During my recent trip to Armenia, I with some friends this structure, which opened in 2019 and is now the largest Yazidi temple in the world.
It's located in the province of Armavir; but the specific locality is called Aknalich.
The Yazidis, ethnically similar to the Kurds but distinct from them for the specific religion they profess, have long been present in Armenia. This specificity is evident both in the temple and in the statues and symbols that dot the very wide enclosure.
As is well known, the Yazidis were an ethnic-religious reality of the Near East, with very ancient origins, little known for a long time, until their massacre carried out by Daesh in the Iraqi city of Sinjar and in the surrounding district in August 2014. made known to international public opinion (a UNO document dated 19 March 2015 used the term "genocide" for these tragic events).
This common misfortune strengthened the already existing links of the Yazidis with the Armenians, eventually leading to the construction of this temple.
Which - together with the sacred enclosure in which it's included - appears evocative for its simplicity combined with grandeur, and should not be overlooked by the traveler passing through this area.

If going to or returning from Armavir or Sardarabat, stop by Aknalij village and visit the astoundingly beautiful Yezidi Mother Temple being built right next to the existing older Ziarat Temple. It is all white and hard to miss from the horizon. We witnessed two Yazidi weddings and were warmly welcomed. There are also statues there dedicated to Armenians who were friends and defenders of the Yazidi people, such as Komitas Vartabet and General Antranik. This was an unexpected highlight of our travels from Armavir back to Yerevan.

If you're interested in the culture of Armenian Yazidis, you should make this small detour and visit the contruction site of this temple. Roughly 40,000 Yazidis live in Armenia today, spread in villages in the southern, central and eastern parts of the country. Their language is Kurdish, the religion derives from the ancient Zoroastrians.
If there, have a look at the very interesting Yazidi cemetery next to the temple. The graves are decorated with beautiful pictures of the deceased.

Езидский храм Зиарат - это современная частная постройка, храм был открыт в 2012 году, строился он на деньги одного езида (езиды - это национальность в Ираке, я так поняла). При постройке этого храма был использован мрамор,что вносит ноты торжественности и основательности. В перспективе планируется построить еще несколько сооружений, чтобы был целый комплекс. Пока что храм небольшой, рассчитан человек на 20.
