Great Day Trip

We didn’t have high expectations of this place but were very pleasantly surprised.
Scenic short walk up to the lighthouse with excellent views of the town, bay, lagoon and castle rock. Interesting rock formations.
There is also a walk up to castle rock, which we did not do. There’s plenty of coastline to walk along too.
It’s a bit out of the way (2-2.5 hours of driving from Palmy) but well worth it. Could easily spend a day relaxing here. Or even stay over night at the holiday park. Would visit again.

It was raining the day we went unfortunately but that wasn’t going to stop us. A good idea to check the tide chart as it comes in from both sides. Worth a visit for the views.

This is amazing place to visit with family or by yourself to take photo or to just wonder around, beautiful place to relax and swim in the beach during New Zealand summer. Must visit when in NZ

Waren dort zwischen den Feiertagen während der Schulferien. Überflüssig zu erwähnen, dass es sehr geschäftig war. Massenweise Autos am Strand, eins an das andere gereiht.

Wir sind erst zum Leuchtturm und dann den Track auf der anderen Seite hoch. Der Weg runter zum Strand war gesperrt, da einige Treppenstufen unterspült waren.

Würde immer wieder für einen Besuch hier her kommen. Aber definitiv mehr empfehlenswert außerhalb der Ferien.

An easy-ish walk up to the top on a good footpath makes it achievable for most people. The view from several seats up to the top is wonderful. The wind can be very blustery but adds to the whole experience.
Well worth the effort.
At night the lighthouse changes colours which is different!

This was a fantastic place to visit, the lighthouse was incredible and the views are immaculate. Highly recommend and it's worth the visit. Also the drive to the location from Masterton is one of the most scenics drives I've ever had.

a short walk up a paved path with some (limited) information boards along the way takes you to the lighthouse. In good weather you have excellent views 360.

Castlepoint is classic little Kiwi beachside settlement - lots of holiday homes, sandy beaches and waves. The lighthouse is, not unexpectedly, a prominent landmark. An easy walk up a well graded path takes you to the lighthouse for spectacular coastal views. There are public toilets and changing rooms along the beachfront. Also a store that does good coffee and has a reasonable range of food. About an hour’s drive from Masterton. Worth the drive.

Beautiful scenery and landscape. Light house on the tip of high rocky ground, surrounded by rocky formation with unique shapes, split the sea in a peninsula shape in beautiful combination. Easy track to go to the lighthouse platform through a combination of concrete ramp and wooden steps and then unimpeded views at the top to the surrounding ocean and hilly land behind. 65km to the nearest town, Masterton, so prepare your car fuel when visiting this place. There is a walkway to the neighboring lagoon, Delivery Cove, approx 1 hour 30 minutes loop walk for extra area to be explored, rich with history.
