Wow. Just wrapped up a 12 day tour with To y and Snail Adventure Tours of the far north of Vietnam. This was a team of true professionals, with a well informed and thoughtful route using small local roads when possible, and avoiding the many construction projects around the region. The food was excellent, eating at local restaurants and delicious “roadside picnics” prepared by the team each day with fresh local ingredients. How good was the food? Good enough that despite cycling thousands of vertical meters each day I may have managed to gain some weight! Support was excellent, with fresh fruit, drinks, and coffee along the way and van transfer through construction areas.
I would 100% recommend Tony and Snail for a great tour and experience.

Tony led our group of 7 on a great bike tour through the north of Vietnam. All the cycling anyone could want, and no hassles!
Leaving from Hanoi, we made our way to the very north, and then made our way back south. Throughout, we cycled through varied and fabulous terrain - simply sublime.
The tour was fully supported, which meant no worries about finding mid-morning coffee or lunch. We could count on Tony and his crew to make the daily necessities a matter of certainty, including a comfortable van ride to our next night's accommodation. Lunches were hearty and delicious, with a wide range of dishes to suit all of our group's different dietary demands.
The roads in northern Vietnam are sometimes rough, sometimes smooth. The gradients and elevation gains can be challenging. However, none of the riding demanded special skills or special equipment, and in any event Tony's bike rentals were fit for purpose. I think everyone on the tour took a turn riding the van instead of the bike, and it was very welcome to have that support available.
Experiencing this beautiful country by bike is a lovely way to go, and linking up with Tony's Snail Adventure Tours was one of the best parts of this adventure.

We had a fantastic 29 day cycling tour in Northern Vietnam. Tony put together a terrific trip, meeting us at the border with Laos and taking us north through the hills and mountains, following the border with China around to Halong Bay. The ‘loop ride’ days where we left the road to cycle through small villages on single track were great. The accommodation was excellent, and the roadside lunches that he and the driver, Mr. Cuong, put together were great. It was all so good that we are considering coming back this October so we can see the rice in colour! We look forward to returning to Vietnam and would certainly recommend Tony at Snail Adventures. Tony, thanks again for a great trip!

Tony runs an excellent bicycle tour. My husband and I are Hanoi residents and we did a 5 day ride in Cao Bang with Tony. Normally, we do self guided bike tours, but in Vietnam, we felt it was wiser to go with a tour and a guide. Due to Covid, there were only 2 of us on this trip.
Tony knows what he is doing and he is a true professional. He knows all of the small village roads and took us through some jaw dropping scenery. His bikes are high quality (Trek and Cannondale) and are incredibly well maintained. We were able to get off of the beaten path and ride to and through regions that aren’t too used to western tourists. Tony includes a support van and takes safety seriously.
He booked hotels that were clean and comfortable and selected delicious dinner spots that served local cuisine. Lunches were cooked by Tony and Mr. Tang (the driver) and were excellent.
You can’t beat the value for the price. We are looking forward to another bicycle trip with Tony. I highly recommend Snail Adventures.

Big thank you to Tony for helping to organize our bicycling tour in Ha Giang. Transportation to and from Ha Giang was perfect. Comfortable, on time, well prepared, so our group and bicycles reached Ha Giang and Hanoi in perfect condition. Great communication with Tony along the way. Tony was helpful and shared valuable advice about region and conditions on the road.

A truly unique and amazing experience. 6 days cycling through the Far North Vietnam. Seemingly endless mountains. Breath taking scenery. Away from the tourists, Challenging climbs, awesome descents. But the best bit was the food! Tony our guide and our driver Mr Tang prepared delicious, fresh, locally sourced food that changed everyday. Also keeping us hydrated along the way with cold water and drinks.

