I booked my ride via Facebook messenger far where my queries & messages were responded to quickly and in a friendly manner.
We arrived early at the stables and after a small communication error ( the staff were not expecting me ) a quick phone call and I was on my way.
I rode a beautiful bay horse ( can’t remember his name ) and my guide was Alpha. I researched this trip and I’m a horsey person and will only ride horses abroad who look well and are cared for properly. At sandy hooves the horses are loved and looked after well.
The ride itself was pleasant enough, the terrain is steep and rocky in places but the horses cope fine, some parts aren’t as pretty as others but the beaches make up for that. Beautiful views.
Alpha let me ride bareback in the sea however it was a little rushed. I would of liked longer. Loved the yard dogs who followed us for the whole ride and we were also joined by some free running young horses and a foal. Our horses were not at all bothered by this much to my surprise as they were running around us up close.
Would definitely return but maybe for the longer ride next time. Thank you again.

The tour overall was good. The tour guides were friendly and very helpful during the overall experience. I didn't like the aggressiveness of the workers when it came to asking for tips. We were advised that tipping wasn't necessary, but was done out of the kindness of your heart. My wife and I almost felt pressured into leaving a tip because we were constantly told that, " We don't work for the resort and get paid from what you guys give us". We were not approached by any other worker on any of the excursions in this manner in regards to a tip. Other than that, the experience was ok.

Hello Sean,
Unfortunately I'm unable to provide helpful feedback as you are reviewing our tour in error. We do not have any vendors along our tour and our guides never ask for tips. There is a small sign at reception that lets you know tips are accepted but this is the only mention of them. If you booked this tour through a resort they may have given you the wrong information to leave a review. We are independent and only receive bookings through our website or through Viator and their online partners.
Our tours are fully private with a guide/s allocated to each booking specifically. For a couple you would have been allocated one guide. The tour takes you to two separate beaches which are quiet and undeveloped. There are no vendors along the way or at the beaches. We are a small stables with three guides, Tevin, Jordan and Alpha, they are always in uniform which is bright blue with a white seahorse logo saying Sandy Hoofs St. Lucia.

My husband and I had a fantastic time in our advanced trail ride at Sandy hoofs! Truly it was by far the best way to see the island and truly get to appreciate the nature of that area. This was the best way experience and highlight of our trip. The three hour ride brought us to four different beaches that were all so beautiful and on the last beach they were a yearling and foals who came and hung out with us as we took our break. We really enjoyed getting to talk with the owner Josh and we were both so impressed with his love for horses in the horse community. If you’re thinking about doing any horseback riding, you must go to Sandy hoofs. Horses were very well behaved and in fantastic condition.

It’s hard to find words to describe just how perfect this experience was. While docked in St. Lucia on a recent cruise, my girlfriends and I decided last minute we wanted to go horseback riding. Despite not having reservations, Josh, the owner, accommodated us and within 90 minutes of calling him, we were on a private horseback ride. Jordan and Tevin were our tour guides who went above and beyond as we rode the most beautiful horses through the countryside and turquoise beaches. It was simply breathtaking. I’ve been cruising and visiting the Caribbean for over 20 years, and this by far was the best excursion I’ve experienced. Shout out to Tevin for climbing the coconut tree so we three island girls could have fresh coconut water! Josh, Jordan, and Tevin - thank you for creating an unforgettable memory!!! We hope to see you again soon.

I really enjoyed my trip up to the north of the island to partake in this activity. The horse trail isn’t for amateurs or the faint of heart - although I am an amateur and we did just fine. The route through the valleys is quite rocky and at some points steep. My daughter is just 7 and has a love of horses, she thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. In fact on a plus side I am certain such a challenge and overcoming it would have been a great confidence builder for her. I booked this activity mainly for her since my daughter loves horses and horse riding. The guides were really professional and one of them in particular was very passionate about the animals and knowledgeable on the horses temperaments. We were thrilled to have the dogs walk with us and to learn of their stories. I think it’s a great activity for animal lovers and those who enjoy a scenic route. The stop off at the beach was well welcomed, and we enjoyed some fresh coconut water. I would certainly recommend this activity, I would just caution that it isn’t the easiest horse ride and that should be taken into consideration for amateur, elderly or young riders.

This was an amazing experience. My guide was great and we chatted through the whole ride. Tyson went along and he was our protector. Seen the cattle huts and stop for a rest. Tyson was our protector, nor allowing any of them to get close to the horses or us.
The run on the beach and swim in the ocean was refreshing, before heading back to the stables.

I had my first ride ever and it was an amazing experience, Alpha (my tour guide) made it so easy and enjoyable for me to ride the horse.
Good to know this stable take care of their horses and treat them well; each horse is going for a ride only once per day as well as there is weight limit.

My partner and I had a wonderful time riding with Sandy Hoofs. My partner had ridden a couple of times but I was a complete beginner and they were very accommodating. Our guide, Jordan was really kind and knowledgeable. We rode down to the beach and then stopped for a swim and coconuts fresh from the tree! Then Jordan took the horses to cool off in the water and we were able to ride them in the ocean which was such a unique experience! An absolute must for anyone visiting the island. So special!

Is it possible to book your rides if coming in on a cruise ship??

You certainly can as that's exactly what we did.
We paid $50 for a taxi (drivers name was Troy, very friendly and polite) to take us from the cruise terminal to Rodney Beach (very busy but if you walk towards the right hand end there are a couple of trees for shelter just beyond where the sun beds finish). He then waited for 3 hrs before taking us to the stables for our ride. I think he went away this time but returned at the agreed time to collect and return us to the ship in plenty of time for sailing.
