Disappointed

Pointless...the kids didn't learn anything
feb. de 2020
It was a real waste of £300. My son has previously had ski lessons in Meribel so we decided to put him and his brother into lessons with lunch at Seefeld. It was really disappointing and after a day and a half, we didn't go back as it was a waste of time. I was so disappointed. I tried to talk to the Manager about it and he didn't seem to know what was going on? The ski instructors don't give individual guidance the kids just follow the instructors down the mountain in a line, and repeat! A waste of time for everyone.

1 star as I can't give less.
mar. de 2019 • Amigos
We were in a 4 people group and applied for a begginers group lesson (€50 per person).
The staff at the store gave no attention to us at all. Just took the payment and did not gave us any further information so we could decide what would be best for us and exactly what the class would include.
Bernie was our instructor. He couldn't care less.
The class started 15min late. The first thing he said to us was "skiing is not fun". I really didn't understand the reason for such an unpleaseant comment to start a class with people in their holidays.
During "2 hours" of class, the instructor told us a few things to do, just by doing it himself once and telling us to repeat the movements. No technique, no tips, no corrections. Just telling we were doing it wrong at the few times he was even looking at us. When one of us asked for a tip or how he did something, the answer was default: "years of experience".
15 to 10 minutes before our class time, he came to us and just said that our level was (obviously) lower than other group that he was paying attention to,as they've had previous classes. He advised that we should pay for private lessons so he would not continue to teach us at that time.
As absurd as it sounds, it was a relief for us that he was leaving. His bad mood and boring/unhelpful class was becoming the worst part of the day.

Good lesson, unnecessary bureaucracy and instructor made phone calls during the private lesson
feb. de 2019 • Parejas
Private cross country ski lesson. Booked and paid on the telephone. Did not see the point of having to go the office to collect a paper token to give to the instructor the next day. The instructor knew our names and was waiting for us, and still asked us for the token. Instructor was fine and helpful, though she made at least 2 mobile telephones during our 90 minutes lesson, which I do not consider polite or appropriate.

Disappointed
ene. de 2019 • Familia
I have some problems with how this ski school is run and none of them have anything to do with the actual teaching, which I felt was fairly effective. Both of my sons enjoyed it and did well.

The lessons, which are already quite expensive, do not include the price of any passes (even for the kinder slope used by beginners during lessons). Passes are required in order to take the lessons. This was not made clear on the ski school website or in an email from the ski school when we registered for the lessons, so it was difficult to know the true price of the lessons. We and a number of other families we encountered had to take time at the start of the lessons to buy these passes — an unexpected added expense of money and time that delayed the start of instruction each day.

Finally, on the last day of the lessons, my younger son’s instructor handed out medals and certificates that assigned a “ranking” to each child. My younger son (age 5), who had learned quickly in three days of lessons, was excited to be taking up a new sport, and was building confidence after three days on skis, was ranked 5th out of 6 children by his instructor. He was crestfallen and in tears for the rest of the afternoon and again the next morning on our trip home. (My older son’s instructor didn’t offer medals or ranking certificates at the end of the final lesson, which was just fine.) I’m all for building resilience in kids and don’t feel like every participant needs a trophy, but this ranking, particularly of the younger kids, was so unnecessary. My son is only five years old — not training for the Olympics. We had paid a significant price for the lessons. It tarnished the whole experience, unfortunately.

Fantastic ski lessons for children and adults
dic. de 2018 • Familia
This is our second year bringing our son, now 5 years old, to Seefeld for a Christmas holiday. He’s been to the ski school both times and we cannot praise the staff highly enough. From his ski instructors, Sabine and Halley, to the children’s coordinators, Helena and Hilde, we felt their kind and generous concern for our son on both occasions. We watched him progress well and appreciated the opportunity to have him socialize with other children over a hot lunch each day he was there. We will certainly be coming back to Seefeld and give the School our highest recommendation for children.

In addition, we took private lessons for Alpine (downhill) and Cross Country skiing. Our instructors were amazing!

WORST ski school ever!
feb. de 2018 • Familia
This is the WORST ski school ever!!! Do not waste your time and money with this company. If I could give them zero stars, I would. My kids and I and all of the other kids and parents waited over an hour outside standing in -10 Celsius while ONE teacher assessed and sorted at least 75 kids into groups. Most disorganized operation ever. My six year old was put in a group with 19 kids and my 10 year old was with 15 kids! The company doesn’t provide ski school vests so your kid could easily be lost. I had to instruct my kids to stay with their teachers at all times. When I asked if they’d get more teachers the next day, they said they didn’t know. They said they were having a hard time hiring enough teachers and that more people than expected were taking private lessons and the Dutch schools were on holiday. After years of running a ski school, how do you assess your staffing needs so poorly? Why would you let people register for private lessons if you don’t have enough teachers to teach ski school? The Dutch school holiday schedule is available at least one year in advance. Why would you not plan for this and act like it was some sort of surprise? No wonder they can’t find teachers. They are a terribly run company.

What a wasted day! My kids said they were bored and learned nothing new. We thought they would ski at Rosshutte, but they kept the kids at the little Birkenlift and said they’d be there again the next day. The front desk staff is incredibly rude and unhelpful. They only gave me a partial refund for my kids’ remaining 4 days of ski school because they charged me the one day ski school price which was €69 per kid instead of the prorated amount for one day of a five day lesson which was €35. Then they said I should be happy that I was getting any refund and claimed that no one else was complaining when clearly other reviews show that other people also had the same terrible experience with Skischool Seefeld as we had, and other parents I spoke with were also very unhappy. These guys prey on unsuspecting parents who don’t have prior experience with ski school, but I do and I’ve never experienced such a terrible, disorganized, rude ski school. It seems that all they care about is making as much money as possible by overfilling their ski school classes and providing as many private lessons as possible instead. So inconsiderate and selfish considering many people are only able to ski once a year.

If you want to register your kids for ski school in Seefeld, register with Sport Aktiv instead. They are organized and well run and polite, and my kids had a blast and improved their skiing immensely there last year. The only reason we tried Skischool Seefeld this year was because we thought the kids would ski Rosshutte. What a mistake to try them. We’ve now registered for Sport Aktiv for our remaining four days so hopefully we can salvage the rest of our holiday.

I think all of these 5 star reviews are bogus and were written by employees and friends of the company.
