We went for the blow your own glass experience where you are meant to leave with the item that was made. On delivery my daughters glass which she made was broken by kitengela themselves!!! However they’ve refused to replace the item stating we pay for the experience and not the item. This is not true because in the write up it clearly states that we get to go home with the item we made. In addition they made me wait for 3 days as they “investigate” only to be told they won’t replace experience items. We are extremely dissatisfied with the customer service. So be aware, you may be paying a lot of money and won’t have any thing to show for it.

I showed up at the Village Market branch of Kitengela glass 5 mins before closing time - I was desperate, was flying out that same night to a wedding and hadn’t gotten a gift yet. Martha Sarafina was patient, kind and beyond helpful. She helped me make choices and then packed them all up for me. So so patient and sweet. She kept the store open an extra 45 mins. Thank you Martha! Thank you Kitengela Glass - I’m a huge fan. And my friends getting married in Ireland will be delighted with their gorgeous gifts.

We stayed for 3 nights in their AirBnb, The Pool House, Anselm and team are wonderful hosts and the place is AMAZING!
We enjoyed the cafe many times, the Dragon Pool, Glass Blowing, crossing the suspension bridge and enjoyed just being there. An absolute MUST when in the area.
Bring your credit card, you won't be able to leave without buying everything in the shop!

We were visiting from Guatemala and had space restrictions. We loved everything in the store and Sarafina not
only helped us find what we needed but offered to help us with the delivery which she did. She followed up with us until she made sure we got our products in good shape. Definitely the best we found at such a gorgeous store was Sarafina!!!

We just showed up without an appointment and get a complete tour of the facility. It was explain to us how everything was made from recycled glass. They talked about the entire process of how long it took to heat the glass and melt it, make it into different objects and then the cooling process. We also got to watch them make beads. We got to watch both glassblowing rooms in action, one side making drinking glasses and the other making vases. They spent plenty of time with us and answered all our questions. Very nice people, very pretty facility and they were very accommodating.

The trip to Kitengela took us out of Nairobi for about half an hour on a rough track but the journey was worth it. We parked the car and walked a short while to the “glass bridge” that leads across a deep ravine to the glass blowing site. You have to call to cross the bridge and there is a small charge per person. The site is beautiful with lots of opportunities to buy from various artists that work there or from the site shop. We really enjoyed watching the glass blowers at work….they were very skilled. There was also a lovely, reasonably priced cafe for lunch or a snack. To add to our experience we saw monkeys playing and baboons at only a short distance away. All in all a lovely day out!!!

Really nice day out
Yes it is a bit of a drive - but what is not in Kenya.
Always done it on a Sunday morning - only half-day with the artisans in the studio. Really good to see them handle and work with the glass, and always friendly with a smile. Really artful craft and there is the opportunity to do it yourself - not done it yet but on the list.
Really nice shop - you can get similar items from their outlets at Langata Link or Village Market but more variety and more specials if you are there on the right day.
Always had a coffee, dawa and a pizza for lunch before we head back to Nairobi.
Will bring our visitors here for a morning out.

The place is awesome in terms of the glass art projects. The food at the Cafe, not at all! My son had severe diarrhea immediately after eating at the cafe. The biscotti was awful! The staff need to warn customers if any items contain allergens such as peanuts.

Hiya - so sorry to hear you had a bad experience at our cafe. We have had a meeting about the mug (Winnie, who served you, says that contentious mug has a mark which looks like it might be dirty, but is indeed a manufacturer flaw - we have since removed it from the collection - and about the allergens - and appreciate the advice on that. Apparently your son ate chips and the biscotti - so perhaps he had a tummy bug. We pride ourselves on our cleanliness so would love to know how to improve.

Our guide hadn't visited before and we got quite lost on the way to Kitengela Hot Glass. After 3 long hours (should have only been 1.5hrs) in the car we finally made it and it didn't disappoint. We arrived just before lunch so caught a few minutes of the craftspeople doing their work. During their lunch break we had an opportunity to mooch around the site and look at all the brilliant glass pieces and sculptures that decorated the garden area. We made a few purchases in the shop (I'm happy to report that they were well wrapped and packed up and made it through our safari trip, a train ride to Mombasa, a stay in Mombasa, a flight from Mombasa to Nairobi and back home to London!) and then ordered the veggie samosas and a coffee from the cafe. The samosas were awesome! So fresh and gently spiced. After lunch we then watch the artisan craftspeople continue with their hot work. The way they all moved around each other in such a hot space with all the moulten glass was like watching a well choreographed dance. The skill that goes into their work is fascinating, we were so impressed.
