Saturday Stroll
oct. de 2020 • Amigos
For R20 entrance we had a lovely trek around Tygerberg Nature Reserve. Lots of flowers this time of the year.
Parts fairly steep but otherwise easy going. Lovely views of table mountain (if it’s not cloudy).
Lots of people around so very safe.
We did Ukhetshe, Watsonia and Tortoise (to avoid steep climb at end) and total distance was 6km.

Sunday morning Hike
oct. de 2020 • Amigos
We are a small ladies group that hike on a Sunday morning.
Today after a long hiatus due to lockdown, we did our first easy walk on the Tygerberg nature reserve.
There are many options of trails to choose from. Most merging of trails end at lookout points and seating for picnic.
There are a lot of Fauna and flora, loads of photo opportunities.
From the top, you have a 360 view and on a clear day can see Table Mountain.

Some trails are wheelchair or pram friendly.

A small entrance fee allows you access to the park.

The entrance has bins for disposal of waste.

Took a few of the various hiking trails, all amazing, different views from the different vantage points. Went as far as taking out a family card so that I can have access to the park 365 days without paying..Picnic area gives you an opportunity to sit and chillax while admiring the amazing views..

We took a slow walk up to the top of the mountain and then ambled back down. Views are fantastic and the picnic areas are well maintained. Highly recommended.

Good picnic and hiking area

On our way from the airport on 23 June 2019, we decided to stop off at the Tygerberg Nature Reserve. We paid R16 per adult as an entrance fee. My mother received a pensioners discount as she is over 60. There is a steep uphill from the entrance. We walked on one of the trails for 45 min, then stopped at a bench under a tree to have lunch und and enjoy the views. The view of table mountain and the ocean is breathtaking. Note that you need to bring a hat, sunglasses, a jacket ( in winter) and water with you. There are lots of clean ablution facilities in the reserve. I would definitely recommend it for families as it is a nice place to have a picnic and to exercise as well.

Safe family hiking and picnic

Was out first but definitely not our last visit. Started with the tortoise trial and finished with the Golden Mole. Took us about 1h:45min to complete this 5km route. Entry was R16 per adult and R8 for kids. No animals allowed.

We saw plenty of striped mice. Warning the Golden Mole trial is a bit slippery in the morning dew.

Take your hat and sunblock. A walking stick is optional but did help a bit for the slippery areas.

In the Wild
mar. de 2019
My girlfriend and I decided to visit the Tygerberg Nature Reserve a few days away to escape the hustle bustle of the city. What a surprise this place is! After paying the R16 entrance fee, we were immediately ''in the wild''. The place has stunning views of basically the entire Cape Peninsula and it's just a quick and easy way to ''get away'' from the city, even for just an hour or so. Go check it out!

This reserve is well worth a visit, easy to reach from Cape Town.once you leave the N1 to Jip de Jager,it is well signposted by Cape Nature.A small entrance fee is payable and then you are off ,up the hill to the picnic spot under the pines with an amazing view and a choice of several rambles to look for plants and wildlife.Birds are in abundance and we even saw a tortoise cross our path.
The kids will love the scramble over treestumps and logs.
