If You're in Wan Chai......
ene. de 2021
An interesting pocket of Wan Chai, which has come up in the world in recent years. Gentrification has spawned a number of smart cafes, bars and restaurants in this small cluster of streets that make up the Star St Precinct. Whilst the street markets, trams and historic temples feel more like colourful, old-world Wan Chai and are probably of more interest to tourists, it is good to know that you can find a couple of decent cafes and good restaurants in the Starstreet area when you need a break.
‘Francis’ on St Francis St is a standout but they don’t take bookings so you may well have to queue, especially on a weekday when it does a very reasonably priced Middle Eastern set lunch (see separate review).
Oolaa Petite on Star St and Elephant Grounds on Wing Fung St are both good for coffee. They are both popular spots that have other branches in Central.
Moon St is only tiny and feels hidden away but it has a number of great places, including Pho and an Italian corner bar, Ciacoe that serves complimentary aperitivo between 5-8pm.

Trendy neighbourhood dining area in Wanchai
oct. de 2020
The Starstreet Precinct is a trendy area in Wanchai just north of Queen's Road East between St. Francis Street and Wing Fung Street. This area was revitalised a decade ago, welcoming in a host of restaurants and retail shops. Most have moved on and/or been replaced since then. At the moment there is a pretty good group of places to eat in the area for those looking for quieter, vibrant neighbourhood sort of feel to it in Wanchai.

Slims Bar & Grill and Oolaa are still around since the early days. Now you'll also find other good restaurants like Morty's (NYC deli), Elephant Grounds, Brass Spoon, Black Sheep's La Garcon as well as Artemis & Apollo. Pirata's Pizza Project, Pici and soon to be opening TMK. There is also a gem of of an Israeli restaurant called Francis, one of the very best restaurants to have opened up in HK over the past few years.

A handful of other restaurants, coffee shops are scattered through the precinct along with some lifestyle and trendy clothing shops, a PURE gym and a Lamborghini dealer. There is also a nice cobble-stone surfaced public garden space with some large trees down the large staircase between the upper section of the precinct and Queen's Road East. This makes for a nice spot to enjoy light bites or a coffee before or after a visit to the Star Street Precinct. You'll also find a bit of street art on Francis Street as well these days.

Quirky - Trendy - Entertaining

An are at the back of Pacific Place 3/ Queens Road East which was an almost forgotten local neighbourhood at one stage.
But since 5 years ago, it has blossomed with some small boutiques and tailors but mostly with some good restaurants and bars. Try and of Giando, Pici, Madam Ching, Ciaco, a French restaurant and a two other bars. All worth a visit.
We went to Pici for the Italain food and totally enjoyed it; yet again.
Google Star Street and see what there is - and go for it !!
Tucked away but great food choices and not manic with people like other parts of HK>

Great food and drink choices.

Three of my favourite places to eat are in this area: Morty’s, Butcher’s Club and (best of all) Petit Saigon so I’m a huge fan of Starstreet. Djibouti Bar is a cool place to drink too. Compared to the rest of Wan Chai, it’s a relaxed, friendly place to hang out and we go there quite often.

It is an extension of office area from the traditional Central Business District. It takes around 10 minutes' walking from Admiralty Station. The commercial buildings are new but the residential buildings nearby are old

Fascinating area
mar. de 2017
This is the "real" HK area - market stalls and small butcher, fish and food shops servicing the locals. We wandered the streets and lanes, trying to absorb all we could see, and eventually came across a precinct decked out with hundreds of hanging lanterns and including a Le Pain Quotidien eatery where we had an eclair and drink.
