This place is amazing, especially if you don't like the hustle and bustle of larger wineries in Napa and Sonoma. I am a regular here, and usually stop by once or twice a week after a hike to pick up some wine and/or have a tasting. I've come solo and with friends, on weekdays and weekends. The staff are all incredibly nice and informative, and the wine is amazing. There is no hangover either. I have never had a bad experience here. I'm not really sure what the reviewer below mine was talking about. But, if your dog is loud and making a scene, then perhaps you should remove it. I myself am not a fan of dogs and would have been highly upset as a regular customer had a loud dog been inside of the winery barking. I go to this winery in part because it is so peaceful, and away from the hustle and bustle of Sonoma/Napa. I would highly recommend visiting here!

Way to ruin a visit. My husband and I decided to take my parents for a tasting last weekend during their first to the Bay, and we will NEVER go back.
When we arrived there was only one person pouring which meant we had to wait longer than expected to be served. We weren’t in a rush so no big deal. Once we did get started we enjoyed the experience and so we decided to sit down to finish our glasses.
As we were getting ready to leave, we noticed a small area where you could purchase gifts and other things. My parents and I decided to browse while my husband stayed with our dog at the table.
We got into line to pay and my dog started to whine with separation anxiety. By then a second person had finally come in to help manage the growing line of people. While we were waiting to pay my dog barked twice for my attention. I get that it can affect the ambiance to have loud noises, but this place is outside and not 5 minutes earlier there were children running around screaming so we didn’t think anything of a bark.
Regardless, what happened next was so entirely rude that it was completely unacceptable. After the second bark the woman behind the counter looks at my husband and says “excuse me, can you remove your dog. We only allow well behaved dogs here and on our property.” The judgement was so over the top that we put everything we had planned to purchase back and just closed our original tab so we could get out of there.
It completely impacted that experience my parents had during their visit, and it was just unnecessary. We’ve taken our dog to both Napa and Sonoma with no issues. If you are going to allow animals on property at all, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to accept some level of noise might come with it. I would have understood this so much more if the dog had been aggressive toward another dog or person, but that wasn’t the case here.

We had a great visit to the Heidrun Meadery yesterday. Michael and Savanah were wonderful. We enjoyed the tour of how the mead is made, and especially the bottling part. The drink is unique.

Absolutely beautiful meadery on an incredible property with fields of flowers. The mead is great too of course. Fantastic for a picnic.

Great late afternoon experience after hiking in Point Reyes. The sparkling mead was tasty and surprisingly varied in flavor due to the different honeys used in fermentation. There are places to sit and you’re welcome to bring your own food (stop at Cowgirl Creamery first). Reservation recommended.

Laid back atmosphere perfect for relaxing with friends. The tasting sampler allows you to enjoy 4 of their meads, with an option to also purchase by the bottle or glass. Guests are permitted to bring in food. Staff is very chill & knowledgeable and we felt comfortable taking our time enjoying our mead & snacks. An on-site shop has an assortment of mead, honey and other local products for sale. Perfect weekend outing!

I convinced my husband, who doesn't like mead, to take a tasting with me to Heidrun during our getaway to Point Reyes National Seashore. Our pourer, Nikki, was exceptional well informed about the products and gave us great information about each type of mead that we tried. My husband actually liked several! And I LOVED three of the five we tried--went home with a bottle of the Sage Blossom mead--and will probably order more. Also--we had to make a reservation for the tasting--and the whole experience felt very Covid-safe.

Literally...The only wines in the world made from various honeys in the Methode Champenoise. Do look up the story of this unique endeavor & its entrepreneurial geologist founder. I am sure we will return in late Spring, when the flowers are blooming & the hives are buzzing. But even in the cool sleep of November, the grounds are peaceful & lovely. And there are 2 very clean bathroims! During this pandemic, the many picnic tables (in the sunshine & in an arbor of trees) made it possible for the few couples present to have their own.
Christine, our server, gave us plenty of time to savor each of 4 pours & was very informative about each type of blossom bees sourced & taste profile.
There is also a printed sheet of info you keep. Tastings cost $20, but that fee is waived when you purchase 3 bottles. The prices of this delectable (not sweet!) bubbly average $25-35, +. No tours now, not just because of season but due to covid restrictions.
There is a barn like gift shop w/jars of raw honey & beautiful beeswax candles as well. What would really be great for them to do would be a guide as to what type of foods to serve with these very distinctive meads. They are good for sipping, & not the heavy, cloying mead of Ren Faires & medieval times, but with so many notes to savor a food guide would make the experience even better.

My sisters and mom went to Heidrun Meadery as part of a Point Reyes Food Tour. It was the last stop of the day, about 2 pm.
The first thing that hits you is the amazing smell of the flowers. Their fragrance just blows across the fields.
You walk into an assuming greenhouse that is covered with vines and shaded by trees. In the greenhouse they gave samples of the various honey produced on the property.
You can also pay for a tasting of the mead that’s created using the champagne method. The unique and amazing thing about this mead is it smells like flowers. Your brain is expecting something very sweet, but it’s not. Each variety has its own bouquet and pallet. The taste is actually clean and full bodied, but not sweet.
If you can’t make the trip, you can order online.
We also opted for the tour to see how it’s bottled. Very interesting. I had never been educated to how champagne is made.
Enjoyed it immensely and purchased four bottles.
