German cockroaches are everywhere! They are in the grass, Under each deck at everyone's site, Literally everywhere! We have never had one in our RV and I did spot 2 of them. Now we have to do a deep cleaning and put bombs off everywhere in there.
We went to pull out and my husband took the wheelchocks and they were loaded with them. You can see them crawling in the grass. The swimming pools are both closed. We felt bad for the guy checking everyone in because he was alone and overwhelmed but he did a great job.

We are on a Coast2Coast adventure- so staying at various parks, hotels& Air B&Bs. When researching places to stay, this park was recommended. We were very intrigued that it offered cabins in - yes “in” the canal. We checked in on a Sunday for two nights. Rate is cheaper Sun-Thurs. $150 per night/ $175 on weekends. Retired military also gets discount. This park is about 20 minutes to The French Quarter & Bourbon St. The cabin was wonderful- 2 bedrooms, one with 2 sets of bunk beds , one with very comfortable queen bed. Pots, pans, full kitchen, living room & dinning area. But the best part was a big screen porch. It had a picnic table. We were glad we brought our folding chairs. Lots & lots of gators that came right up to the porch. Obviously someone was feeding them!! (Very bad) the deck around the cabin had a grill, place to clean fish and place to moor/dock a boat. We enjoyed sitting on the porch at night watching the boats go by. The cabin does move a little when big boats go by and create a big wake. All and all great place & would love to have stayed longer.

Taking into account our family's size, this was a great option for an affordable, safe place to stay on a trip to New Orleans. With taxes and fees, our three night (thurs-sun) stay came in at $555. Good luck finding a place that sleeps 8 for anything even remotely close to that in New Orleans.

We found the accommodations to be adequate. Everything except the floor was clean upon arrival. All linens and towels are provided, as well as basic cooking equipment (coffee maker, cookie sheet, pots/pans, toaster, knives, plates, cups, etc.). There is a full sized fridge (with ice maker), oven, dishwasher, and microwave. There is even a small TV in the main living area.

The best part is all the alligators!!! My kids were absolutely mesmerized by the alligators that circled our cabin. Not being from LA, we were hoping to see maybe one or two alligators during our stay, but from the minute we walked the bridge to the cabin there were multiple alligators present almost constantly. I imagine they have learned to wait around the cabins because of all the fishing, fish cleaning, and fish filleting that goes on at the cabins. The ladies fishing next to us didn't seem to find the alligators quite as pleasant as we did ;)

The queen bed and bunk beds were comfortable enough. My poor boys who had to sleep on the pull out couch, though. ROUGH. By the last night they were debating sleeping on the hard floor.

Speaking of the floor, it was filthy. You could not visibly see any dirt, but we all had black bottomed feet after walking on it barefoot. Guests are expected to sweep the floor before checking out, and this may be happening, but I can tell you it had probably been weeks since that floor had seen a mop.

The bayou is beautiful. It was lovely to sit outside on the screened in porch and watch the boats go by. We initially booked cabin #1, but when we arrived there was something wrong with it and they had changed the reservation to cabin #13. Honestly, there isn't much of a difference between them. No cabin is too close to it's neighbor, so I really don't think you can go wrong.

It was about 25 minutes to the French Quarter. One day we drove and parked at the Algiers ferry terminal (20 min drive - free street parking) and took the ferry across. The state park feels remote and deep in nature when you're in it, but it's actually right off a main highway with all the conveniences close by. Excellent!

Here's the thing: this is not a hotel, it's a state park. If it were just me and my husband, I would not think it was worth it to spend $185 a night to stay here. For the remainder of our trip we stayed in airbnbs for a similar nightly cost that were vastly nicer, more comfortable, and didn't make us sweep the entire house before we left. But for 8 people, 20 minutes from New Orleans, the price simply could not be beat. We enjoyed our experience and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again on a return trip to the area.

A couple of helpful notes:
1. The office closes at 5pm on weekdays. We called in advance to let them know we would be later than that and they told us the key would be in the cabin for us and we could check in in the morning. This turned out not to be the case and I nearly had a panic attack thinking about finding another place to stay that night and losing all the food we had in coolers in our car. We caught a lucky break and it worked out in the end, but my advice would be not to chance it - when they say they close at 5pm, they mean it. Be sure to check in BEFORE closing.

