Amazing evening. Anton and Antonia where friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. Beautiful setting, great to learn about the history of the winery, especially the Zinfandel grape and the wines themselves were delicious. I want to say a personal thank you to Antonia for providing us with delicious vegan alternatives. Really memorable experience and the highlight of our week in split.

Anton and Tony are unbelievable tour guides. Anton gave us a wonderful tour of his winery with ample amounts of cheese, bread and wine to enjoy while listening to the family history of the winery. Tony takes wonderful care of you transporting you from your stay in Split to the winery while informing you of the Split and it’s history. They both have wonderful personalities and charm to warm your heart. Our tour with Anton and Tony made our trip and made us feel like we made family friends in Split. We hope to welcome them to our homes in the USA. So much love for you both.

I booked a tour in advance and our group met by the statue of Nin. Nice drive to vineyards and a beautiful place to sit and look out at the view and try the first wine with cheese and bread. Our host, the vinter, was an interesting fellow I dubed the Croatian Kevin Costner. Told us the vineyard history and some stories. Then we got back into the vans and went to his house/winery. Wine tasting and then to the 'tasting room' for more wine and a plate of bread, cheese and proscutto. Lovely evening and enjoyed the wine very much but it did go on a bit long. Could shave an hour off this tour without feeling I missed anything. Still recommend highly.

We did the Putalj wine tour four years ago during a tour of Croatia and it was easily our favourite activity. When we booked another holiday to Split we knew this was the first thing we had to arrange, and were hoping that it was every bit as good as we remembered.

We were pleased to see that Tony who picked us up all those years ago is still transporting guests from the centre of Split to the winery, and was just as enthusiastic and welcoming as last time.

At the vineyard we were greeted by Anton, the owner of Putalj who was just as passionate and engaging as we remembered. It really is a beautiful setting to sit and enjoy some rosé and cheese whilst learning about the history of the winery and Split’s involvement in the Zinfandel grape variety. He also gives you plenty of time to walk around the vineyard and get photos before the sun sets.

After an hour or two we were driven down to Anton’s house where we got to sample some red wine straight from the barrel, before moving inside to enjoy plenty of meats, cheeses, bread and his beautiful homemade olive oil. You’re also able to choose a bottle of your favourite from the previously sampled wines to enjoy with your food.

Of course the main reason to come on a wine tour is to taste good wine which you get here (the white label red is my favourite), but you get so much more with this tour. Anton is incredibly generous and watching the sun set over his vineyard is priceless. Thank you Anton and Tony, we’ll be back for a third time next time we’re in Split.

We loved the winery tour! It was very well organised. We were picked up by the driver and were driven to the vineyard. Anton, the owner was waiting for us. He is a great host and explained us all about his winery and wines in general. We later went to the production area where we tried a few more different varieties of wines (unlimited) with a platter of bread & cheese. The tour lasted for 4 hours and we had a great time :)

As a group of 8 we were picked up from the Gregory of Non statue and transferred to the vineyard. We were welcomed by Anton who provided us with a history of the wine making region and of his family business. Here we tasted the fabulous rose he creates and could wander the vineyard. Next we were transferred to the winery and learnt more about the process of creating wine. Here we tasted 2 reds straight from the barrel. Finally the evening was finished with more wine of our choice, local meats, cheese, olive oil and bread. I cannot recommend this tour enough. It was so personal, relaxed and excellent value for money. Thank you Anton!

Best wine experience ever! We have head wine tours on 4 continents. This was the most special. There were 4 of us. The owner met us up on the hill in the vineyard. The family has been making wine for over 1,000 years! Then he took us to the winery for barrel tasting with cheese.

Even though I had read some great reviews, I was still blown away by the evening!
It’s a stunning vineyard with a really interesting history. To start you are invited to enjoy a bottle of rose between two with some cheese and bread while soaking in the view. You are then allowed to explore the vineyard and even try the grapes before going down to the winery and trying more wine. The best part of the evening was getting to go to the tasting room and getting another glass (bottle) of your fave wine from the evening with a lovely selection of cheese and prosciutto.

Incredible hosts, so friendly and unbelievably generous with the wine! My boyfriend had no idea what to expect but hasn’t stopped talking about it since. Couldn’t recommend this tour enough - worth every penny.

We were picked up in Split as a group of 6 and taken up into the hill to the vinyards. Our driver was a very friendly, knowledgable and courteous guy who obviously loves his job. The 20 minutes passed easily and we learned a lot about the local area and history of the region.

Once at the vinyards, we were greeted by Anton, the owner of Putalj Winery. In an amazing location with the orange and pink- hued sunset to the west of where we sat, we first tried the delicious rose wine offered by our host. As the sun dipped into the far side of the vines, we were told about the 1000 year history of Anton’s family business, insights into the history of the Zinfandel grape provenance, and a lot about the local history of the seven castles area.

We took advantage of the gorgeous dusk sky to grab some photos amongst the vines before heading off to the production facility at Anton’s house.

After a very short drive, we arrived at the beautiful location where the magic happens. We were shown where the harvest is changed from grapes into the delicious wine which we were given. The Plavac Mali was every bit as good as the Zinfandel (better in my humble opinion!) and was drawn from the barrels by Anton which was a very nice touch.

Finally we were led to a very intimate and wonderfully decorated tasting room where we sampled Anton’s extra virgin olive oil along with Dalmatian hams, local cheeses and bread. We also continued to sample the superb Putalj wines!! While we sat - eating, drinking & merry, Anton told a bit more about his family history (without spoiling anything he is a VERY interesting guy - you’ll see!)

At the end of the evening, we were driven back to our villa, full & content.

It’s very easy to see why this tour is so highly ranked. It’s a must do for anyone coming to Split who enjoys a glass of vino.
