Being from Stellenbosch, but currently living in Oman, my husband and I needed the perfect place to celebrate our son’s 21st birthday.
Muratie was exactly that - the atmosphere in the cellar was warm and cozy, the food and wine an absolute feast. Of course there was the Ben Prins Port! Taking photos with Table mountain in the background - we couldn’t ask for better…
Lorenzo, Riaan and the friendly staff made us feel welcome with wonderful service and genuine care.
We had a great time at a great place!
Thank you Lorenzo and team for giving us a day which we will savour for the rest of our lives.

Can we please give this a six!! This old wine estate was beautiful, even in the rain. The gardens in front were informally welcoming and the tasting rooms felt like a wonderful step back in time.
We visited Muratie as the second stop on our Winelands Tour with Jarat, driven by our guide, Sorita. We were able to chose the wineries that we visited and this one was recommended by a friend.
The server, Sneaky (!), was excellent and we loved the tasting we had here. Surprisingly, we both really liked the Lady Alice MCC. We don’t generally like any “champagne” like wines but this was delicious.
We would definitely like to return some day and spend at least a half day here.

We celebrated a close friend’s kitchen tea yesterday at Muratie.
The food, wine and service could not have been better!
The restaurant manager, Lorenzo Joshua and his team were so professional and nothing was too much for him and his team. Lorenzo went out of his way to make our vision come true.
The chef, Riaan’s food was amazing!
I would highly recommend Muratie.

Das Weingut hat eine gute Lage und aufgrund des Alters sehr viel Charme. Wir haben ein Weintasting gemacht und die überwiegend sehr leckeren Weine wurden gut und ausführlich erklärt. Wir hatten eine sehr nette Zeit. Leider ist es Tradition, dass die Weingüter nur bis nachmittags geöffnet haben, Muratie gehört mit Öffnungszeiten bis 17 Uhr noch zu den länger geöffneten Häusern. Wir haben insgesamt nur 3-4 Weingüter besichtigt, so dass ich sicherlich keine großen Vergleiche ziehen kann, aber Muratie ist definitiv einen Besuch wert und auch die Weine haben es verdient probiert zu werden :-)

Love this place. I've visited four times and always had a good time. It is very unlike other wine farms with its own style (even the cobwebs seem historic!).
The history is fascinating and palpable. Yet it is a very personal and personable - welcoming, down to earth and great service.
The food is always very good - locally sourced ingredients with a Cape flavour or two.
The wine outstanding, especially when it is brought to life with a wine tasting.
I like the old buildings and trees , as well as the fact it isn't too large and run by the family who own it. The location is pretty special too - in the heart of the countryside.

Highly recommended if you want to visit an authentic wine estate. A unique manor house with the original farmhouse from 1685, even the original mistress hideaway. The well documented heritage story and the philosophy behind their approach makes it different than all of the commercial wine tasting experiences we had before in Stellenbosch. Above all, Muratie has excellent wines and we already contacted their agent in Belgium for an order when we return. @LawrenceWhite what we missed is a bit of a tour of the winemaking process, even a short one. It could be a disappointing experience for the first time wine tasting tourist not to see at least a part of the production process or cellars like in other wine estates. The staff presenting the wines need a bit more training and guidance. It was sometimes difficult to understand the story and the narrative from your colleague who was presenting us the wines, she admitted she was new. What was making us feel uncomfortable was that she kept me asking for a tip from the bill when I bought the 17 bottles of wine. I'm not familiar with tipping if we buy something from a shop. I finally gave her 100 ZAR tip from my credit card, she cancelled it and asked for cash so I had to refuse this. If not it remains a pleasant experience, but there is probably more potential in the place.

I am very glad you enjoyed our delicious wines and historical estate. Thank you for your feed back I am currently planning to implement a cellar tour into our offering to add some more education value to our offering. I apologize profusely for my staff member soliciting tips. This has always been absolutely unacceptable for me and I have reprimanded the staff member in question. Thanks again for your visit and please pop in when you are next in the Cape.

We visited as 2 families to show the teens the old farm buildings and for the adults to taste wines. Our server was a story teller of note, who knew his history and wine. He was able to weave it all together over a few hours in between delicious food and numerous wine tastings. The teens spent the afternoon exploring and had a great time. All in all a good day!!

Everything about our tasting and lunch was perfect. The relaxed vibe (compared with the uptight self-importance of some vineyards) was delightful. Reuben and Portia were absolute stars — delightful hosts, highly efficient, well-informed and very personable. The wines represented the best and most interesting selection we’ve enjoyed on any vineyard visit anywhere. Lunch was super, and just right for early afternoon on a hot day. And the view is gorgeous. Thank you!

I love Murati the place.and wines, when I visit annually from the UK we always visit. However on this occasion I was disgusted by the treatment of staff by the so called "destination manager" berating staff in front of customers fo allegedly giving a couple too much wine in a glass. His exact words to the staff member "do you owe them money?" Quizacle look from customers and the staff member and again from the booming self important obnoxious destination manager "then why are you pouring that much into their glasses?"
The staff just looked so unhappy but
appeared used to his abuse, I am only sorry I did not intervene at the time but feel so strongly about it that this needs to be addressed it was a disgrace and leaves me wondering how this man treats staff when customers are not present.
