Entertaining Art and a quiet café.
abr. de 2021
My wife and I visited the gallery, while we waited for our room to be available at the nearby Langham Hotel. We started by having some cakes, tea and coffee at the café. Attending anywhere on a Friday afternoon, it is always pot luck for choosing cakes and we missed the last 2 slices of the apple strudel by seconds. My wife chose the Lemon iced, Polenta cake with cream and I had the Carrot cake with cream. Both tasted nice. I drank a regular Soy Latte and my wife had a pot of Earl Grey Tea with milk. We enjoyed the café and the cakes and my wife established a good rapport with the staff when we were invited back to try lunch on our next visit. The gallery exhibition this month shows the Tree of Life artworks and it very entertaining. The gallery website says that the "Tree of Life is an exhibition by Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australian artists who are concerned for the environment and natural world, and understand the deep spiritual and physical associations that connect all forms of life." Entrance for seniors is $10 and we found viewing the exhibition and the contents of shop, took about 1 hour, not including our time at the café.. Check out the gallery online to find out what is showing, a visit is highly recommended.

Great food and service from the Trust Cafe
oct. de 2020
Archibald Salon des Refuge is on and interesting as usual.

Had a wonderful lunch at the Trust Cafe. Margaret was in good form keeping everyone in order. We have a group that has been going to the Trust Cafe for lunch for years and we love Margaret. She is a treasure and does a wonderful job. A great trooper. Of course, if you misbehave Margaret will let you know.

Enjoyed the beef salad and cherry strudel. Good white wine.

Please remember COVID and turn up at the correct time for cafe bookings. It is really hard for staff and they lose out if people turn up an hour and a quarter late and other visitors miss out..

Today we had a wonderful visit to the gallery to see the Portia Geach, followed by a fabulous lunch at the cafe. The service was friendly and the food delicious!

Avoid the cafe !
mar. de 2020
Gallery is wonderful - but the cafe is run by the most bizarrely rude woman i've ever seen in the 'hospitality' sector - makes Basil Fawlty look like a gracious host. Barked at us for daring to think we might sit at a table, shouted at us for not knowing that the cafe was closing now, and then angrily accused us - a group of three older ladies- of lying when we said we'd just walked into the gallery and hadn't seen her sign. Such a waste of an absolutely beautiful site for a cafe.

Gallery 5 Stars, Cafe 0 Stars!
feb. de 2020 • Amigos
Wonderful gallery BUT !!!!!!! the cafe has the rudest most appalling woman called Margaret who seems to be in charge. She seems cranky ALL the time. Polite is not in her vocabulary, try to be helpful or pleasant to her and all you get is verbal abuse in front of all the other customers in the place! Will I go back to the gallery? YES!!! Will I go back to the cafe? NO!!! This the third time she has been rude and verbally abusive to me, the food isn’t even that great either!

Great place of historic interest.
nov. de 2019
Wonderful to see such a historic building with a magnificent setting - on the approach to the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Most interesting to see the showing of Annie Wyatt's daughter's artworks in the smaller gallery.
Eclectic gathering of paintings, art works and ceramics on display in the major gallery.

Cafe is also a welcoming place.

Most interesting interlude.
Walked from Wynyard.

Generous portions

The SH Ervin Gallery cafe is a real find. Parking on-site is free. Surrounded by the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Barangaroo and with views across the harbour. The Coffee was average but the cakes are homemade and the serving was generous.

A New Find in Sydney
jul. de 2019 • Parejas
I’m not sure why it has taken us so long to discover this gallery. At this visit we were able to view the paintings that didn’t make the cut for the Archibald exhibition at the NSW Gallery. I really liked the idea behind the Salon de Refuse show. As with the finalists there are some paintings that leave you wondering and others that are just wonderful and you wonder why the Archibald judges passed them over. My husband and I really enjoyed our visit and were sorry not to be able to make any of the talks that they had advertised. We also managed to pick up a birthday present for our grand daughter in the shop so that was a bonus. We had coffee there afterwards but found some of the staff just a little snooty. But we will return!

over priced
abr. de 2019 • Parejas
i visited this art gallery today. It is a small gallery with mixed exhibitions.I have visited this gallery over a number of years but today when I visited I was very surprised at the $10 entry price-and this was a seniors discount.
i believe that the prices here need to be reviewed to make sure patrons continue visiting this gallery.
