We loved this park for the many hiking trails - woods, hills, and even a backwoods lake! Park at the visitor center and pick up a trail map in the open archway (bathrooms available there too). Trails can be accessed from the parking area, also from the upper parking area near the museum. After a morning of hiking, we drove up into the park and found a nice spot to have a picnic lunch, by Scenic Lake (no, not the same lake that we hiked to - this one is bigger.) After lunch, we drove out of the main part of the park and over to their wetland area...another nice walk there! There's lots more to this park than we were able to take in on this visit.

This state park has much more than we could do. However, the hiking trails alone were very pleasant and worth a visit. Definitely walk to the lake in the middle of the park and watch all the turtles sunning.

We spent two nights at the park in a one bedroom cottage. It met our needs. It has a wood fireplace, but we didn’t get a chance to use it. The heat in the cottage was quite sufficient.
The water pressure in the shower wasn’t great.
Checkin was completed on the phone, and we were able to go straight to the cottage.
We would recommend.

Was a lovely day, lady and I decided to go to the place. Easy access off of US 41. Visidt was on a mid-Sunday morning, some visitors already but plenty of parking. Visited the museum, worth the admission fee and then hiked few trails. Drove around the rest of the park to see what was available.
Staff we met were very friendly and information. Entire park was immaculate. Trails we were on were a bit difficult but doable. Deep woods. Another nice aspect is there is no admission charge to enter the park. You could come and hike, have a family picnic, etc at no charge.
We were glad we went, will visit again to do more trails.

The trails provided a nice walk although could be pretty narrow in places. One could easily complete all the trails in a day. There were some steep hills that made parts of the trails challenging. The lake was nice and allowed my 11 year old son to go fishing (no license required for him). The grounds are quiet and well maintained. It was a nice relaxing way to spend the day. Entrance to the park is free, but if you want to go to the museum there is a charge.

It was hot! But the hiking was fantastic! Really enjoyed! The museum re-opens June 8. 😐 So we were sad not to go there. There’s a lot of public pride & involvement in their restoration & upkeep. The place was so clean & pretty!

Cabin fever got the best of us, so we headed off to Audubon State Park from Owensboro to do som hiking and for me to see the park for the first time. Very impressed with what I saw. We walked two of the shorter trails and drove through the entrie park to get a feel for what is there. The trails we used were well marked with information about the trees, animals and habitats along the trails. The museum was closed (COVID) so we did not visit it. The grounds were in terrific shape. I will certainly return to walk some of the more strenuous trails.

If I wanted to see everything, how much would it cost? (Museum, other attractions in the park).8

No admission to the grounds. There is a charge to the museum. I don't recall exact amount but no more than $6.00 per person.
Is there internet access within the cabins at the park?
Yes. We have wireless internet at the cabins.

You can go into the park for free, plenty of room for hikes, and picnic. They are revamping some of the areas for updates. Have not been there this fall but plan to go in one of their cabins there. They're very nice.
Is it safe to hike alone

Yes, but you can join a local meet-up and never walk alone again.
