They did a lot of work on the rooftop, balcony, and big stairs but it doesn't quite work. Despite prices that are more normal on Crown St, the pub has a bit of a down-at-heel atmosphere and remarkably oppressive security staff, even early in the evening.

The rooftop restaurant opens from midday to 3pm for lunch and they run daily specials for $12. The rump steak was so tender and melted in our mouth. The staff are friendly and there is plenty of room to spread out.

I came here for lunch today after seeing their new $12 lunch menu. This hotel is literally opposite Sydney’s Central Station & 2 minutes from my office. Today I came in for a very late lunch so most of the photos shows empty areas but this hotel is normally packed to capacity on Thursday, Friday’s and weekends well into the late evening. It is definitely one of the most popular hotels in the area with regular menu specials and happy hour drinks specials.
The daily lunch menu is varied, I opted for a Malaysian Laksa today. Other items include Cajun Chicken breast; Grain fed rump steak; Thai green curry, and fish & chips to name a few. Service is quick and reasonably friendly. Great venue especially for large group bookings. The ground floor is a normal public bar with poker machines. All my photos are of the top two floors, the main dining areas.

Spent the afternoon and evening here yesterday catching up with old friends. Great location, a couple of minutes walk to Central Station. Upstairs is fantastic. Excellent range of beers and very friendly and efficient staff. The balcony and rooftop are great. A TAB and bar on the ground floor. Food from the bistro was good. Overall we all had a very enjoyable day. Will be heading back here again for sure!

Despite the friendly service, the kitchen has no intention to serve food after 8.40pm even though the website says it closes at 9pm. My friends and I have been denied our food order because they were already cleaning the kitchen! I've worked in retail and hospitality before and never seen people stop serving food almost half an hour before the closing time. Someone tell the manager to get the kitchen staff a watch!

Like coming here as an alternative to the Exhibition hotel. Lots of after work drinks crowds here. I like the rooftop area in summer. Decent food too.

From the outside this place to be honest looks like a dump. but head upstairs, there is a great bar and food area with a balcony, with a nice perch over the people below. Lots of beers to choose from. Then you head upstairs to the rooftop which is awesome. really well done with lots of space and places to sit, perfect spot for a beer in this hidden gem rooftop bar! Sydney needs more of these.
One of the best things baout this pub is the location, right next to Central station so its perfect. Also close to SCG and Allianz stadium so good for drinks before or after a game!
Will def be back.

A slightly above average hotel in Surry Hills. Good location, ok room with good staffs (amenities need some improvement). Nice and welcoming reception too.
