As always the Saudi Arabian staff fail to deliver a swift service, the laziness of the Saudi custom, passport sections is beyond a joke, between talking to colleagues or watching TikTok’s on there phones, there incapable of processing individuals at any sort of pace, the Bahrain side is fast and efficient, yet the Saudis let the causeway down every single time.

The King Fahd Causeway has long series of bridges and causeways connecting Khobar, Saudi Arabia, and Al Jasra, Bahrain. It comprises two segments, a longer bridge from Khobar to Nasan Island in Bahrain and a shorter stretch from Nasan Island to the main island of Bahrain. It is roughly 25 kilometers long and was officially opened in November 1986. The causeway is a four-lane road featuring two roadways. It is a complex of three great bridges and an artificial island. The project cost a total of US$800 million. The largest artificial island is in the center of the bridge. This island serves as a border between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, on its territory are the transport stations, transition points, and recreational areas. Today, this causeway has become a tourist attraction that includes seven embankments; the most popular is an artificial island called the 'Middle Island' that features a beautiful mosque, a small garden, and a couple of fast-food restaurants where travelers can rest and enjoy a quick meal. At present, King Fahd Bridge is of great strategic and tourist importance. It was financed entirely by Saudi Arabia and King Fahd Causeway Authority (KFCA) is the operator. It has enjoyed a steady growth in passenger and cargo movement, with the annual increase in passenger numbers estimated at 7 percent over recent years. More than 136,000 passengers passed through the causeway on Saturday, March 4, 2023.

King Fahad causeway is a bridge crossing over the Arabic Gulf waters connecting Alkhobar in Saudi Arabia to Aljasra in Bahrain, that was opened back in 1986, the people of this region waited a long time for this bridge to be built, and when it was done many obstacles regarding transportation between the 2 countries were solved, the causeway drive is very pleasant, the waters scenery is beautiful, the border facilities are organised, everything is done from your car, you don’t need to go down from your car, and Bahrain is a beautiful island, worthwhile visiting.

We wanted visit the Tower Restaurant located on the central island of the causeway.
Unfortunately, it was closed for renovation. This is the causeway connecting Bahrain to Saudi Arabia. You may also just go and enjoy the drive, which is lovely, especially in the evening with a setting sun or in the mornings with the rising sun. On clear days, you can make out buildings on the Saudi side. Charges to using the causeway is BD 2.5. Speed limits are indicated, and should be respected due to the numerous speed cameras installed recently.

We haven't made many land border crossings yet, (Malaysia to Brunei, China to Hong Kong, USA to Canada, UAE to Saudi Arabia) but the drive from Dammam, Saudi Arabia to Bahrain is very nice, especially in December, where the weather is amazing, and you can drive it with the windows open. The Middle Island, where the border is, has a McDonald's, Starbucks, and other amenities, if you need to stop. It took us about 30 minutes total to cross the border to Bahrain, getting a 7 day visa on arrival and car insurance for 10 days (we are Americans with GCC (UAE) residence IDs).

Probably not on peoples lists when thinking about 'things to do' in Bahrain and not something that should be attempted during the weekend. This causeway can offer great views and if you miss the busy periods can be an enjoyable experience.
You can drive halfway where this a stopping area with toilets, restaurant, cafe and you can have a walk around the artificial Island which can be nice during the colder months.
It's only a few BD for the toll/insurance for your car.

главная трудность - понять, что ты уже на границе с Саудовской Аравией))).
дорога платная (только по дороге туда) - 2,5 динара, но если едешь втроем, как мы - вообще не существенная плата

Good day all, I have a KSA Iqama and my wife will be visiting KSA, with a KSA tourist visa, so when here we plan a road trip to Bahrain for a weekend, does anyone know if she’ll be able to exit KSA to Bahrain and return to KSA afterwards. The tourist visa is a multi-entry visa..?

Hello,
Let’s assume that corona is over and the Causeway is open again.
Can I use my Valid USA visa in a Philippine passport to cross the causeway from Bahrain to Saudi ? Or it can only be use in airports?

Dear,
We are always crossing the border via causeway but this time my son’s friend wants to join. He is 11y old.
Is it possible while he is minor and without his parents?
Many thanks for your reply.

When you think of the number of school runs per day from Saudi to Bahrain and no visa is needed for Saudis to enter Bahrain I couldn't see this being an issue?
Maybe a quick call to the Saudi Embassy Phone: 1753 7722 would give you a more definite answer.
