We had a great time on this course - learnt all the techniques of making very professional looking sushi. The facilities were amazing and Dominic our chef was a great teacher. He made sure we understood what to do and then had lots of opportunity to experiment. Tracy was also very helpful arranging the course. Would thoroughly recommend and am looking at the next course!

Went to the first children's cookery class at the Dean Clough venue. Excellent activity, fun while being educational and challenging too.

The morning was focused on children aged 8 to 12 and the chef, Dominic was superb with them. He was thoroughly prepared and had developed 4 menus for the children to follow that were broken down into manageable tasks yet clearly linked to each other. Dominic taught them many skills and gave the children confidence in basic knife skills, operating a hot oven and following a recipe.
My grandson loved it and was absorbed in the activities from beginning to end. Dominic was the icing on the cake (keeping with the food theme). He was excellent at demonstrating how to cook each part of the menu and was patient, attentive and very entertaining with his anecdotes. I think the accompanying adults, including me, learned just as much as the children. The facilities are indeed Masterchef standard and the assistant worked tirelessly in the background cleaning up and setting out equipment whilst the next demonstration was taking place.
Bookings are easy to make and the receptionist follows you through the pre and post booking process constantly checking that you are happy and know what's going on. I have enjoyed it so much I have booked on to two more courses. I can't wait!

If you're looking for a place to learn professional cookery and you're in the North of England then Ashburton Cookery School Halifax is perfect. Its centrally located with easy access from the motorway. The school itself is in Dean Clough Mills - an amazing 19th century mill complex. Chef tutors are fantastic and the kitchen is well designed with loads of high spec equipment. The four week professional cookery course is an amazing opportunity to immerse yourself in all things culinary. I learnt so much and loved every minute of it - thanks guys.

I have just completed my 4 week CTH professional culinary skills award at Ashburton Halifax and I am depressed, it's like the the end of my honeymoon but this time there's no presents to look forward to.(ok I suppose a wealth of skills acquired, a professional qualification, fantastic memories and the course itself was a bit of a gift to myself but still!!)
I cannot recommend this course and the school more highly. I feel privileged to have been taught by 2 of the most professional, experienced, kind and funny chefs/people I have ever met. The skills I have learned I will carry with me for ever (and hopefully into a professional career) The school itself is a wonder, set in the historic dean clough mill (worth a visit in its own right) it has a state of the art kitchen with fantastic equipment (I think we all bought the knives and chopping boards!) I felt truly spoilt turning up to "work" here everyday. If you are thinking about a career in cookery this is the place to come (any doubts give Tracey a call she is very warm and friendly and was happy to answer all my questions when I was making the decision) I have absolutely no regrets I just wish I could do it all over again.

Had a fabulous day on their Italian one day course learning the basics of essential Italian cooking ie pizza pasta pesto plus lots more , but right from my initial contact with the school the staff were extremely helpful and informative especially Laura and Tracy, you are made to feel very welcome with a coffee on first arrival and everyone is introduced to each other so that you feel like you are are on a course with friends even if you go on your own! Domonic our chef for the day was extremely helpful and gave us lots of tips along with great cooking demonstrations and we cooked our lunch a wonderful risotto with focaccia bread followed by tiramisu they even provided the wine to go with it! Then in the afternoon we cooked food we could take home to share with our family's I had a wonderful day and can't wait to go again!!

Great people, great course, was a 1/2 day knife skills course. from proving I'd been cutting onions the wrong way for years, through the classic french cuts, boning chicken portions and filleting fish. All this and great recipes too. I can't wait for my next visit
