Beautiful venue and wines to match.
We did the showcase tasting.
Attentive and knowledgeable Chris took us through a great tasting and explained all the wines well. Great thing to do if you are wanting to know more about the wines and their evolution.

We had such a lovely time tasting the 5 wines ($10 or free if purchasing) at te mata. Both staff were super friendly despite being incredibly busy with a very full tasting room. All the wines we tried were lovely. The grounds are also stunning, and I met Mr Buck Snr and the 3 most beautiful highland cattle (Adeline, Ella and Margeaux) in the adjacent paddock

They lovely lady was so welcoming to me as a solo traveler, she went into detail of the history and the vines and the land in which the vines are planted. wine is great and I would recommend it to people driving by.

We stopped in for a tasting and had a wonderful experience the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. They had great information about the history of the winery and knowledge about the surrounding area. Much much much friendlier then craggy grange winery where you felt like a number!

We had a great cellar door experience and were engaged by the host.
He had good knowledge of the area and wines in general.
We got to taste a good range (a few over and above the 'normal') and brought a fair few as well (I struggle to pay $75 untasted).
Well worth a visit.

We enjoyed our tasting very much, with a good variety tasted and good wine knowledge imparted. The server was very nice and helpful. Adding the Gamay Noir to the tasting would of been an excellent.

Good wine tasting experience a bit more traditional in a wine tasting room. The lady who served us was knowledgeable. We were the only ones there for a period so had her undivided attention.

Warm and welcoming place. Enjoyed a lovely wine tasting session here and bought 3 bottles to take home.

As my wife hasn't visited this area for over 25 years we decided to check out a few vineyards in the Hawkes Bay area. We looked at Te Mata on the website and that was our first visit. What a wonderful, knowledge gathering experience. The young lady who was doing the tastings was an expert in getting across the basics of choosing a good wine and how your pallet picks up different flavours and tastes/aromas in different wines. She didn't try to up-sell us to wines we didn't want and let us choose what we liked. A great ambassador for the Te Mata estate Winery. If you do a tasting ($10.00) 5 different wines, and you purchase any wine the tasting becomes free! Give it a go, you might enjoy it!

Enjoyed the tasting - relaxed and informative host - both unpretentious and welcoming.
Had a good natter, learned more about the wines and the vineyard and left. Good experience for $10 each.
Easy parking, toilets on site. Just nice.
Would recommend.
