Waste of money. The Indian section was no more than photos of modern-day Indians posed in very mundane situations such as sitting in a car in a local parade. I took my friend, a Vietnam veteran, specifically to see the Vietnam collection and we both were not impressed. He has better personal photos than the ones on display.

Also note that the museum doesn't open until noon. We got there at 11:00. What museum doesn't open until noon? And if you park within the Sykes building next door, expect to pay $21 for a few hours.

The only redeeming value is that the museum itself is very nice and in a great location.

There really wasn't that much diversity, it was nice to see the war exhibit. However, it only took me 40 minutes to go through the museum, maybe less.

The FMoPA was a great museum to visit on our trip to Tampa. It had several exhibits with beautiful photographs and pictures. The bathrooms were sanitized, and the staff were super friendly. Overall a great experience visiting this museum!

We enjoyed our visit and the various exhibitions. This is a small museum with 5 galleries open at that time. Education programs are also offered, as well as art therapy. My experience was enhanced by reading about the photographers on the museum website.

We were so glad we visited this gem in Tampa. The collection on display (Paul Caponigro) was impressive and beautiful. The staff was extremely helpful - we needed a place to stow our bags and they were great.

a very interesting changing collection of photography as art.
Worth a visit.

just know it is not easily identifiable as a museum.
go into the cube building and take elevator to the second floor.
the helpful people at the desk just outside those elevators will tell you about the collections on display.

you won't need a lot of time to view the offerings, as it is limited.
but a nice way to kill an hour or two if you have reservations or tickets for something nearby.

Internet said masks were required. I believe there was a sign at the museum also. Majority were unmasked. Didn’t set well with us.
Limited amount of photos to see. Thought there would be much more. But, for the price it was ok.
There was a private reception that started while we were there. Very uncomfortable for those of us not part of it. They were in groups in different areas and it was hard to see all of the items on display. They were eating, drinking, not wearing masks, having a great time while we felt like we shouldn’t even be there.

This was my first visit ... A friend of mine introduced me to the museum and was exhibiting one of her photographs, so that made the experience even more enjoyable and meaningful.. I was texting back and forth with her while I was there so it was like having my own private docent. There was a variety of subject matters in the exhibit ... the graceful Greyhounds :), the human body, architecture, nature, etc. I think the photographers' ability to take sometimes a common subject and photographically capture it in a way to make it a piece of art is truly a talent and a gift.. I enjoyed looking at the other two exhibits as well. I am glad to have read all of the descriptions as I probably would not have scrutinized the wallpaper to realize that was art in itself.

Expensive. More of an art scool presentaiton with the usual vergbage: "challenging....," "through the social lens of..." It is not a museum of the photographic arts! The only resemblance to the title is it does have photos....just, for the most part, not very interesting. Some themes, I think, might have sounded clever on paper but didnt translate into an exhibition. A wasted 30 minutes.

As others have noted, the museum is difficult to find. Further, i would argue that it isn't really a museum at all - merely a couple of rooms on one floor and a hallway on another that have photos displayed.

The exhibits we saw were lackluster. They do not have a permanent collection so it's a crapshoot as to what you will see when you go there. The descriptions accompanying the photos we saw in one exhibit were very strident with a particular viewpoint, which we didn't care for. IMO, art (including photography) should allow the viewer space and consideration to come to their own conclusions or interpretation, and not hit them over the head with a particular way to view it.

For these reasons, I don't think we will go back. Probably the worst "photographic" collection I've paid money to see.
