We had a great time when we visited today. The two members of staff were brilliant with our youngest daughter (age 9) who was feeling unsure and scared. Dan helped her the whole way round the easier course. We don’t think she would have made it round, if the staff hadn’t been so patient and encouraging with her. Our eldest daughter (age 11) loved the easier and harder course. The zip line was the highlight! Highly recommend for a couple of hours of fun,

My favourite part was the end zip wire it went so fast. Thank you to the man who helped me when I was a bit scared. It was good that he didn't do it for me he helped me do it so that I did it. Thank you to the man and all the other staff they were really nice.

My 9 and 12 year olds enjoyed this high-ropes course. The older one found it more challenging than similar ones she’d done before, but made it round independently. The younger one got stuck in a couple of places, but the staff were great at helping her and giving her the confidence to continue.
We spent just under 2 hours there and then got takeaway drinks from the Rothiemurcus farm shop next door.
A great activity with friendly, helpful staff.

So much fun! We are a family of 3. Our 10 year old really wanted to do those after being at landmarks tarzan trail. All the staff are very helpful and run through the safety features and dos and don't. You are checked that your harness is right twice before entering the first section.
There are 2 courses you start in tree creeper then if you are tall enough (over 1.3m) then if you feel confident enough you can progress to the buzzard. We did both courses definitely tested my brave face infront of my son ha!
He got stuck on the second zip line after not catching the net but was rescued by a lovely young man who helped over the last few obstacles after loosing his confidence. The last zip line is awesome.
We spent 2 hours overall so give yourself plenty of time.

My girlfriend and I (20 and 19 y/o) went today for what we were hoping would be a great experience. We have done plenty of activities like this such as go ape, so neither of us are particularly afraid of heights.
To start off we were told to put on the safety equipment ourselves and the staff member spent about 2 seconds looking at it before just deciding it “looks fine”. Normally when we have done this, the staff member tightens it beyond belief but at least you know it’s safe and gives you piece of mind. Not to mention that he actually left whilst we were putting the harnesses on to grab 2 people who were late. They could have waited as it’s really not worth risking safety in my opinion.
The “safety briefing” was certainly brief as it lasted what must have been less than a minute. Considering we were asked to arrive 10 minutes early, we expected it to be a little longer. We weren’t even told about what to expect at the end of the course where they have a zip line which requires a staff member to unclip you and put you on a different clip. We also weren’t told what to do if we had any issues whilst on the course so thankfully nobody had any problems whilst up there.
Moving onto the course, it was perfectly fine and would have been enjoyable if we didn’t have the thought in the back of our heads that we might not be strapped in properly making us feel physically ill. To add to it, 2 of the 3 staff members we seen were just sitting on their phones instead of watching the people that were on the course incase anybody hurt themselves or anybody was silly enough to mess with their harness (not that it would matter if they hadn’t put it on properly anyway).
Lastly, after we had finished the course and were waiting to leave, we were just handed our keys to our locker and the staff member walked away again, it’s a small thing but even a “goodbye, hope you had fun” would have be nice, doesn’t even have to be a certificate like you get at other places such as go ape.

We are regular visitors to Aviemore as we have a time share lodge in the family - and my son was looking forward to finally being old enough for the Tree Zone - which is currently, and always has been, advertised in the local area as being for ‘age 7-107’. This is quoted in ALL the Tree Zone brochures in the surrounding area AND on a large poster in the Rothimurchus Centre itself. He always has his birthday the week we are in Aviemore so we said we would book the Tree Zone for his birthday when he turned 7. When we got there we were told that he couldn’t do it as the age limit was actually 8, which is quoted on the website. When I said that the leaflets ALL OVER the Aviemore area say it is 7-107 I was quite rudely assured that they don’t have any leaflets in the area advertising the Tree Zone and that the 8 year age limit is written on the website, which is their only advertising, and it has been age 8 since they’ve worked there, which was a long time. At this point my son was extremely upset so we left (with a full refund). However I did return to the Rothimurchus Centre and point out the massive poster to the booking staff which says from age 7! Again, all they did was say the website says 8 so tough luck. Needless to say, extremely disappointed.

Hi Charlotte, many thanks for taking the time to give us your feedback, it's always good to hear views, good or bad.
We never like turning customers away but had to make a decision early in the COVID pandemic to increase the minimum age from 7 to 8, to help minimize the amount of close contact that our instructors had with customers. It was the wee ones that were most likely to need help and were therefore the highest risk to our staff. This change made a significant difference and we decided to keep that minimum age at 8.
The leaflets you saw must be old leaflets that have been left on racks somewhere or ended up in other places since pre-pandemic. No new leaflets have been distributed since then and we are unable to retrieve all the old ones. Our website is where the vast majority of bookings are placed and always has up-to-date info/ availability. As you said, the minimum age is shown on our website, and in order to book online customers are asked to confirm that everyone in their group is at least 8 years old before a booking can be accepted.
The posters you saw at Rothiemurchus were an oversight and have been removed. I can only apologise for any confusion caused by this.
The member of staff that said there were no leaflets, was unaware that old ones may still be in circulation. So what they said was what they understood to be the case. However, if this came across rudely, we do apologise for that. It isn't the norm for our staff to be like that.
We are sorry that you didn't get the experience that you'd hoped for on the day.
Yours sincerely
Calum.

The favourite part of my holiday. I shrieked and had a lot of nervous giggles and felt so proud of my middle aged self to have completed both sections. I was relieved that the safety harness was short and always attached to the wire - I was confident that if I fell off, I would easily be able to get back onto the course. My four 20+ year olds were trail blazers and had equally huge grins. The lower beginner course was great for checking our nerves and the higher course was really challenging. I had a full body work out! I had 100% confidence in the safety of the course and the professionalism and patience of all the staff.

My son loves this place. He has been many times and is know for being very fast. He did the little course in 4 mins and the bigger course in just over 11. This doesn’t mean it won’t take a while. The first time he went it took him a good deal longer. Expect to spend at least 90 mins here as we still took an hour as you have to wait some times and there is a safety briefing.

Coming next August. Should we get reservations in advance, or is it generally ok to just show up?
chris e
Aviemore, UK
Hi there,
If you have a specific time and date in mind, we definitely recommend booking as August is in the middle of the school holidays, we will have plenty of sessions available to cope with demand but can sell out a couple of days in advance
Cheers

Can you just go in and watch?
Hi, we do not charge for spectators. So if you are part of a group who are taking part for example then you are welcome to walk around and watch. It is all outdoors so wrap up well at this time of year.

How old has the oldest participant been and how fit do you have to be to do it?

Aviemore, UK
hi,
the oldest person to complete both courses is a Lady aged 79, however older folk have started!
it is a reasonably physical activity, more so if you are a wee bit nervous as it is tempting to hold on and use your arms much more than your legs, our instructors are always on hand to offer advice and help if necessary

Hi, Why do you have to be weighed with the harness on?
Chris E
Aviemore
Hi,
As part of our harness and speed runner issuing, we ask all guests to stand on the scale as our hieght gauge for your rope is calibrated to this.
Our maximum weight is 18st 12lbs as set by the course builders and we feel the fairest way to check this is for everyone to stand on the scales, it is far less awkward than singling someone out that may appear slightly larger to stand on the scale to be measured individually.
