Nice to see that people are still enjoying looking for the crystals and fossils. My father built a cabin in the summer home area in the 1950's. Spent summers searching the washes and hillsides. Nice silica replaced brachiopods and corals in addition to the crystals. Great childhood memories.

We love going to Diamond Point. Our first time we didn't really know what we were doing. We dug around one spot with no luck, then moved to another spot in the dry riverbed and found several crystals and fossils.
Some of our best finds did not involve digging, so if you are here when digging is not permitted, you can still find things. Brush aside the pine needles along the dry riverbed, and keep your eyes open.
This is maybe our tenth trip here and my six year old found the largest crystal we've found here, though it isn't nearly as large as some of the photos of other people's finds.
It does take patience and perseverance. If you don't like hanging in the forest, you may not get as much out of the experience as we do.
We did find a sketchy fort decorated with elk legs. Weird and not cool.

This experience should not be for big business these crystals are very special you don’t find them they find you !!! There is one diamond for every 10,000 Herkimer diamonds which makes these very rare and special!!! also If you dig and find crystals even if you don’t find crystals bury the dirt back don’t dig into tree roots dig around them be mindful not greedy!!!🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼

We went a bit off the beaten trail and spent about 4 hours on "the hunt". No digging, but a lot of deer poop out there among the finds! Don't gaze 10 feet in front of you, look down, look for washed out areas with loose rocks. Between my wife and myself probably left with about a pound of these crystals. Some small some bigger, but the backwoods are beautiful and we had blast.

I visited dymond point three times now with amazing results. If you want good size crystals it's a good 2 mile hike over the otherside of the mountain. The pictures are from my last trip! Well have fun b safe!!

Fun couple of hours hunting for crystals with our 9 y.o. Found a few. Would go back in a heartbeat. It had rained a few days before which probably helped.

While Diamond pt is a gorgeous place located in the forest east of Payson Arizona, do not except to find large crystals...or any crystals your first trip. Ask someone to show you what to look for and where to look for them. It does take an experienced eye. You are in the forest, so watch for wild life too!

We had a great time finding geodes, crystals and petrified wood. We spent a couple of hours finding the geodes and a couple of hours surface collecting at diamond pt. Do yourself a favor and spend the night in Payson because it’s a long drive out.

O.K.: As veterans of Herkimer diamond country in New York and Mount Ida in Arkansas, maybe we're a little spoiled when it comes to quartz crystals, but this place was a bust. Our trip leader wasn't aware that there are only certain times of the year when you can use digging tools, and we were just outside of that period. We found virtually nothing.
