What a wonderful experience we had getting acquainted with the incredible owner, Audrey, and her beautiful and fascinating water buffalo! The cheeses (mozzarella and ricotta) are delicious. This is what Farm to Table means!!! Experience it for yourself when you visit Sonoma County. Such hard work could only be a true labor of love.

Well worth the trip! Audrey Hitchcock and her staff are great hosts, loving of their animals, and passionate about their pursuit.

A lecture, short tour, and visit with friendly people and water buffalo… as well as excellent, fresh (VERY fresh), mozzarella! An unusual (possibly unique) experience.

Getting in the pen with the baby water buffalo at the end was a treat for all ages. The animals are calm and appreciative of the attention.

You’ll learn something, eat something, and come to a real appreciation of the whole enterprise. Go there!

Audrey and her buffalo are sturdy, loving and inspirational.
Enjoy fresh buffalo mozzarella -- yum!
Be inspired by Team Ramini's passion, perseverance and dedication to humane cheese making.
Most of all, fall in love with the cuddly calves (surprising thing to say about something hundreds of pounds big) who love to be brushed.
We went as a large family group ages 5 to 70. All agreed it was the highlight of our week on the Marin/Sonoma Coast.

A must-see stop if you are a fan of big animals, artisan cheese, or both. (2020 COVID status: yes, tours are open again with plenty of space and mask wearing.)
We heard about Ramini Mozzarella from a friend and signed up for a Saturday tour. It was wonderful. The day started with the owner Audrey talking about the history of their dairy, the character of the water buffalo and her herd, their philosophy of herd management and cheese making, and taking questions about their operations. We lucked out: a calf had been born earlier that day, and we were able to watch his mother caring for him just hours into his young life.
After the introduction, there was a chance to explore the dairy, followed by a sample of fresh buffalo milk mozzarella made just the day before. Delicious! (They had additional cheese for purchase, but you need to bring cash for that.) The tour ended with the best part (if you’re an animal lover): the amazingly well-socialized calves were brought in from the pasture and we all got to brush, scratch, and give them belly rubs.
The tour is a wonderful insight into a micro dairy dedicated to making great cheese and being compassionate stewards of their wonderful herd of gentle giants.

The tour of Ramini Mozzarella is fun, inspiring, and delicious. Audrey shares her very personal story of starting, growing, and maintaining the business and gives you an up close look (and feel!) of the process, including petting and brushing the baby water buffalos. Plus a delicious tasting and the chance to buy more to take home. So special in every way.

Can't recommend this highly enough: the tour at Ramini Mozzarella is wonderful. This tour is all about learning about the water buffaloes in the Ramini herd and the terrific mozzarella that is made from their milk. The owner, Audrey, is funny, super knowledgeable and loves her water buffaloes so much. The story of how she and her late husband started their herd, the trials and tribulations to get where she is today, the interesting facts about water buffaloes that I knew nothing about - all fascinating. You learn about the herd then you go into the milking facility to understand how that works and how it's different from typical cow milking. Then out to their picnic area to taste their mozzarella - yum. This tour requires very little walking as everything is pretty compact. There were a few chairs available outside to sit in where Audrey does most of her presentation. Which was lovely for my 92 year old mother-in-law. The walking that we did do was easy although the ground was a bit uneven (it is a ranch after all). Audrey is passionate about her water buffaloes and easily shares that with her visitors. As she told us, water buffaloes are the most docile, loving agricultural animals. What a trip to rub a 1,000 lb buffalo around her ears and neck and have her be so happy that she literally drops to the ground and rolls to her back to have her stomach rubbed! Good for all ages although under 3 yr olds probably won't get much out of it.

What an amazing story and place. Audrey shares her inspiring story and why she is a pioneer in humane animal raising. The love of the land and most importantly her water buffaloes truly shows in the quality of the mozzarella. Tours are Saturday afternoon and last 2 + hours. After the tour itself finishes you will be treated to a picnic table tasting of fresh mozzarella and an opportunity to pet the babies. The perfect idea would be to bring your own picnic to accompany the mozzarella and enjoy the beautiful location. Be prepared to stand for about an hour at the beginning of the tour. It may be possible to ask for a chair if you truly need one. The area you will be walking on uneven surfaces so take that into account

My wife and I went here wanting to switch it up from the typical winery crawl we typically do. A beautiful 30 minute drive from Santa Rosa to Audrey’s location.

The tour takes place on a real working farm. There is running water to wash your hands and a restroom with running water as well. The facility’s aren’t the highlight here, it’s Audrey and all her water buffalo which create amazing cheese.

Hey story of her husband and her starting the company was inspiring and learning about the process was great. It is truly a labor of love and she’s awesome.

You get to taste some fresh mozzarella which was delicious. The highlight aside from hearing Audrey and her husbands story and tasting the cheese is getting to pet the cute “baby” water buffalos. They are dam near giant dogs that are fun and sweet. The grown up water buffalos still Ike to come to the baby area and get pet as well.

If you are looking for good cheese, a great person/company, petting cute water buffalos, and a change up from the winery grind don’t hesitate!

I’d recommend bringing cash for purchase Mozzarella to go, perhaps a picnic to enjoy on the beautiful pastures, and maybe even planning a drive from here to the coast for sunset.

Tours are usually given on Saturdays, but Audrey was gracious enough to show us around on a Tuesday. The milking and cheese making area are interesting, but the highlight is being able to pet the buffalo who are all named after singers. The mozzarella Audrey and her animals are producing is delicious, and an included sizable portion is served after the tour. Definitely worth the winding road drive to see the one and only water buffalo dairy farm in the USA.

This hidden gem lies at the top of a long driveway to reveal the dream of raising gentle water buffalo in a humane manner and producing Mozzarella cheese to die for! Audrey is an inspiration in running this facility and introducing you to water buffalo and their cheese. A don't miss on the Cheese Trail!