We have just completed a 7 day cycling/hiking trip in northern Vietnam with the awesome Tony and support person Mr Thanh. Our group of social bikers were treated to a wide variety of experiences- from some challenging mountain tracks passing tea plantations to little village paths through rice paddies. Always with friendly Vietnamese waving us on or showing us how they harvest the tea / embroider their clothes / grow their vegetables. And each break stop had Mr Thanh presenting us with local fruit to taste or drink - so needed in the heat. And always authentic food (often cooked by Tony and team) to go with it. Our accommodation was spot on as well ranging from magnificent eco lodge to friendly homestays. And the bikes were great!!
So much more to mention but enough to say we would highly recommend Tony to anyone wanting to do cycling in Vietnam.

An old friend of mine and I just finished a Vietnam experience of a lifetime. Fully catered and guided by experienced cycling guide Tony. He knows all the back roads, the people and hidden villages to create a customised tour that suited our needs. From the first email contact till the last good bye dinner at his house he has pampered and surprised us and exceeded our wildest expectations every day.
He cycled with us and had a van follow us with our luggage, cooking supplies and spare bikes. Every day presented a different scenery and cycling experience. My mate brought his own bike while I used one of Tony's (from a large choice of Trek mountain and hybrid bikes). During a one off issue with my chain he turned into a skilled bike mechanic who could replace the chain and gears within 10 mins by the side of the road.
Every day after 1-2 hrs of riding we stopped and got treated to fresh fruit, Vietnamese coffee and tea as well as cockies. He was carefully managing our energy and motivation cycling through the breathtaking north Vietnamese mountain ranges.
Around lunchtime he would call the van to a nice spot where he would then set op his pop up kitchen and whip up a freshly cooked Vietnamese feast (every day!). After coffees we would continue the ride and if the roads were quiet and safe and picturesque enough we would cycle straight into the village or little town to our hotel - often 5star - which would be a great contrast to earthy fun mud cycling we had done throughout the day. By the way we would change bikes from hybrid to mountain bike if the road ahead was too "broken".
After a hot shower and fresh clothes we would go out for dinner with Tony and our driver to experience the local flavours amongst the locals. We actually did NOT meet any other tourists until the last day which was an overnight boat cruise in Halong Bay. I am sure mine was the captains cabin.
Tony has stopped at nothing to impress us with outstanding 5star service. We cycled altogether 1285km in 15 days and I must admit that I did not read or comprehend that from the itinerary beforehand. I am a casual bike rider. Not a serious lycra guy at all! But with Tony not only as our tour guide, chef and bike mechanic but also as personal trainer it was not a big deal. Fitness levels went through the roof by the end of the tour. I think Tony was a bit annoyed when I went ahead too far ahead of the leader :-)
As far as I heard he started his tour guide business in the nineties and has accumulated experience like no other company. He customises tours for every time and money budget, for any number of friends or family and specific as to what you want to see and experience - on a bike, on foot or motorbike or car. I could not recommend him more highly! He also has a sense of humour. But most importantly we got a sense that we could trust him with our lives in every respect. He also stopped us from buying the wrong fruit and veg that would definitely have made us sick. We had no stomach issues at all in15 days and not one cramp with all that strenuous cycling which I am still surprised about.

We were a group of 12 cyclists from Australia. Tony our guide was amazing - he cooked our lunches everyday (as well as riding with us) - they were better then any restaurant meal. The scenery was spectacular, the mountains were big and rides were challenging and I can't wait to go back and do it again.

It has been a month since I have returned from a trip that included seven (7) days of cycling in northern Vietnam. There hasn't been a day since I have returned that I don't think about my experience there. Being able to travel by bike gives you a chance to expose all of your senses, in a very personal way, to daily life as it is. Our guide Tony and driver/support staff Mr. Thanh were the right people to be ambassadors for the region The route from Ba Be Lake to Ha Giang was beautiful and challenging. Tony was very knowledgeable about the region, the minority tribes and culture and history. Each day Tony and Mr.Thanh would prepare a tasty and fortifying breakfast and lunch. At night, we would go to a out to experience local food. Wonderful! Our hotel selections were always modern and clean. Everything about the trip was truly memorable.

This is amazing cycling trip for us whilst we cycle from Ba be Lake up to Ha Giang rocky mountain province.