2. There is a coffee maker but not coffee filters.

3. One dishwasher pod is provided. Bring extra dish soap.

4. There was no soap in the bathroom. Bring your own just in case.

5. The prior guests may or may not have used the pans to cook the fish they caught, and may or may not have soaked the adequately afterwards. Err on the safe side, wash the pans before using.

6. Bring a sponge.

7. The knives are blunt enough to be a safety hazard. Bring your own if you plan on cutting a watermelon (or something).

8. A swiffer mop is not a bad idea.

I had such an amazing time! This was my 1st time fishing and I truly enjoyed myself. I did not catch any fish but I still enjoyed my time fishing. The cabins were very nice and comfortable. The whole area was very peaceful the entire time that we were there. The office staff was friendly at the time of checking in and checking out. They were very detailed about everything we needed to know about the cabins. One of my favorite things was, the cabins are on the water. The water was so beautiful. I was able to see the sunset and the sunrise. There are even alligators around but as long as you don't bother them, they won't bother you. There are also a lot of little flying bugs around but keep in mind you are by the water so that comes along with it. I no longer want to stay in a hotel with come to Louisiana. I will be staying in a cabin at Bayou Segnette State Park.

We visited for spring break 2023 in March with our 15 y/o. We stayed in cabin 16 at the very end.
The two bedrooms allowed the teen their space. Both bedrooms were nice with adequate storage. Each has a closet cubby and the bunks in the kid room each have a drawer. My only complaint was the plastic over the mattresses but with the amount of humidity we experienced I get it. Hot tip: I put a twin comforter under the sheet like a mattress pad! No more plastic feel.
The bathroom has a shower with a body wash dispenser. The bathroom vanity has tons of drawers as well as under sink storage. Plenty of towels. A few hand towels. Wash clothes. Hand soap is on the wall by the sink. There is a closet but it has the broom and dust pan (you’ll have to sweep when you leave) and extra bedding (for couch pull out, or whatever)
Our kitchen had 3 saucepans (one 3qt, two 2 qt), 2 skillets (a 10 and 8?) for cookware. No baking sheet. No stock pot. Silverware was complete and there’s a set of knives. There are no paper towels so make sure to bring some. 1 dishcloth and 1 hand towel are included. I’d suggest bringing a dish sponge or brush. Dishes must be cleaned and put away before leaving.
There is a picnic table on the porch and a table for 4 inside. 2 reclining chairs and 1 pull out sofa in the living room were quite comfy.
Since our cabin was on the end, boaters thought the noise and no wake ordinances meant when they got to our cabin. Air boats are stupid loud. And the cabin does move a little when there is wake. I’d advise picking something more central. But it wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me coming back.
Wildlife was aplenty and though it was fairly early spring, we saw gators at #10, birds, frogs and lizards. Make sure to hi to the sweet kitties at check in! The staff was very nice and helpful.

We stayed at this park’s campground for 6 days. It’s nice and quiet. You can tell that it’s well taken care of. There were several FEMA trailers there. We didn’t do much at the park. It was a close drive to New Orleans. There’s also shopping and restaurants close by.

We camped there from Oct 23 - 25, 2022 at site # 87. Much of the park is badly in need of repair. There are rotten boards on wooden platforms. The toilet and shower doors wouldn't close. It was 80 degree weather but the pools were closed, The trails were impassable with no notice.

I would leave no stars if I could. We paid $3 per person (total of $9) to go hiking and birding in the park today. Each clearly labeled trail we went down would go about 100 yards and dead end. We tried 3 trails, same results. So we went to the camping area and tried the trails there, but they were super overgrown and unkept as well.
I spoke with the attendant about the issues but she didn't seem to care at all. She told me the trails were bad because of Ida! I told her they all dead ended and should have signage saying they were closed for work.
DON'T waste your money. There are so many better parks that are FREE to go to.

Spacious sites but the bathrooms/showers were filthy and the pool was green. On top of that the wave pool was closed as well. Our site was supposed to be partially shaded and it was not
