which was very informative, including information about the church, those notable locals buried in the cemetery and local turtle watching opportunity a little further up the coastline at Levera Beach. The site has restroom facilities and offers great photo opportunities which Agnes was also happy to do. Like many Grenadians you came across, the staff are warm and gracious.

We've passed by many times but this year we determined to visit this location. The site is sign-posted from the main road through the town of Sauteurs - turn left after cresting the hill by the post office. There is limited parking off the side street near a school.
A short walk through the church yard takes you to a cliff top over-looking a rocky shoreline. That's it! It's where a number of 18th Caribs chose to jump to their deaths rather than submit to the French. A modern memorial records the story. Another memorial at the churchyard gate records that the first person in the world to be identified as suffering from 'sickle-cell' disease was born in the town.
Behind the church, overlooking the churchyard, is a small refreshment counter - proceeds for the benefit of the church. Toilets are available too. The lady there is a fund of information about the ancient Caribs and she sells home-made ice-cream in aid of the church. Pay her a visit - the nut-meg flavoured ice-cream is a must!

There is nothing to see here ... The Carib Leapers were not heroes or victims ... There is nothing worth going to see here and nothing worth memorizing.

After walking through a cemetery with very old stones we came to the area where many people jumped to their deaths to avoid a foreign takeover. It has a nice little cross with a stone telling the story.

Interesting place to visit. Take a little tour with agnes, and enjoy some of her homemade nutmeg ice cream when you are done

It’s a quiet stop to learn a bit about the history of the island. The view of petite Anse is lovely.

We went to Carib's Leap (aka Sauteurs) on a family trip with our toddler. We visited the church which was built in 1804 and is still used. Once we were done with that we went around back to see the cemetery and the place where the Carib's jumped to their death. We were warmly greeted by a sister of the Church. She walked us through the property and gave us the history of the area. She was very kind, knowledgeable and great with our toddler. After we were done the tour, she offered us some homemade ice cream which was absolutely delicious - we tried the almond, which was made from almonds from a 100 year old almond tree on the property, and the nutmeg which was also very good. The tour is free however, they do ask for a donation. Parking is free and ice cream is $5EC per serving. They also offer light sandwiches and beverages.
