We’ve been here a couple of times over the years and you get what you pay for. We made sure and paid cash for everything. Supposedly you get a little price break by doing that. There is a little bartering that goes on so give it a try too. Be sure and look over all the vendors before buying anything. Multiple vendors sell the same produce but at different pricing. The food is good, vegetables were fresh and there are plenty of characters to converse with. It was enjoyable. A local also told us not to waste our money paying for parking but to park in the neighborhood and walk down, which we did.

Checked on Google, made sure there was no seasonal hour changes, and it clearly stated they were open Wednesday through Saturday, closed Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. We get there this morning plan on a big trip, Walking through the farmers' market, so excited. And there were literally 5 booths open. So disappointing. Please update the website that most people check.

Went to Soulard Market early on a Wednesday afternoon only to find it pretty abandoned. Apparently the primary time to go is on the weekend from Friday to Sunday. All the produce was gone and only a few of the permanent retail spice and food shops are opened from Wednesday to Sunday.

All of the pictures allude to a bustling, full market with tons of variety and choices. It is 11am on a Thursday and this couldn't be further from the truth. There are roughly half a dozen open stands and of those, 3 of them are shilling mass market produce. The meat, coffee/tea, and spice stands don't allow entry so there's no way of knowing what is being offered. I paid for extra time on my parking expecting to stroll around and spend a decent amount of time. What a waste. Don't bother coming here.

We were visiting the area and decided to stop in and check it out. I was sorry I ate breakfast before I went, I was not expected all of the food vendors! Every booth was full of fresh fruit and vegetables, pastry’s, Cajun food, Indian food, Russian food/pastry’s, jewelry, so, so much amazing things!

We spent a couple hours here on a Saturday morning. I've never been to a farmer's market this big. Reviews sounded like there wouldn't be many vendors but there were only a couple empty spaces! Got coffee and pastries at one "indoor store" that had a line for good reason! and soap and incense from another very inexpensive yet friendly vendor. Would love to live here so we could by fruits and veg but we were visiting from MN. What a treat! There were live chickens laying eggs and one vendor had a pool of fish he was "catching" and putting on ice. Can't get any fresher than that!
Docked one star for the old man literally dripping snot from his nose while bagging up someone's food. Got out of that line real quick! Ugh. Felt bad for those people. Wonder if they passed on their order.
Parking is scarce also but we lucked out with a spot only half a block away-and someone snagged it right after we left!

I got there this morning at 830am (opens at 8am) and there were almost no vendors and only about 1/3 of the indoor shops were open. I'm a St. Louis resident and this is is a bad example to visitors from out of town.

We spent a long summer weekend in St. Louis. I was pretty excited to visit the Soulard Farmer’s Market based on what I’d read online. My online research indicated that the market would be open on a Friday.
We had a decent time…but the market itself disappointed, at least from a tourism perspective. Friday morning seemed pretty quiet; most of the booths were closed or empty, as were the small stores in the center of the market. We’d gone hoping for a late breakfast—a delicious pastry somewhere, perhaps, and some coffee. Both of those were not to be found!
That said, the vendors that were present had a nice array of produce and meats; if you were staying at a house or cooking a meal, it’d be a super-fun place to buy your ingredients. There were a fair number of locals doing their shopping.
People seemed to indicate Saturday would be a better day for things like fresh breads, flowers, etc., or grabbing a light bite. We didn’t make it back on Saturday.

The Soulard Farmers Market is a must if you're ever in the area. They have a wide variety of item; produce, homemade crafts, homemade soaps, alcohol, meats, etc. The prices were all decent and the people are all friendly. We were extremely impressed with this place.

Fun place to people watch, eat lunch, drink coffee, and buy cheap produce. A legit market with a variety of stalls. Great prices.

How do I add a restaurant to Trip Advisor. Was visiting St. Louis, MO for BBQ? Finished burnt ends at a restaurant, disappointed, when I discovered Norton's Cajun Corner in Soulard Farmers Market. At closing time I got a bowl of Jambalaya. Cooking all day the rice was mush. That said the Jambalaya, sans rice, was delicious, 4 stars.

Norton’s Cajun Corner, located inside the Grand Hall, has a fabulous Ragin Cajun and full food menu. They are open Wed-Sat.
Julia’s Market Cafe is on the SW corner of the market and features a patio, and has great Bloody Mary’s too!
Everyone has one while they shop- it’s a tradition on Saturdays.
