My husband and I visited Inigo Jones whilst on holiday and were so glad we did - from the friendly lady in the reception who explained about journeying round the self guided tour and it's different components (9 locations to travel round), to the craftsman shaping the slate in one of the workshops who came out to chat to us it was such an interesting experience. For the very fair entrance fee we thought it was more than worth the money - an audio tour of about an hour visiting various locations from a 10 minute video presentation at the beginning to fantastic exhibitions and workrooms and then the opportunity at the end to carve your own little piece of slate as a memento. The shop we browsed round at the end is full of handmade slate products very reasonably priced and there is also a cafe next door if you fancy a cuppa. A wonderful venue, we will certainly be visiting again when we holiday again in Wales!

We thoroughly enjoyed visiting - great to get hands on personalising our own slate - we went with our boys who are 9 and 10 and they really enjoyed. The self guided tour is so informative and the staff are so friendly and helpful - our dog enjoyed the tour too!

Visited the slate shop & the cafe. Lady in the shop was super lovely. Lots of wonderful gifts, garden, house numbers to purchase. Could've spent a fortune! Good quality & so nice to go home with some Welsh Slate. Will return to do the tour. Dogs welcome in all areas.

Spacious gift shop with ample parking. Extremely impressed with the wide selection of items available to purchase at reasonable prices.
Staff were very helpful and accommodating especially as our 2 young grandchildren wanted to pay half of the cost of their purchase each, on their individual payment cards, for a present for their parents.
The item was carefully wrapped and protected.

Went here with my Mum a couple of days ago in an off season sightseeing tour of Snowdonia. I’ve been several times before but it was a first time visit for my Mum.
We did the self guided tour which is well thought out and a fascinating way to spend an hour or two. The tour starts with a 10 minute film and then proceeds with a walk around the workshops and exhibitions using a personal audio guide with headphones (supplied) and which you pace yourself by pressing the corresponding numbered button on the audio device as you move around numbered exhibits.
There’s a good mix of exhibits illustrating the geology, production and application of slate and the evolution of the slate trade to keep pace with changing markets and world demand.
There’s both chaos and authenticity in the workshops. As someone interested in art and human endeavour I found it all fascinating. If however you’re someone who likes a sanitised idea of workplaces then you may be taken aback by the scale of what appears to be disorganisation. It’s clear that nothing here goes to waste and those with disabilities may find it tricky to move around some areas as piles of offcuts surround you at every turn.
I found an offcut that fascinated me and (having bought a number of prepared pieces on a previous visit) asked if I could buy it. A price was agreed thanks to staff who are more than accommodating of enquiries and ignorance! The shop staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more welcoming and my Mum also left with souvenirs of her visit from the shop.
There are toilets on the premises and a cafe and farm shop next door. Well worth a trip to visit and having now been a few times it’s clear that they’re continually adding to the wares on sale in the shop. Though I’d like to see a return of the key rings which state what region they were mined from - even if they’re a ruse I still like the idea of a memento of the places I’ve visited/valleys I’ve hiked in!

Loved this attraction, a proper, honest, working slate works where you can learn about the history, the process and see the men working the machines and try your hand at some lettering.
For £7 you get a film presentation, and audio tour around the site, you can ask the men working the slate questions, you hear funny tales of double decker busses and finally you get to take a chisel in hand and have a try at lettering for yourself.
The staff are so lovely, knowledgeable and happy to talk to you without pressuring you to buy, a lovely wee stop with a wonderful souvenir at the end.

Very interesting tour, commentary explains everything in a very interesting manner. The shop has a wide range of items which aren’t overpriced.

Interesting slate works on way into Caernarfon, well worth stopping off to admire the unusual slate shop (and works if you have time for the tour).
Toilets if you need them.
Shows the range of products that can be made from the locally quarried slate - not just roofing tiles!

We didn't do the tour, just went in to the shop to find something in particular. It's a very classy place without being prohibitively expensive. We got what we wanted and another couple of things as well.
On a day with really horrible weather, it was the best thing we did!

we were told that the experience had wheelchair access apart from one area. the wheelchair user in our group opted out as they did not want to miss out. however the rest of our group did do the tour. the recorded commentary was good. the tour takes about an hour. but be aware ALL THE PATHS are too narrow to accommodate a wheelchair making the tour inaccessible to wheelchair users. the shop and cafe do have wheelchair access. there is disabled parking. If the company understood what needed to change access could be provided.
