We were spending the weekend in Richmond and took a stroll by the river. We saw the Ham Polo Club on the map and decided to head in that direction. Once we were close, to our delight, we saw a polo match was in play. We spoke with the young ladies on the gate and were advised we could pay GBP 40 for a day membership pass. This would allow us to go to the members club and enjoy lunch. We were so thrilled. We headed over, payed our entry fee and then sipped champagne and watched polo all afternoon. Fabulous. The most impressive thing about this club are the club leaders and members. They were so welcoming and made us feel so welcome. Their warmth and conversations made our day. There was a delicious menu to order from. We arrived around 12pm and left around 6pm. We are now huge fans and will return. The riders were so talented, so close and so friendly. We will return.

Stumbled on a Sunday afternoon of polo matches and had a delightful time watching the people and watching the matches. Perfect for casual picnicking - although many people do it up right with full hampers and champagne. Lots to see, and a good announcer to keep you up to speed on what was going on, especially for someone not familiar with the sport.

For just £5 per person you can watch approx. 5 hours of polo by some top class players (including Princes).
Get there around midday to find a decent spot, and take a picnic with you.

Used to love the relaxed atmosphere and dining . Now super formal, minimalist menu with no frills, nil starter, side orders or choice of desert offered ,nil bread, olives etc

The match was cancelled and they don’t inform you of this by email or text. I went on a Friday night so there was still a party- which was 99% women. So if you’re looking for men, good food or atmosphere- I can’t recommend it. I will never be back!

Ham Polo Club captures the best of British traditional Summer life.
Exciting polo games, mixed audience, not exclusive so you can feel at ease. Good location, easy access, just walk along the river from Richmond.

I always wanted to learn to play polo, and was thrilled to have the opportunity at Ham Polo Club. I had instruction on stick and ball handling, some basic game rules, and practice with hitting the balls on and off the horse. It was so much fun!
Ham Polo club states that anyone-- rider or non-rider-- can learn to play polo. But it's really fun if you are a fairly competent rider. Polo matches occur on Sundays starting in May for people who would enjoying watching.
Highly recommended for equestrian types with a sense of adventure. A friend warned that polo is addicting-- I can agree with that!

Visited Ham Polo Club on Saturday with my Fiancé. It was my first time there and my first ever time at a Polo event. Have to say that it was such a great experience and a lot of fun. Easy parking and a very well run and organised event. Great day out for all ages. Recommend taking a picnic to enjoy the polo in a very relaxed way...

What a wonderful place to sit and have a picnic whilst watching the polo. Beautiful horses and a good team sport to watch with the family.
We took a Picnic and went as a family the children enjoyed watching the game.
Public toilet not great and you can only use the club house ones if your a member.

For only £6, got to sit on the grass enjoying a full afternoon-3 matches- of polo. At the half break of the first match, we even got to meet the Argentine star of one of the club's and his gorgeous horse...what fun!

Just been to the polo very upset that I was unable to do an order in your shop for goods. And join the club. Was told as not a member .. I was refused entry. I came a couple of wks ago spoke to the chairman (Lovely chap) but the lady on the gates needs to show some decorum. Very dismisive. The chair said I could order shirts etc so ehat do I do Now!! Or join as she's said the lady on the gate to the pavilion were not part of the club/members etc . Please advise
