When it is so hot outside and the family needs a cool off, the river is the place to be. Cranbrook Flower Forest is stunning, cool and refreshing. The flora is lush and the property is large. Great for a family day picnic and swim.

Cranbrook has an air of profound neglect. Potentially gorgeous, it’s obvious that the estate has been allowed to gently rot. Reached by a rough unmade road which really requires a 4wd, we were the only visitors today. Crumbling and crumbled: wooden bridges, stairs and man made bits. Some beautiful trees & plants plus a sighting of a hummingbird. If infrastructure was repaired/ replaced investment made and an idea of what Cranbrook could offer, this delightful, peaceful, beautiful place would be an absolute gem.

We had the place entirely to ourselves- Inexplicable! The waterfall/ river was absolutely beautiful with not a tourist in sight and the gardens/ surrounding jungle were great to walk around; We saw loads of Dr. bird's feeding off the abundant ginger and it was just an extremely tranquil place to experience.

Highly recommended if you like making your own path!

This was my second visit to Cranbrook. It's an absolutely beautiful place. My second visit was a bit subdued as the rain has fallen on the previous, which made the river swollen and dirty. The grounds are not as beautiful as it once was as they seemed to have scaled down operations since the pandemic

The family that started this are friends of my family and though I have been on the property I have never done the tour. But here's my story. Several years ago I was visiting a hotel near where I lived on the other side of the island and there was a photographer from the States staying there. He had been hired by the Jamaica Tourist Board to travel around Jamaica and catalogue all the tourist attractions by picture. This guy had seen almost everything Jamaica had and I asked him which one had impressed him the most, without pausing he said Cranbrook Flower Forest. Time has passed and ownership has changed I believe, but I hear it is still a great place to visit.

Beautiful hidden Paradise, the entire compound is just quiet and relaxing . my only problem was the bad road to get there and there was no sign at the entrance so we got lost a few times

The previous reviewer, Alexander B, was spot-on. I brought a study abroad group to Cranbrook a few weeks ago, and everyone had a wonderful, enjoyable, and relaxing experience. Our group had been discussing the history that Jamaica's landscape tells, and the visit was a perfect complement to that conversation. The park is lovely and serene, and features a guided tour up to a river-head with a semi-dammed natural pool that you can cool down in after the hike up. The hike's path follows the river and, along the way, the guide pauses to identify different foliage, much of which is edible or medicinal. Cranbrook is under new management after Chukka apparently abandoned the site. I think that's for the best as it's far more peaceful than your typical Chukka adventure, and there are plenty of other places in Jamaica to zip-line and splash around. Before and after the tour, I chatted with Lily (the new manager) and appreciate the more "roots" and serene aesthetic that they seem to be going for, and their more intentional integration with the natural environment. They also have a catering menu featuring traditional Jamaican fare at what seem to be very reasonably prices. We didn't have time to sample food this time around, but I'll definitely be back and look forward to the experience. I definitely recommend a visit to Cranbrook.

I found this on a list of beautiful places to visit near Ocho Rios so today my brother, niece and I drove over for the afternoon. There aren't any signs out anywhere because they are apparently under new management and still in the process of getting everything up and running. They told us that for the time being they prefer guests to call ahead and make appointments so they can ensure everything is ready. That being said, it was an absolutely beautiful place and Ras Bobby, Lilly, and Biggie were all incredibly nice and welcoming.
Ignore previous reviews saying you can just wander around on your own. That may have been true in the past, but the trail is now not as obviously marked, and you are on private property. Also our guide Biggie was extremely knowledgeable, telling us the names of dozens of the beautiful and interesting plants along the path as well as interesting facts about them and uses for them, so we were happy to have him with us.
The entire hike/walk was lush and beautiful, and you can always hear the river. The path isn't too strenuous but I was happy to have some running shoes on and a bottle of water. Finally, the swimming hole at the end was nice and cold from the fresh water filtering down out of the surrounding rocks and it felt amazing to jump in and cool off after the warm, humid hike.
Call ahead if you would like to do this. I loved going and will absolutely go back next time I visit the island.
