Best view in the Lakes
nov. de 2021
Lovely circular walk from Ambleside, the ascent to Loughrigg Fell is strenuous but well worth it. We went on a sunny day in November and the views were simply stunning. The descent to Loughrigg Terrace was busy and it is clear from the bags of rocks airlifted to the summit that they intend doing some repairs to the main path from Loughrigg terrace in the winter. If you want to avoid the majority of people ascend by a different route, there are plenty to choose from. From the summit must be one of the best views in the Lakes.

Killer view

Always a place well worth the effort. A dry day at last today, doing the rounds of best places to photograph, this was a must.
Sadly, no jets today, they always make it dramatic.

Awful experience
sept. de 2021 • Amigos
Awful experience, unsafe/steep hills, litter everywhere and just too many people. I won’t be returning.

An experience I'm so pleased I did!
sept. de 2021
I'd spoken to my B&B host over breakfast about a good route from Ambleside, to Rydal water, the caves and Grasmere. He talked me through a walk, that wouldn't involve climbing Loughrigg itself.

Ha ... I got to the base of what looked like a stairway to heaven of stone steps at Grasmere and that was it ... I was on my way up!

It's a bit steep, involved a bit of rock clambering, and many a stop for a photo opportunities (aka catch your breath moments)! But the achievement when I got to the top and the views over Windermere were all worth it.

Now, my only cautionary advice, try and find a proper route down. I must have gone wrong somewhere as I ended up amongst ferns taller than me and on sheep tracks. I was starting to panic at one point until I followed a stone wall which eventually got me back to some form of civilisation.

So it was all rather unplanned, and I needed some serious cake when I got back into town, but an experience I'm so pleased I did!

Tough uphill climb to begin with but SO worth it
ago. de 2021
We had the most perfect weather and it was the most perfect morning to climb from Ambleside to the Fell. Easy to find and plenty of opportunities for great scenic photos. We sat for a while overlooking the tarm and felt so at peace and happy after such a turbulent pandemic. It really is such a beautiful place. Take a snack for some energy after the uphill walk to the top.

Stunning views for a modest climb
jul. de 2021
It's only 335m high which means the climb is not too taxing, although it is steep. Paths are pretty good. From the summit you have an outstanding 360 degree view on a clear day. It's one of the best viewpoints in the whole Lake District and would definitely recommend.

Climb up Loughrigg Fell
jul. de 2021
Accessed from a riverside path next to Rothay Park, I used a public footpath located just after the cattle grid (not signed to Loughrigg Fell!) Was a road and access road (gravelly & stony in parts), eventually leading into fields. Approx 40 min uphill walk to the top of the fell. Good views over surrounding area, including Windermere.

Great for views and dip in a lake
jun. de 2021 • Parejas
We went to Loughrigg Tarn as we saw it recommended in a guide to wild swimming. The tarn is just a few miles off Ambleside, and it is a short walk from a nearby campsite. Gorgeous lake, good quality water and great swimming. Beautiful!
