A really informative and factual tour that tied in perfectly with our trip up to The Globe. Thank you Trevor for accommodating a private tour to fit in with our timings! :)

Hi Alice - many thanks for your review, and it was an absolute pleasure to welcome you both - the gratitude is all mine! As I said at the end of your tour, people taking the step of coming on tours since we were able to reopen in May 2021 is something we simply cannot express our appreciation for enough after an exceptionally tough period - and even more so when they are kind enough to leave good reviews. We really hope to welcome you on another tour soon, and it makes all the difficulties and all the uncertainty worth it to know that you enjoyed the tour - we aim to tell the story of Shakespeare in London in a context which other tours leave out, that of his colleagues and competitors and also of the growth of Elizabethan theatre and the areas of London within which it took place - we have had numerous guests join us either side of a Globe performance and it is always heartening to hear that we can add something extra. Until the next time, many thanks!

The tour was fantastic. I now look at London in a whole new light. The tour guide knew his stuff, was able to answer most of my questions and knew how to keep the tour interesting.

Thanks Venita - really glad you enjoyed (both tours!) and reviews are so precious at the moment so it really means a lot when people take the time to post them. Only most of your questions? We will tell him to up his game!

Two PhD candidates with many questions were very satisfied by Trevor's answers and their approach to history of the City of London. The trip felt like a travel in time, his engaging way of telling stories felt like a performance, and trevor even showed us a well hidden oasis in The City. I very much recommend this tour!

Many thanks Nika - you kept the PhDs quiet but I could certainly tell you both knew your stuff and so I’m very pleased to hear that we passed the test! It was great to meet you both and would be lovely to welcome you on another tour in the future,
especially as you seem to have enjoyed the exact parts of the tours on which we pride ourselves.
Thanks again - both for taking the step of coming on a tour after a long and difficult period and also for the kind review, all of which are appreciated more than ever right now. See you again soon hopefully!

Brilliant historical tour around London, learnt a lot without feeling like I was back stuck in a history lesson at school. Energetic tour guide with amazing knowledge; would highly recommend!

Many thanks for another great review - it has been really gratifying to see the response to reopening tours and to be able to share some of London’s fascinating stories and wonderful places once again. It would be great to see you on a tour again, and a special thanks for having faith in us as we emerge from a very difficult period for the hospitality/ tourism industry. Onwards and upwards!

Trevor makes history fun. He is very knowledgeable and also have found some interesting little known facts on the subject.

Many thanks Priti - that’s certainly what we aim to do, and certainly agree that it’s the lesser known stories and the hidden spots that really help the subjects come alive - thanks for the kind words and hopefully we will see you on another tour soon!

Fabulous tour around the square mile. As a Londoner I discovered many new places that Trevor introduced us to. Trevor was extremely engaging and had many anecdotes to share with us… ghosts, geese and a murder to name a few. Highly recommended.

Many thanks for your great review - it was lovely to meet you and we look forward to potentially welcoming you on another tour in the future. We do enjoy showing people those hidden parts of London - and it’s always extra rewarding when we manage to find other native Londoners who can still learn something new too. Thanks and see you soon hopefully!

Yesterday I went on both the 350 Years of History and Shakespeare's London walking tours. Both were excellent, fascinating, enjoyable and informative. Trevor is a very knowledgeable and engaging guide. He shared so much interesting history, little known facts and really brought to life the past of the areas we walked around. I learned so many things and saw places I didn't know about even though I know the areas we were walking around reasonably well. I can thoroughly recommend a tour with Trevor for both visitors to London and those who already know London but want to learn more.

Many thanks Liz - it’s great to hear you enjoyed and even more so to take the time to post a review, all of which are appreciated now more than ever as we aim to show that the tours are still running and can be safely enjoyed. It would be lovely to meet you again on another tour - either the one tour you currently haven’t attended, or perhaps a new one…watch this space!

Last week my teenage son and I went on 2 London history walking tours organised by Chronicles Tours. We booked the Shakespeare's London Tour and the Historic City of London tour. I had worked in the City for many years so was fairly sure there would be no surprises. How wrong was I!
We had the same tour guide for both tours - Trevor - who actually owns the Tour Company. From the start his passion for history and detail is clear. He uses a few illustrated prompts during each tour - a carefully curated and researched selection of illustrations which provide extra depth to the tour.
We started south of the river with the Shakespeare Tour and wove our way through hidden gardens & coaching inns and the bustling Borough Market (lovely to see after months of lockdown), stopping at historic sites and then the theatre sites before moving North to yet more hidden spaces. We stopped often enough for Trevor to disclose more and more gems about Shakespeare's life and the start and growth of the theatres in London. There was enough proper history included to please a history buff like myself, but also enough life stories to interest my teenager who is, at best, lukewarm about history. But he is studying Shakespeare at school so the real-life backdrop will be beneficial. We finished the tour having seen the site of Shakespeare's property investment in London. I had worked around the corner for years and had no idea!!
We all had a break before meeting up later in the day for the Historic City of London tour. Trevor took us all over the East of the City. He showed us the best view of the river I have ever seen both up and down stream - I won't give away his secret - take the tour! I have seen some magnificent views of the river - worked in many of the buildings overlooking it and walked London Bridge daily for years but I had never been to this spot. Trevor continued to share stories including the 1st railway murder and the lucky goose of Leadenhall Market.
Trevor was a diligent guide - many in the tour parties did not have English as a first language but he made sure that they could follow the tour fully. He was also diligent in making sure that he knew what was happening with late-comers.That was appreciated by those who had been delayed by works on the tube. He was also concerned to make sure that my teenager would be OK with gory tales - really thoughtful. We were lucky in that normally the tours include more pub stops - not quite so ideal with under-18's - but under Covid re-opening rules this was not possible.
I really loved doing these walking tours and recommend Trevor, and Chronicles Tours, fully. I can't wait to see what will be offered next.

Many, many thanks for this review - there have been some really lovely and encouraging responses since reopening and we appreciate every one but this might just be the most encouraging and heartwarming yet!
And yes you are correct that the current tours were previously pub tours, which of course meant that we could not welcome under 18s as guests. This whole period however is one big learning experience and if we can identify better ways of doing things as a result then that will be a positive to come out of the whole situation - and the possibility of keeping some slots open as non pub tours is definitely out there, and if it allows us to entertain people such as your son in the long term then it will be a very good thing.
Many thanks both of you for coming along - for two tours in a day, no less! - and I/we are so pleased to hear you both enjoyed and that we succeeded in offering something for everyone in terms of demographics, interests etc. It would be wonderful to see one or both of you again.

Fantastic afternoon getting to grips with some of London's bloody history. Trevor was an enthusiastic and immensely knowledgeable host with a knack of creating an enjoyable and inclusive group experience amongst strangers. Anyone wanting to delve into the weird and wonderful history of this fantastic city we live in should not hesitate to give this a go. I'll certainly be returning.
