Personalmente, es agradable ver nuevos edificios en Inglewood. Los residentes locales no estaban muy contentos con estos nuevos condominios, eran unos metros más altos de lo que planeaba inicialmente permitir. Pero la altura adicional permite una mejor venta minorista en el piso principal, que acaba de comenzar a mudarse. El ligero inconveniente es que los edificios más altos en el lado norte crean un poco de sombra, por lo que las calles son un poco más oscuras que antes. Compromisos, supongo. Sigue siendo un lugar fascinante para visitar, una visita obligada, de hecho!

Tuvimos algunas cosas que hacer en Inglewood y disfrutamos de nuestra reciente visita. Visitamos una gran librería, vimos una brillante exposición de arte y tuvimos un buen almuerzo, todo a solo 2 cuadras en el lado oeste de esta maravillosa comunidad. ¿Qué puedo decir? Si estás de gira por Calgary, no te pierdas Inglewood. Si eres local, ¿por qué no has estado allí recientemente? ¡Te lo estás perdiendo!

Construction on the west side of Inglewood's 9th Avenue coming to an end

Personally, it's nice to see new buildings go up in Inglewood. Local residents weren't terribly pleased with these new condos, they were a few metres higher than Planning initially allowed. But the extra height allows for better retail on the main floor, which has just started moving in. The slight downside is that the higher buildings on the north side do create a bit of shading, and so the streets are a bit darker than before. Trade-offs, I guess. Still a fascinating place to visit, a must-see, in fact!

Très beau quartier

C'est un des plus vieux quartier de Calgary. Les maisons y sont très jolies. C'est dans ce quartier que nous démarrons notre Calgary food tour avec une guide qui nous donne beaucoup d'informations concernant l'endroit. On y trouve des boutiques très originales tels que celles qui vend des couteaux japonais, des épices, etc. Il y a également de très bons restaurants. Un grand parking un peu à l'extérieur permet d'y mettre la voiture et le reste de la visite se fait à pieds. Quartier très agréable.

We had some things to do in Inglewood, and enjoyed our recent visit. We visited a great bookstore, saw a brilliant art exhibition, and had a nice lunch, all within just 2 blocks on the west side of this wonderful community. What can I say? If you're touring Calgary, don't miss Inglewood. If you're local, why haven't you been there recently - you're missing out!

I have yet to explore the entire city but coming from the GTA this city has more of that active, busy vibe that bigger cities have, but with a wonderful quaintness that makes you feel at home! Great little coffee shops, boutiques and restaurants I cannot wait to go back and try! I hear Without Papers has some of the best pizza in the city!

Inglewood has a special vibe to it, trendy shops and cafes, a variety of restaurants, and a mix of historic buildings. Great place to walk around in any season!

a good walk and interesting local shops

If you are in need of a good meal and interesting local shopping Inglewood is a good choice. The shops are eclectic and not tourist shops, but small niche businesses. There are good options for modest meals, including Spolumbo's. I find it much more interesting browsing than say the tourist shops of Banff. Takes a couple of hours if you are eating and only 3-4 blocks.

A place and area you could explore for several days!

Downtown Inglewood is renown for its many boutique shops, galleries, interesting eateries, bars and cafes. To take in all the offerings on 9th Avenue (Inglewood's "Main Street"), would be a 2 or 3 day extravaganza itself, and well worth every minute. But it so close to other fine attractions as well! The Calgary Zoo is just across the Bow River, Inglewood Bird Sanctuary is just at end of 9th Ave to the east, the Crossroads Market is not far, there are B&B's here, and the newly re-opened Harvie Passage only a few minute's drive. If you don't have the luxury of spending a week in Inglewood, go anyway! Be selective, you're sure to have a great time.

Fun neighbourhood

This neighbourhood is always on my list of places to stop at when in YYC. It just has a funky vibe, cool shops you won’t find elsewhere, and it’s all easily walkable.
Park at one end and walk down one side and back on the other. Lots of development seems to be happening, so I hope they manage to keep the character.

You haven't seen Calgary unless you've experienced the community of Inglewood

Inglewood is actually a slight bit older than downtown Calgary, in that speculators started building here in advance of the arrival of the railway, assuming the station would be built on the east side of the Elbow River. The Canadian Pacific Railway foiled that plan and built their station and yards on the west side, but Inglewood continued to be a part of Calgary regardless. Today it is beautifully linked to Calgary, being on the Elbow River Pathway and the Bow River Pathway, as well as having road links to it from all directions. For the last few years, its bridge to the south end of the Zoo was removed as it was being replaced by a new bridge, which is now open. Inglewood has it all, with wonderful green spaces along the Bow River to the north and east, oodles of independent cafes, restaurants and shops on 9th Avenue, as well as a couple of blocks of the centre of the community at 9 Av & 13 St SE, where there is a parking lot. The Folk Festival has its Festival Hall in the community, where it hosts concerts and events, and there are even a couple of live music venues. But even with all these fun things to do, it remains a real residential community with many beautiful homes.
